EMBEDDED UPPER LOW CENTERED OVER THE FOUR CORNERS AREA THIS

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA 1 - LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY AND
   VICINITY...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: MODERATE BUT GUSTY NWLY WINDS / VERY LOW RH

DRY AND WINDY CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL BEHIND A COLD FRONT THAT WILL
HAVE PASSED THROUGH THE AREA EARLY THIS MORNING. SUSTAINED WLY WINDS
OF 15-25 MPH WITH GUSTS OVER 30 MPH ARE LIKELY THIS AFTERNOON...WHEN

   ...CENTRAL AND NRN CA...
RH LEVELS WILL BE LOW THROUGHOUT MOST OF CENTRAL AND NRN CA
TODAY...DUE TO NLY AND ELY DOWNSLOPE FLOW RESULTING FROM HIGH
PRESSURE TO THE EAST. MIN RH VALUES OF 20-25 PERCENT ARE LIKELY

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0314 AM CDT SUN OCT 09 2005

   VALID 101200Z - 111200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SRN CA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER LOW EMBEDDED WITHIN LARGE SCALE TROUGH WILL SLOWLY MOVE EWD
INTO THE SRN ROCKIES AND HIGH PLAINS ON MONDAY...WITH SHORTWAVE
RIDGE OVER CA. AT THE SURFACE...A SPRAWLING AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE
WILL COVER MOST OF THE COUNTRY FROM THE GREAT BASIN EWD TO THE OH
RIVER VALLEY. COMBINATION OF HIGH PRESSURE IN THE GREAT BASIN ALONG
WITH FAVORABLE ALIGNED WINDS ALOFT ON BACK SIDE OF TROUGH WILL ALLOW
FOR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS IN THE FORM OF SANTA ANA WINDS
   OVER SRN CA.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA 1 - SRN CA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: MODERATE SANTA ANA WINDS AND VERY LOW RH

SANTA ANA WINDS WILL DEVELOP MONDAY MORNING AND LAST THROUGH THE
DAY. ALTHOUGH NOT A PARTICULARLY STRONG EVENT...RH WILL BE VERY LOW
AT 10-15 PERCENT AND WILL CAUSE CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS TO
MATERIALIZE. MODELS SUGGEST SUSTAINED NELY WINDS OF 15-25 MPH WILL
BE POSSIBLE WITH MUCH HIGHER GUSTS IN TOPOGRAPHICALLY FAVORABLE
LOCATIONS. SANTA ANA WINDS WILL BECOME LIGHT LATE MONDAY INTO
TUESDAY MORNING AS PRESSURE GRADIENTS RELAX...AND UPPER LEVEL RIDGE
   BUILDS OVERHEAD.

   ...LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY...
WINDS WILL NOT BE AS STRONG AS PREVIOUS DAY...ONLY AVERAGING NEAR 15
MPH...BUT IT WILL REMAIN DRY WITH RH NEAR 15 PERCENT AND GUSTY.
STEEP LOW LEVEL LAPSE RATES WILL HELP ENHANCE TURBULENCE AND
GUSTINESS OF WINDS MONDAY AFTERNOON...WHICH COULD BE OF CONCERN
   SHOULD ANY FIRES BE ONGOING.

   ...CENTRAL AND NRN CA VALLEYS...
WINDS WILL ALSO BE LIGHTER INTO NRN CA WITHIN THERMAL RIDGE.
TEMPERATURES WILL RISE INTO THE MID 80S WITH LOW RH NEAR 20-25
   PERCENT.
