   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0206 AM CDT SUN JUN 26 2005

   VALID 261200Z - 271200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
SHORTWAVE TROUGH WILL WEAKEN AS IT SHIFTS NEWD ALONG NRN PERIPHERY
OF UPPER RIDGE...ALLOWING WIND SPEEDS TO WEAKEN SOMEWHAT OVER THE
GREAT BASIN AND DESERT SW...BUT KEEPING IT HOT AND DRY. ANOTHER
TROUGH ALOFT WILL AMPLIFY OVER THE PACIFIC NW AND SHIFT
EWD...BRINGING HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE NRN ROCKIES AND
PLAINS. SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL AGAIN OCCUR OVER MUCH OF THE
CENTRAL AND SRN ROCKIES THIS AFTERNOON...WITH A FEW OF THEM DRY.

...SRN NV / SWRN UT / NWRN AZ AND MOGOLLON RIM / SERN CA DESERTS...
CONDITIONS WILL BE NEAR CRITICAL TODAY...THE MITIGATING FACTOR BEING
DECREASED WIND SPEEDS. MAIN ENERGY WITH YESTERDAYS TROUGH WILL MOVE
OUT OF THE AREA...ALLOWING FOR SOME SLIGHT RIDGING TO OCCUR WHICH
WILL KEEP CONDITIONS WARM AND DRY BUT WITH LIGHTER WINDS.
STILL...SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS OF 15-20 MPH WILL BE COMMON WITH HIGHER
GUSTS. RH WILL REMAIN VERY LOW WITH VALUES INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS IN
THE LOWER ELEVATIONS. HAINES INDICES WILL BE MDT TO HIGH ONCE AGAIN.
THUS...ENHANCED FIRE ACTIVITY CAN BE EXPECTED BY PEAK HEATING
   HOURS...WITH POOR RECOVERY OVERNIGHT.

...NM / WRN CO / SERN UT / NERN AZ...
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL OCCUR ONCE AGAIN THIS
AFTERNOON...ESPECIALLY OVER NM AND CO. GIVEN DRY SUB CLOUD
LAYERS...LITTLE PRECIPITATION WILL FALL THUS POTENTIAL WILL EXIST
FOR SOME STARTS DUE TO LIGHTNING.

   ...WY / NWRN CO...
MODERATE SWLY FLOW ALOFT WITH DEPARTING SHORTWAVE TROUGH AND STRONG
HEATING WILL ALLOW FOR LOWER ATMOSPHERIC INSTABILITY TO DEVELOP
TODAY...AND WILL HELP MIX GUSTY WINDS TO THE SURFACE. SWLY SUSTAINED
SPEEDS NEAR 20 APPEAR LIKELY WITH HIGHER GUSTS. RH VALUES WILL NOT
BE VERY LOW HOWEVER...AVERAGING NEAR 20 PERCENT DUE TO MODERATE
TEMPERATURES IN THE 70S AND 80S.
