   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0109 AM CST MON MAR 08 2004

   VALID 081200Z - 091200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR MUCH OF FL AND ADJACENT GA/AL...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
SEA-LEVEL PRESSURE HAS FALLEN SHARPLY OFF CAROLINA COAST DURING LATE
EVENING HOURS SUNDAY AS STRONG UPPER TROUGH AND ASSOCIATED JET
TRANSLATE RAPIDLY EWD ACROSS THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION. TRAILING COLD
FRONT EXTENDS SWWD ACROSS NERN GULF COAST AREA EARLY THIS MORNING.
AIR MASS BEHIND FRONT IS CONTINENTAL POLAR...WITH SURFACE DEWPOINTS
IN THE TEENS AND 20S EARLY THIS MORNING ACROSS THE TN VALLEY REGION.
BROAD REGION OF NWLY UPPER FLOW ACROSS CENTRAL CONUS BEHIND
SHORTWAVE TROUGH WILL CONTRIBUTE TO RAPID SEWD MOVEMENT OF COLD
FRONT...WITH BOUNDARY CLEARING MOST OF FL PENINSULA BY MID-MORNING.
WITH SURFACE RIDGE ANCHORED FROM THE CENTRAL ROCKIES SEWD TO
TX...NWLY LOW-LEVEL FLOW AND STRONG DRY AIR ADVECTION WILL OCCUR
THROUGH MUCH OF THE PERIOD ACROSS THE SERN CONUS INCLUDING FL
   PENINSULA.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA 1 - FAR SRN AL...SRN GA...AND
   FL...EXCEPT SRN FL...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: VERY LOW RH VALUES / MODERATE WINDS / LITTLE OR
   NO MARCH RAINFALL ACROSS REGION

NWLY WINDS OF 15-20 MPH FOLLOWING DRY FRONTAL PASSAGE THIS MORNING
WILL ADVECT ANOMALOUSLY LOW DEWPOINTS SWD INTO THE FL PENINSULA.
COLD ADVECTION REGIME WILL CONTRIBUTE TO STEEP SFC-850MB LAPSE RATES
ENHANCING VERTICAL MIXING BRINGING DEWPOINTS DOWN TO THE UPPER TEENS
TO MID 20S ACROSS SRN AL/SRN GA/ AND NRN/N-CENTRAL FL THIS
AFTERNOON. STEEP LAPSE RATES MAY ALSO RESULT IN LOCALLY HIGHER GUSTS
TO 25 MPH DURING THE MID-AFTERNOON HOURS.

DESPITE HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW 60S NORTH TO LOW 70S SOUTH...OR
ABOUT 10-15F COOLER THAN SUNDAY/S HIGHS...PRESENCE OF LOW SFC
DEWPOINTS WILL CONTRIBUTE TO AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF SUB 30 PERCENT
RH...ROUGHLY FROM 15Z-00Z. MID-AFTERNOON RH MINIMUMS COULD REACH
15-25 PERCENT ACROSS SERN AL/SRN GA/NRN FL INCLUDING THE FL
PANHANDLE. MINIMUM RH VALUES OF 20-35 PERCENT ARE LIKELY AWAY FROM
THE GULF COASTLINE ACROSS MUCH OF N-CENTRAL THRU S-CENTRAL FL. RH
VALUES SHOULD REMAIN ABOVE 35 PERCENT ACROSS SRN FL.

IN ADDITION TO FAVORABLE AMBIENT CONDITIONS...ABSENCE OF
SIGNIFICANT/ANY RAINFALL SINCE FEBRUARY 26TH ACROSS ENTIRE REGION
HAS LEFT SOME FUELS DRY. CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT WILL RESULT
TODAY UNTIL WINDS SUBSIDE AND RH VALUES RECOVER WITH BOUNDARY LAYER
   STABILIZATION AFTER SUNSET TONIGHT.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0111 AM CST MON MAR 08 2004

   VALID 091200Z - 101200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NRN/CENTRAL FL AND ADJACENT SERN
   AL AND SRN GA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AT THE START OF THE DAY 2 PERIOD...BROAD UPPER TROUGH WILL PERSIST
ACROSS THE ERN U.S. WITH EMBEDDED SHORTWAVE TROUGH MOVING RAPIDLY
SEWD ACROSS THE LOWER OHIO VALLEY. THIS TROUGH WILL MOVE ACROSS THE
SERN U.S. THROUGH 10/00Z. ASSOCIATED SURFACE LOW WILL TRACK FROM KY
AT 09/12Z TO SC/GA BORDER AT 10/00Z...BRINGING REINFORCING SURGE OF
DRY LOW-LEVEL AIR SWD TO THE CENTRAL AND ERN GULF COAST REGION
DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA 1 - NRN/CENTRAL FL AND ADJACENT SERN
   AL AND SRN GA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: MODERATE WINDS / LOW RH VALUES / DRY FUELS

FOLLOWING RELATIVELY LIGHT WIND CONDITIONS TUESDAY MORNING...WLY
WINDS SHOULD INCREASE TO 15-25 MPH ACROSS THE CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
AREA TUESDAY AFTERNOON AS SURFACE LOW TRACKS JUST NORTH AND EAST OF
THE REGION. LOW-LEVEL FLOW FROM NERN GULF OF MEXICO WILL LIKELY
RESULT IN RH MINIMUMS ABOVE 35 PERCENT ALONG THE NWRN COAST OF FL.
HOWEVER...DRY CONDITIONS SHOULD PERSIST INLAND WITH RH MINIMUMS OF
20-35 PERCENT LIKELY. HIGH TEMPERATURES SHOULD GENERALLY BE IN THE
60S. A NWLY WIND SHIFT SHOULD OCCUR DURING THE EVENING HOURS ACROSS
SRN AL AND SRN GA AS WEAK COLD FRONT MOVES FROM NW-SE. THIS
FRONT/WIND SHIFT WILL PROGRESS SEWD ACROSS THE NRN HALF OF THE FL
   PENINSULA THROUGH 06Z.

CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS SHOULD OCCUR GENERALLY BETWEEN 18Z
AND 00Z WHEN LOW RH WILL CORRESPOND WITH INCREASING WIND...AND
PERIODS OF SUSTAINED WINDS AROUND 20 MPH. ABSENCE OF PRECIPITATION
THIS MONTH AND DRY FUELS ALSO SUPPORT THE CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
   RISK.
