   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0447 AM CDT MON AUG 22 2005

   VALID 221200Z - 231200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
EARLY MORNING WATER VAPOR IMAGERY SHOWS UPPER LOW CIRCULATION MOVING
ACROSS NRN ALBERTA WITH A SRN STREAM IMPULSE ACROSS NRN CA. MID
LEVEL JET MAX NOTED IN MOISTURE CHANNEL OFF BC COAST WILL HELP CARVE
THE UPPER TROUGH ACROSS THE WRN CANADIAN PROVINCES OVER THE NEXT
24-48 HOURS. MEANWHILE...SRN STREAM DISTURBANCE WILL PROGRESS SLOWLY
EAST ACROSS THE GREAT BASIN INTO WY BY EARLY TUE. VERY COOL TEMPS
ALOFT /-12C AT 500MB/ WILL CONTRIBUTE TO STEEP LAPSE RATES...AND
THIS IN COMBINATION WITH DYNAMIC LIFT FOCUSED ACROSS THE NRN ROCKIES
WILL AID IN SCATTERED TSTM DEVELOPMENT. AT THE SFC...LOW PRESSURE
WILL DEEPEN ACROSS CNTRL MT WITH COLD FRONT GLANCING THE NRN
   PORTIONS OF THE STATE.

   ...PACIFIC NORTHWEST/ID AND MT...
MARINE PUSH ACROSS ORE/WA WILL RESULT IN MUCH COOLER TEMPS
TODAY...ALTHOUGH BREEZY AFTN WINDS ARE EXPECTED THROUGH THE PASSES.
BEST LARGE SCALE ASCENT WILL BE CONCENTRATED ACROSS EXTREME ERN
ORE/ID INTO WRN MT/WY. WHILE ISOLD DRY TSTMS ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS ERN
PORTIONS OF ORE...DRIER AIR ADVECTING INTO THE REGION FROM THE WEST
WILL EFFECTIVELY DIMINISH CHANCES FOR CONVECTION FOR MUCH OF CNTRL
ORE. FARTHER EAST...THERE WILL BE A MIX OF WET/DRY TSTMS. THE
GREATEST AREA OF CONCERN FOR DRY LIGHTNING WILL BE ACROSS THE UPPER
SNAKE RIVER PLAIN/SAWTOOTH RANGE INTO SW MT.

FORECAST SOUNDINGS SUGGEST PW VALUES ACROSS NRN UT INTO PORTIONS OF
WRN MT ARE GENERALLY ABOVE 0.75 IN...SO WHILE SOME DRY LIGHTNING IS
LIKELY...THERE SHOULD BE A TRANSITION TO WET STORMS.

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
WRN TROUGH BEGINS TO DIG IN EARNEST ON TUE...EVENTUALLY DEVELOPING A
CLOSED UPPER LOW ACROSS NRN ID BY EARLY EVENING. MID LEVEL WINDS
WILL INCREASE TO 50-55KT ACROSS CNTRL/ERN ORE INTO SRN ID AND MT.
SFC COLD FRONT WILL ACCELERATE ACROSS MUCH OF ID AND WRN MT...WITH
BREEZY SFC WINDS DEVELOPING ACROSS SE ORE/SNAKE RIVER PLAIN AND
   PARTS OF UT/WY.

   ...ERN ORE/SRN ID/SW MT/NRN UT...
IT APPEARS BEST CHANCE FOR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS MAY BE
IN FAVORED TERRAIN AREAS OF ERN ORE INTO THE SNAKE RIVER VALLEY AND
PERHAPS SW MT OR NRN UT. W/SW SFC WINDS WILL INCREASE INTO THE 15-25
MPH RANGE WITH HIGHER GUSTS TO 35 MPH POSSIBLE. IN ADDITION...MAX
TEMPS IN THE UPPER 80S/90S AND RH VALUES FROM 15-20 PERCENT WILL
INCREASE THE RISKS FOR WIND DRIVEN/ONGOING FIRES. IN ADDITION THERE
WILL BE A CONTINUED THREAT FOR ISOLD DRY LIGHTNING. AN OUTLOOK AREA
MAY BE ADDED IN THE NEXT OUTLOOK DEPENDING ON FORECAST RH VALUES.
