...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR - SWRN OREGON / NRN CA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER TROUGH WILL MOVE FROM ID INTO WY AND MT...BRINGING
PRECIPITATION TO MT BUT DRIER AND WINDY CONDITIONS TO WY. IN THE
WAKE OF THIS TROUGH...AN UPPER RIDGE WILL BUILD...ALLOWING A
THERMAL TROUGH TO SET UP WITH AXIS EXTENDING ACROSS CENTRAL CA NWD
INTO SRN OREGON. HIGH PRESSURE OVER MT AND ID WILL HELP CREATE ELY
DOWNSLOPE WINDS W OF THE OREGON CASCADES...AND INTO NRN CA. A VERY
DRY AIRMASS WILL REMAIN IN PLACE ACROSS THE GREAT BASIN...DESERT
   SW...CA AND OREGON.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA # - 1 SWRN OREGON / NRN CA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: EAST WINDS / VERY LOW RH / HOT TEMPERATURES

AS UPPER RIDGE BUILDS OVER THE W COAST...THERMAL LOW/TROUGH WILL
DEVELOP FROM THE VALLEYS OF CENTRAL CA NWD INTO OREGON. RH VALUES
DURING THE DAYTIME WILL DROP INTO THE 10-20 PERCENT RANGE IN
GENERAL UNDER SUNNY SKIES. HIGH PRESSURE TO THE E WILL HELP INDUCE
OFFSHORE FLOW. SPEEDS OF 10-20 MPH WILL BE COMMON INTO THE
LOWLANDS...WITH GREATER SPEEDS AND GUSTS THROUGH PASSES. WINDS ARE
EXPECTED TO CONTINUE OVERNIGHT AS THERMAL TROUGH MOVES
WWD...ALLOWING DRY AIR TO BLOW IN FROM THE EAST AND KEEP RH
   RECOVERY POOR.

   ...SRN AND WRN WY...
CONDITIONS WILL APPROACH CRITICAL LEVELS TODAY OVER MUCH OF CENTRAL
AND SWRN WYOMING. LIMITING FACTORS WILL BE MARGINAL RH VALUES IN
MUCH OF THE STATE AS TEMPERATURES REMAIN COOL INTO THE 70S...AND
RECENT RAINFALL WHICH WILL TEMPER THE DEGREE OF FIRE THREAT. A
FAIRLY STRONG UPPER TROUGH WILL MOVE THROUGH TODAY...CAUSING WINDY
CONDITIONS. WLY WINDS OF 20-30 MPH SUSTAINED WILL BE COMMON WITH
HIGHER GUSTS. RH WILL BE LOWEST INTO SWRN WY...WHERE VALUES OF 15-
20 PERCENT ARE EXPECTED. CRITICAL FIRE THREAT WILL BE LIMITED TO
ISOLATED AREAS WHICH HAVE RECEIVED NO RAIN RECENTLY OVER PORTIONS
   OF CENTRAL AND SW WY.

...NRN AZ / WRN CO / NWRN NM...
VERY DRY AIR WILL SPREAD OUT OF THE GREAT BASIN...AND INTO NRN AZ
WRN CO AND NWRN NM WHERE IT HAS BEEN RELATIVELY MOIST. ALTHOUGH
WINDS WILL GENERALLY BE LIGHT...DECREASING HUMIDITIES WILL BEGIN TO
DRY FUELS AND INCREASE FIRE DANGERS.

DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK...REF AWIPS GRAPHIC PMWI98 KWNS

...NO LARGE-SCALE SIGNIFICANT FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
SHORTWAVE TROUGH WILL MOVE OUT OF MT/WY AND INTO NRN MN BY SAT
MORNING. AN AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE NRN ROCKIES WILL PUSH
EWD AS A COLD FRONT...AND SHIFT WINDS TO NWLY THROUGH THE CENTRAL
AND NRN PLAINS. A VERY DRY AIRMASS WILL REMAIN OVER THE WRN
U.S...AS WARM DRY AIR MOVES FURTHER NWD INTO OREGON AND WASHINGTON.
HAINES INDICES WILL REACH THE HIGH CATEGORY OVER THE FOUR CORNERS
AREA. EXTREMELY HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS WILL PERSIST INTO SRN CA.

   ...OREGON / NRN CA...
INDICATIONS ARE THAT THE EAST WINDS WILL NOT BE QUITE AS STRONG AS
ON THUR...BUT NEVERTHELESS FIRE CONCERNS WILL BE HEIGHTENED DUE TO
THE HOT DRY AIRMASS IN PLACE. MIN RH VALUES OF 10-15 PERCENT ARE
EXPECTED...WITH SINGLE DIGITS INTO THE VALLEYS OF NRN CA. RH
RECOVERIES OVERNIGHT WILL BE POOR EXCEPT IMMEDIATELY ALONG THE
   COAST.
