...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR A PORTION OF THE NRN HIGH
   PLAINS...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR A PORTION OF THE NRN ROCKIES/NRN
HIGH PLAINS DUE TO DRY THUNDERSTORMS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER RIDGE WILL REMAIN THE DOMINANT FEATURE OVER THE WRN CONUS
THROUGH THE PERIOD. A SHORTWAVE TROUGH MOVING SEWD THROUGH SRN
CANADA WILL PROVIDE FOR INCREASED WLY SFC WINDS BEHIND A LEE TROUGH.
THE COMBINATION OF MODERATE WINDS ALONG WITH LOW RH READINGS WILL
PROVIDE FOR A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT TO PORTIONS OF THE NRN
PLAINS. INCREASED LIFT IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE SHORTWAVE TROUGH
ALONG WITH LEADING EDGE OF MONSOONAL MOISTURE WILL AID IN SCT TSTM
DEVELOPMENT OVER THE NRN ROCKIES. MOST OF THESE STORMS WILL PRODUCE
LITTLE IF ANY PRECIPITATION ON THE GROUND LEADING TO AN ADDITIONAL
CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT. OTHERWISE THE PRESENCE OF THE UPPER
RIDGE WILL AID IN A CONTINUATION OF ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES OVER
   MUCH OF THE WEST.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA 1 - NCENTRAL/NERN MT...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED WINDS UP TO 20 MPH WITH WIND
SHIFT...MIN RH READINGS AROUND 15 PERCENT

SFC LEE TROUGH WILL SHIFT EWD ACROSS ERN MT EARLY IN THE PERIOD
BEFORE MOVING INTO FAR WRN ND BY MID AFTERNOON. INCREASING MID LVL
WLY FLOW IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE APPROACHING SHORTWAVE TROUGH OVER
SWRN CANADA ALONG WITH STEEP/NEAR DRY ADIABATIC LAPSE RATES UP TO
THE MID LEVELS WILL SUPPORT INCREASED WINDS AT THE SFC. SUSTAINED
WLY WINDS UP TO 20 MPH CAN BE EXPECTED OVER NCENTRAL/NERN MT...WITH
SLIGHTLY LESSER VALUES OVER THE REST OF CENTRAL/ERN MT DURING THE
AFTERNOON HOURS. WELL ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND DRY CONTINENTAL
AIRMASS WILL SUPPORT MIN RH READINGS AROUND 15 PERCENT. A COLD FRONT
WILL MOVE SOUTH OF THE CANADIAN BORDER BEGINNING AROUND 21Z..AND AID
IN WIND SHIFTING TO THE NORTH ALONG WITH SLOWLY IMPROVING RH VALUES.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA 2 - REMAINDER OF CENTRAL/ERN MT...NRN
   WY...

   PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SCT DRY TSTMS

THE SHORTWAVE OVER SWRN CANADA SHOULD AID IN INCREASING LIFT ALONG
THE LEADING EDGE OF MID-LEVEL MONSOONAL MOISTURE OVER THE NRN
ROCKIES. THIS WILL SUPPORT SCT TSTM DEVELOPMENT THIS AFTERNOON.
SINCE THE BOUNDARY LAYER WILL REMAIN VERY WARM AND DRY...CLOUD BASES
ARE EXPECTED TO BE MORE THAN 12 KFT AGL...SUPPORTING LITTLE IF ANY
RAINFALL AT THE SFC. TSTMS ARE ANTICIPATED TO DEVELOP FIRST OVER THE
HIGHER TERRAIN OF SCENTRAL MT/NWRN WY BEFORE MOVING EWD INTO THE
LOWER ELEVATIONS. ADDITIONAL SCT MAINLY DRY TSTMS ARE POSSIBLE ALONG
THE LEE TROUGH OVER FAR ERN MT EARLY-MID AFTERNOON.

   ...INTERIOR VALLEYS OF CA...
ANOTHER HOT DAY WILL OCCUR OVER INTERIOR CA WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES
FROM 105-110 DEG F. RELATIVELY DRY AIR WITH DEWPTS IN THE 30S/40S
WILL SUPPORT MIN RH READINGS AROUND 10 PERCENT. SUSTAINED WINDS ARE
FORECAST TO AVERAGE 10 MPH OR LESS...EXCEPT IN LOCALIZED AREAS WHERE
TERRAIN WILL AID IN SLIGHTLY HIGHER SUSTAINED WINDS/GUSTS.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0355 AM CDT SUN AUG 07 2005

   VALID 081200Z - 091200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
WHILE THE UPPER RIDGE WILL REMAIN DOMINANT OVER THE WEST...SLIGHT
SWD MOVEMENT OF THE CENTER WILL OCCUR AS A SHORTWAVE TROUGH MOVES
INTO THE NRN PLAINS FROM SRN CANADA. AN ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT WILL
MOVE INTO THE NRN PLAINS DURING THE PERIOD. SOUTH OF THE FRONT OVER
THE CENTRAL ROCKIES/PLAINS...WELL ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES WILL
AGAIN BE PRESENT. MONSOONAL MOISTURE WILL INTERACT WITH THE FRONT TO
AID IN SCT TSTM DEVELOPMENT...WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF DRY TSTMS
ALONG AND SOUTH OF THE FRONT OVER WY/WRN SD.

   ...WRN SD...CENTRAL/ERN WY...
ALONG AND SOUTH OF A SFC COLD FRONT...SCT TSTMS ARE ANTICIPATED OVER
CENTRAL/ERN WY INTO WRN SD AS MONSOONAL MOISTURE INTERACTS WITH THE
FRONTAL FORCING. A VERY WARM/DRY BOUNDARY LAYER PER FCST SOUNDINGS
WILL SUPPORT HIGH CLOUD BASES AND THE POTENTIAL FOR DRY TSTMS.
ATTM...ENOUGH UNCERTAINTY EXISTS ON THE SWD EXTENT OF THE FRONTAL
POSITION AND DEGREE OF MID LVL MOISTENING THAT A CRITICAL FIRE
WEATHER OUTLOOK WILL NOT BE ISSUED.
