   Day 3-8 Fire Weather Outlook

   Valid 011200Z - 071200Z

   A mean upper trough will persist east of the Rockies with cold
   temperatures enveloping much of the CONUS from the Plains to the
   Atlantic coast. Across the west, an upper ridge will slowly shift
   east from the Pacific coast to the Rockies by Day 6 or 7/Thu or Fri.
   At that time, a shortwave trough is forecast to move over the
   Pacific Northwest and into the Northern Rockies and Great Basin
   through the end of the period. The surface pressure gradient will
   remain favorable for periods of offshore winds across southern CA,
   but the gradient will not be strong enough to warrant fire weather
   areas. At this time, fire weather concerns are not expected across
   the CONUS during the Day 3-8 period.
