   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0426 AM CDT MON JUL 25 2005

   VALID 251200Z - 261200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE NRN ROCKIES TODAY...BRINGING
MUCH COOLER TEMPERATURES FOR TONIGHT AND WINDY CONDITIONS THIS AFTN
FROM THE SNAKE RIVER VALLEY INTO THE NRN PLAINS. SHORTWAVE TROUGH
MOVING INTO THE NRN ROCKIES EARLY THIS MORNING WILL BECOME ABSORBED
WITH THE LARGER STORM SYSTEM LATER TODAY ACROSS CNTRL CANADA. THE
STEEP LAPSE RATE ENVIRONMENT WILL ALLOW DEEP MIXING TO OCCUR WITHIN
THE BOUNDARY LAYER. MODERATELY STRONG /35-45 KT/ FLOW AT MID LEVELS
WILL EXTEND ACROSS A BROAD AREA...AND LARGE SCALE HEIGHT FALLS WILL
HELP DRIVE THE FRONT SWD DURING THE DAY. WIDESPREAD CRITICAL FIRE
WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE NOT EXPECTED GIVEN CURRENT POSITION OF COLD
FRONT AND GENERALLY COOLER DAYTIME HIGHS FROM RECENT DAYS.

   ...SRN ID THROUGH SRN WY...
COLD FRONT WAS LOCATED ACROSS NW WY INTO SRN ID EARLY THIS
MORNING...AND IS EXPECTED TO MOVE THROUGH MUCH OF WY BY EARLY
EVENING. ACROSS THE SNAKE RIVER VALLEY...TEMPERATURES WILL GENERALLY
BE COOLER WITH HIGHER RH VALUES. HOWEVER...SUSTAINED WINDS WILL BE
IN THE 15-25 MPH RANGE. FORECAST SOUNDINGS SUGGEST MINIMUM RH VALUES
MAY BE AS LOW AS 12-18 PERCENT IN SOME LOCATIONS. AREAS IN SRN WY
WILL BE AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT FOR PART OF THE DAY...SO DAYTIME
HIGHS WILL CLIMB WELL INTO THE 80S. WINDS WILL BE CHANGING DIRECTION
RAPIDLY INVOF OF THE FRONT...WHICH SHOULD EXTEND FROM NEAR
   CMS/RWL/CYS BY 26/00Z.

IN ADDITION TO THE LOCALLY BREEZY CONDITIONS IN THE AFTN...SHOWERS
AND TSTMS ARE ALSO LIKELY. TSTMS SHOULD BE FOCUSED ALONG THE
CONTINENTAL DIVIDE IN ID AND WY. ALTHOUGH ISOLD DRY LIGHTNING IS
POSSIBLE...RELATIVELY HIGH PW VALUES ACROSS WY SHOULD YIELD SOME
WETTING RAINS...AND POST FRONTAL SHOWERS ARE ALSO LIKELY DURING THE
   EVENING/OVERNIGHT ACROSS WY.
