...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR A PORTION OF THE SRN HIGH PLAINS
   REGION...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A STRONG UPPER TROUGH WILL MOVE FROM THE SRN ROCKIES INTO THE SRN
PLAINS THROUGH THE PERIOD. AN ASSOCIATED DRYLINE WILL SHIFT EWD FROM
ERN NM AT THE START OF TODAY INTO WRN OK BY SUNDAY MORNING. TO THE
WEST OF THE DRYLINE...MODERATE WINDS AND LOW RH READINGS WILL LEAD
TO A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT. ELSEWHERE ACROSS THE NATION...WLY
WINDS WILL INCREASE OVER THE MID-ATLANTIC/WRN NEW ENGLAND REGION
BEHIND ANOTHER UPPER TROUGH. HOWEVER...THE COMBINATION OF MIN RH
READINGS ABOVE 30 PERCENT AND PRECIP THIS MORNING WILL PRECLUDE ANY
FIRE WEATHER THREAT IN THESE REGIONS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA 1 - PORTIONS OF WRN TX...ERN NM...SERN
CO AND THE WRN OK PANHANDLE...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: WSWLY WINDS FROM 20-25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 40
   MPH...MIN RH READINGS 10-15 PERCENT...LONG TERM DROUGHT

AHEAD OF A PROGRESSIVE UPPER TROUGH MOVING THROUGH THE SWRN
STATES...A SFC DRYLINE WILL MIX EWD TO A POSITION FROM SWRN KS TO
THE CENTRAL OK/TX PANHANDLES SWD INTO SWRN TX BY MID-AFTERNOON. TO
THE WEST OF THE DRYLINE...DRY AIR WITH DWPTS IN THE 20S/30S ALONG
WITH WARM TEMPERATURES IN THE 70S/80S...AIDED BY DOWNSLOPE
FLOW...WILL GENERATE MIN RH READINGS FROM 10-15 PERCENT. WEAK MID
LEVEL COLD ADVECTION WILL AID IN STEEPENING MID LEVEL LAPSE RATES.
THIS COUPLED WITH MODERATE WIND FIELDS AND STEEP LOW LEVEL LAPSE
RATES WILL GENERATE SUSTAINED SFC WINDS FROM 20-25 MPH...WITH GUSTS
UP TO 40 MPH IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF SWRN TX/SERN NM. WINDS WILL
DIMINISH GRADUALLY IN LOWER ELEVATIONS OVERNIGHT...BUT SHOULD REMAIN
ABOVE CRITICAL LEVELS IN HIGHER TERRAIN LEADING TO POOR RH RECOVERY.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0302 AM CST SAT APR 01 2006

   VALID 021200Z - 031200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR A PORTION OF THE SRN PLAINS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A STRONG UPPER SYSTEM WILL MOVE EWD FROM THE SRN PLAINS INTO THE MS
VALLEY BY THE END OF DAY TWO. ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYSTEM....A SFC
DRYLINE WILL MOVE EWD INTO ERN KS/ERN OK BY THE AFTERNOON. TO THE
WEST OF THE DRYLINE...MODERATE WLY SFC WINDS COUPLED WITH LOW RH
READINGS WILL LEAD TO ANOTHER DAY OF CRITICAL/NEAR CRITICAL
CONDITIONS OVER THE SRN PLAINS. FURTHER EAST...WLY WINDS WILL USHER
IN DRY AIR TO NEW ENGLAND. DESPITE LOW RH READINGS FROM 25-35
PERCENT IN THIS AREA...RAINFALL ON DAY ONE AND MARGINAL WINDS ARE
EXPECTED TO LIMIT A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA 1 - PORTIONS OF WRN TX....FAR WRN
OK...ERN NM AND SERN CO/SWRN KS...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: W-NWLY WINDS FROM 20-25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 35
MPH....MIN RH READINGS FROM 15-25 PERCENT...LONG TERM DROUGHT

A DRYLINE IS FCST TO MOVE WELL EAST INTO OK/KS DURING THE DAY IN
ASSOCIATION WITH THE STRONG UPPER SYSTEM MOVING THROUGH THE
SRN/CENTRAL PLAINS. BEHIND THE DRYLINE...MODERATE WIND FIELDS AND
STEEP LAPSE RATES WILL SUPPORT ANOTHER BREEZY DAY OVER PORTIONS OF
THE SRN PLAINS. AS AN AREA OF SURFACE LOW PRESSURE MOVES INTO IA...A
COLD FRONT WILL PUSH SEWD THROUGH ERN CO/WRN KS DURING THE
AFTERNOON. STEEP LAPSE RATES THROUGH THE DEEPEST LAYER WILL OCCUR IN
THIS REGION SUPPORTING NWLY WINDS GUSTING UP TO 35 MPH. FURTHER
SOUTH WIND FIELDS ARE LIKELY TO BE STRONGEST PRIOR TO 21Z...AS THE
SFC PRESSURE GRADIENT AND LOW LEVEL WINDS GRADUALLY WEAKEN DURING
THE AFTERNOON. HOWEVER...GIVEN A MILD/BREEZY START TO THE
DAY...CRITICAL CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY BY 16Z OVER MUCH OF THE WRN
TX/ERN NM AND FAR WRN OK.

...REST OF WRN AND CENTRAL OK...
THE AREA WILL LIKELY SEE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HVY RAINFALL LATE ON DAY
ONE. THUS DESPITE CRITICALLY LOW RH READINGS AND MODERATE WINDS IN
THE WAKE OF A DRYLINE ON DAY TWO...IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT A CRITICAL
FIRE WEATHER THREAT WILL NOT EXIST.

   ..SRN NEW ENGLAND...
NWLY WINDS WILL AVERAGE 15-20 MPH IN THE WAKE OF AN SFC-UPPER SYSTEM
MOVING INTO THE CANADIAN MARITIMES. WITH ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES
IN THE 55-65 DEG RANGE...DWPTS IN THE 20S WILL PRODUCE MIN RH
READINGS FROM 20-30 PERCENT. LIGHT-MODERATE RAINFALL EXPECTED ON DAY
ONE AND MARGINAL WINDS SHOULD PRECLUDE A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
   THREAT.
