...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NWRN NV...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER PATTERN WILL BEGIN TO DEVELOP TODAY AS UPPER
TROUGH OVER THE NWRN STATES AMPLIFIES THROUGH THE PERIOD...ALLOWING
BAND OF FASTER WINDS TO SINK SWD THROUGH THE NRN AND WRN GREAT
BASIN. A VERY HOT AND DRY AIR MASS WILL REMAIN OVER THE GREAT
BASIN...DESERT SW AND FOUR CORNERS STATES UNDER FLATTENING UPPER
RIDGE. FARTHER E...IT WILL BE WARM AND WINDY IN THE PLAINS STATES
BUT RH WILL REMAIN ABOVE CRITICAL LEVELS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA 1 - NWRN NV...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: LOW RH / STRONG WINDS

WIND SPEEDS WILL INCREASE TODAY AS UPPER TROUGH SINKS SWD OVER THE
AREA. SUSTAINED WLY WINDS AROUND 20 MPH ARE EXPECTED ALONG WITH
GUSTS OF 25-30 MPH. IT WILL BE VERY WARM WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE
UPPER 80S / LOWER 90S F WITH RESULTING MIN RH VALUES OF 10-15
PERCENT. RH RECOVERY WILL BE POOR IN ELEVATED TERRAIN WHERE WLY
WINDS WILL CONTINUE MIXING OF DRY AIR TO THE SURFACE.

...CENTRAL / SRN WY INTO NWRN CO / NERN UT...
STRONG WLY FLOW WILL DEVELOP AT THE SURFACE ACROSS THE SRN HALF OF
WY...WITH SUSTAINED SPEEDS OF 25-30 MPH. RH LEVELS ACROSS WY WILL
LIKELY APPROACH 15 PERCENT. OVERALL FUEL CONDITIONS CONTINUE TO BE
MOIST IN THIS AREA ESPECIALLY N SLOPES.

FURTHER S ACROSS NERN UT AND NWRN CO...FUELS ARE A BIT DRIER BUT
WINDS WILL BE A BIT LOWER AT 15-20 MPH WITH RH LEVELS NEAR 15
PERCENT. THE HAINES INDEX WILL BE HIGH OVER MUCH OF THE AREA
INDICATING ENHANCED LOWER ATMOSPHERIC INSTABILITY AND TURBULENCE.

   ...SRN UT INTO NRN AZ...
WINDS WILL BEGIN TO INCREASE IN RESPONSE TO BREAKING DOWN OF UPPER
RIDGE FROM THE N. SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS NEAR 15 MPH WILL BE LIKELY
WITH HIGHER GUSTS. RH WILL CONTINUE TO BE LOW AT 10-15 PERCENT WITH
TEMPERATURES IN THE 80S MOUNTAINS TO LOWER 100S IN THE LOWER
TERRAIN. THE HAINES INDEX WILL BE HIGH AND RH RECOVERY WILL BE POOR
   OVERNIGHT WITH CONTINUED WINDS.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0353 AM CDT SUN JUN 06 2004

   VALID 071200Z - 081200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NV / SERN CA INTO SRN UT / NRN AZ
   / WRN CO...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
RIDGE OVER THE SWRN U.S. WILL CONTINUE TO BREAK DOWN AS UPPER TROUGH
SWINGS SEWD ONTO THE W COAST BY TUE MORNING. BAND OF MODERATE FLOW
ALOFT WILL EXIST AND WILL COMBINE WITH HOT AND DRY AIR MASS TO
PRODUCE CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS FROM SRN CA INTO WRN CO.
IT WILL BE VERY WARM AND WINDY OVER THE SRN HIGH PLAINS AS LOW
PRESSURE DEEPENS OVER ERN CO / WRN KS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA 1 - NV / SERN CA INTO SRN UT / NRN AZ
   / WRN CO...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WLY WINDS / LOW RH WITH HOT TEMPERATURES
   / MDT TO HIGH HAINES

INCREASING FLOW ALOFT WITH UPPER TROUGH WILL BEGIN TO OVERLAP WITH
HOT AND DRY AIR MASS FROM THE GREAT BASIN INTO THE FOUR CORNERS
AREA. SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS WILL AVERAGE NEAR 20 MPH WITH HIGHER
GUSTS NEAR 30 MPH DURING THE AFTERNOON. IT WILL BE VERY WARM WITH
TEMPERATURES IN THE 90S AND LOWER 100S F WIDESPREAD. MIN RH WILL
AVERAGE 10-15 PERCENT IN GENERAL WITH A FEW LOCATIONS BELOW 10
   PERCENT.

STRONG HEATING WILL STEEPEN LOW LEVEL LAPSE RATES AND WILL CAUSE MDT
TO HIGH HAINES INDICES. OVERNIGHT RH RECOVERY WILL REMAIN POOR WITH
CONTINUED GUSTY WINDS IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN.

   ...SRN WY...
A CONTINUATION OF FAVORABLE CONDITIONS FOR DRYING WILL CONTINUE TO
LOWER FUEL MOISTURE VALUES. ALTHOUGH SOME AREAS ARE IN GREENUP AND
HAVE RECEIVED RECENT PRECIPITATION...LOCALIZED AREAS THAT HAVE HAD
RELATIVELY LITTLE MOISTURE WILL SEE AN ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER THREAT.
WLY WINDS OF 25-30 MPH WILL OCCUR WITH MARGINAL RH VALUES OF 15-20
   PERCENT.
