...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SRN CA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
STRONG SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE THROUGH THE INTERMOUNTAIN WEST/GREAT

OFFSHORE/DOWNSLOPE WINDS ACROSS WRN/SRN CA AND THE SOUTHWEST
DESERTS. ELSEWHERE COLD FRONT AND BROAD CLOUD COVER/PRECIPITATION

DOWNSLOPE/OFFSHORE SANTA ANA WINDS OFF THE HIGHER TERRAIN WILL
CONTINUE ACROSS SRN CA TODAY OWING TO HIGH PRESSURE THROUGH THE
GREAT BASIN AND EXISTENCE OF STRONG PRESSURE GRADIENT. NE WINDS OF
25-35 MPH ARE LIKELY TO PEAK THIS MORNING...WITH LOCALIZED GUSTS IN
EXCESS OF 50 MPH POSSIBLE IN FAVORED AREAS ADJACENT TO/BELOW CANYONS
AND MOUNTAIN PASSES. AS HAS BEEN THE CASE...RECORD OR NEAR RECORD
WARMTH...STEEP ATMOSPHERIC LAPSE RATES...AND EXTREMELY DRY
AIRMASS/FUELS WILL FOSTER CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS AND ERRATIC FIRE

DIGITS...IN ADDITION TO VERY POOR RH RECOVERIES OVERNIGHT.

   ...SW AZ...
SUBSIDING/DOWNSLOPE WIND FLOW WILL EXIST ACROSS SW AZ TODAY VIA

BACKSIDE OF PASSING UPPER LEVEL IMPULSE. GENERAL N/NE WINDS OF 15-25
MPH WITH LOCALLY HIGHER GUSTS ARE EXPECTED THROUGH THE
AFTERNOON...ESPECIALLY IN HIGHER TERRAIN/RIDGE TOPS. MINIMUM

REGION...ALLOWING WIND SPEEDS TO DIMINISH ACCORDINGLY THROUGHOUT THE
   DAY. NEVERTHELESS...UNSEASONABLY WARM CONDITIONS WILL EXIST...WITH A
DRY AIRMASS REMAINING IN PLACE. RH VALUES COINCIDENT WITH PEAK
