   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0333 AM CDT SAT OCT 08 2005

   VALID 081200Z - 091200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SERN CA DESERTS / FAR SRN NV / WRN
   AZ...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A STRONG UPPER TROUGH WILL MOVE SEWD ACROSS THE GREAT BASIN INTO THE
FOUR CORNERS...AND WILL BRING STRONG WINDS TO THE SWRN DESERTS WHERE
IT WILL REMAIN DRY WITHIN SYNOPTICALLY ENHANCED THERMAL LOW. COOLER
WEATHER WILL PREVAIL N OF A COLD FRONT THAT WILL EXTEND FROM CENTRAL
WY WWD ACROSS THE CENTRAL GREAT BASIN SAT AFTERNOON. FARTHER
E...STRONG SLY WINDS WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE HIGH PLAINS AS
PRESSURES LOWER AHEAD OF THE TROUGH. SURFACE RIDGE AXIS WILL BE
SITUATED FROM THE GREAT LAKES SWWD INTO ERN TX...WHERE COOL AND DRY
CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL. MEANWHILE...HEAVY RAINS WILL CONTINUE FROM
   THE MID-ATLANTIC INTO NEW ENGLAND.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA 1 - SERN CA DESERTS / FAR SRN NV / WRN
   AZ...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: MODERATE WLY WINDS / LOW RH / WIND SHIFT
   OVERNIGHT WITH POOR RH RECOVERY

WINDS WILL INCREASE DURING THE DAYLIGHT HOURS AS STRONG UPPER TROUGH
MOVES OVERHEAD. WHILE RH VALUES WILL BE UP FROM PREVIOUS
DAY...AFTERNOON MIN RH READINGS NEAR 15 PERCENT WILL BE LIKELY WITH
LOCALIZED VALUES NEAR 10 PERCENT. COMBINATION OF SWLY WIND SPEEDS OF
15-25 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS...ALONG WITH LOW RH WILL CAUSE CRITICAL
FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS FOR SEVERAL HOURS THIS AFTERNOON.
OVERNIGHT...A COLD FRONT WILL CONTINUE SWD THROUGH THE GREAT BASIN
AND WILL CAUSE WINDS ACROSS THE CRITICAL AREA TO SHIFT TO A WLY
DIRECTION. RH RECOVERY WILL BE POOR AS A RESULT IN THE LOWER
ELEVATIONS...WHERE WLY WINDS OF 10-15 MPH WILL PERSIST OVERNIGHT
   WITH MODERATELY LOW RH.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0335 AM CDT SAT OCT 08 2005

   VALID 091200Z - 101200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY AND
   VICINITY...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER TROUGH WILL BECOME STATIONARY ACROSS THE CENTRAL
ROCKIES...WITH PACIFIC HIGH PRESSURE COVERING MOST OF THE WRN
STATES. LEADING EDGE OF ADVANCING PACIFIC HIGH WILL EXTEND ACROSS
SRN CO INTO NRN AZ / SRN NV AND SRN CA AS A COLD FRONT...WHICH WILL
BRING COOLER AIR INTO THE SWRN DESERTS. IT WILL BE WINDY AS A
RESULT...WITH CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS DUE TO COMBINATION OF
WINDS AND LOW RH ACROSS THE CO RIVER VALLEY REGION. INCREASING
PRESSURES ACROSS THE GREAT BASIN INTO SRN WILL ALSO CAUSE SANTA ANA
WINDS TO DEVELOP TOWARD THE END OF THE PERIOD EARLY MONDAY.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA 1 - LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY AND
   VICINITY...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG NWLY WINDS / LOW RH

AS HIGH PRESSURE CONTINUES TO FILTER IN FROM THE N...AND WITH STRONG
UPPER JET OVERHEAD...HEATING AND MECHANICAL MIXING WILL HELP PRODUCE
SUSTAINED NWLY WINDS OF 20-25 MPH WITH GUSTS OVER 30 MPH DURING THE
AFTERNOON HOURS. RH WILL REMAIN LOW AND NEAR 15 PERCENT AT PEAK
HEATING...WITH MIXING LAYERS OF 5000-7500 FT. RH RECOVERY WILL BE
   POOR OVERNIGHT IN THE LOWLANDS.

   ...SRN CA...
ADVANCING HIGH PRESSURE WILL CAUSE AN INCREASE IN NLY WINDS
OVERNIGHT SUNDAY INTO MONDAY MORNING. LARGE SCALE WIND SPEEDS WILL
BE ON THE ORDER OF 15-20 MPH ACROSS THE DESERTS BUT WILL ACCELERATE
THROUGH PASSES AND CANYONS WHICH WILL ALSO LOWER RH VALUES LOCALLY.
AT THIS TIME...IT APPEARS THAT COOL TEMPERATURES WILL HELP OFFSET
   THE DRYNESS OF THIS EVENT.

   ...SRN AZ...
IT WILL BE VERY WINDY SUNDAY...AS HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS INTO THE
AREA. SUSTAINED WLY WIND SPEEDS OF 20-25 MPH WITH GUSTS OVER 30 MPH
WILL BE COMMON. ALTHOUGH WINDY...RH LEVELS WILL LIKELY REMAIN WELL
ABOVE CRITICAL LEVELS AT 20-30 PERCENT DUE TO COOLER TEMPERATURES.
