   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0244 AM CDT FRI AUG 08 2003

   VALID 081200Z - 091200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER LOW WILL REMAIN OFF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST COAST THROUGH THE
PERIOD...WITH STRONG SWLY FLOW / 40-50 KT / ACROSS THE NRN GREAT
BASIN. UPPER DISTURBANCES WILL PRIMARILY AFFECT MT/NRN ID/WA
TODAY...WITH A FRONT EXTENDING ALONG THE MT/CANADIAN BORDER BY
TONIGHT. THE UPPER PATTERN WILL RESULT IN MODERATE SFC WINDS OF
15-25 MPH ACROSS THE ERN SLOPES OF THE SIERRA...INTO CNTRL/ERN MT/NW
UT AND THE ERN SNAKE RIVER VALLEY. ELSEWHERE HIGH PRESSURE ACROSS
MUCH OF THE SOUTHWEST WILL KEEP LARGE SCALE WINDS GENERALLY IN THE
   10-15 MPH RANGE.

   ...ERN CA/CNTRL AND ERN NV/NW UT/ERN ID...

STRONG SFC WINDS OF 15-25 MPH ARE EXPECTED TODAY...WITH LOCALLY
HIGHER GUSTS TO 30-40 MPH POSSIBLE. THE DURATION AND COVERAGE OF THE
STRONG WINDS WILL NOT WARRANT A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK.
HOWEVER...MINIMUM RH VALUES WILL FALL BELOW 10 PERCENT ACROSS
PORTIONS OF THE AREA...WITH 100/1000 HOUR FUEL MOISTURE OBSERVATIONS
BELOW 10 PERCENT. MANY ONGOING LARGE FIRES CONTINUE IN ERN ID...SO
THIS AREA IS OF MOST CONCERN FOR TODAY.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0403 AM CDT FRI AUG 08 2003

   VALID 091200Z - 101200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
THE UPPER LOW OFF THE WEST COAST WILL REMAIN STATIONARY THROUGH
SUNDAY...BUT WINDS ALOFT WILL INCREASE TO 50-60 KT ESPECIALLY FROM
NRN CA TO OREGON BY SATURDAY NIGHT. THIS WILL RESULT IN LOCALLY
WINDY CONDITIONS ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND NRN
GREAT BASIN ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON. POINT FORECAST SOUNDINGS SUGGEST
ISOLATED DRY TSTMS ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS ERN ID/NW UT WITH A DEEP
MIXED BOUNDARY LAYER AND SUFFICIENT MID LEVEL MOISTURE. FIRE WEATHER
CONDITIONS WILL LIKELY WORSEN BY SUNDAY...AS THE UPPER LOW BEGINS TO
   MOVE ONSHORE...AND SFC WINDS INCREASE.
