   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0230 AM CDT FRI JUL 28 2006

   VALID 281200Z - 291200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR ERN ORE/ID/SW MT...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR WRN SD/WRN NEB...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
EARLY MORNING WATER VAPOR LOOPS SHOW UPPER LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM
DIGGING SOUTH OUT OF THE GULF OF AK. MID LEVEL FLOW ACROSS THE
NORTHWEST/NRN ROCKIES HAS ALREADY INCREASED SINCE THURSDAY...AND AS
SYSTEM APPROACHES...STRENGTHENING WINDS AT ALL LEVELS WILL
CONTRIBUTE TO CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS THROUGH THE WEEKEND.
RIDGE WILL BUILD ACROSS THE NRN PLAINS...WITH EVEN HOTTER TEMPS
TODAY...AND INCREASING WINDS FROM SFC TROUGH. OVER THE
NORTHWEST...LOCALLY GUSTY WINDS ARE LIKELY BUT STRONGER WINDS ARE
   FORECAST FOR THIS WEEKEND.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - ERN ORE/ID/SW MT...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED WINDS 15-20 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS/LOW
RH/VERY HIGH TO EXTREME FIRE DANGER

ALTHOUGH TEMPS WILL BE COOLER ALONG THE ERN SLOPES OF THE
CASCADES...DRY WLY WINDS WILL INCREASE FIRE DANGER. A FRONT IS
FORECAST TO EXTEND FROM NW MT THROUGH SCNTRL ORE BY EVENING...AND
TEMPS SOUTH AND EAST OF THE BOUNDARY WILL RANGE FROM THE 90S TO 105.
THIS INCLUDES AREAS FROM THE TREASURE VALLEY TO SWRN MT. VERY STEEP
LAPSE RATES WILL BE IN PLACE AND THIS WILL ALLOW DEEP MIXING TO
OCCUR. MIN RH VALUES WILL DROP TO 10-15 PERCENT IN AREAS WHERE TEMPS
CLIMB INTO THE 90S OR HIGHER.

ISOLD DRY TSTMS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE ACROSS THE ID/MT PORTIONS OF THE
OUTLOOK AREA. MID LEVEL MOISTURE IS FORECAST TO BE SUFFICIENT FOR
TSTMS...AND INVERTED-V PROFILES SUPPORT VERY STRONG WIND
GUSTS...WITH LITTLE OR NO RAIN POSSIBLE WITH SOME STORMS. MOST
LIKELY AREA FOR STORMS WILL BE ACROSS THE SAWTOOTH AND BITTERROOT
RANGES AND ALONG THE DIVIDE AND SWRN MTNS IN MONTANA.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - WRN SD/WRN NEB...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG SFC WINDS/VERY HOT TEMPS/LOW RH/VERY HIGH
   FIRE DANGER

AS A LEE TROUGH DEEPENS ACROSS SERN MT/NERN WY TODAY...SFC WINDS
WILL INCREASE ACROSS THE PLAINS. WITH MAX TEMPS IN SOME LOCATIONS
NEAR 105-108...MIN RH VALUES WILL FALL TO NEAR 10-15 PERCENT. VERY
STEEP LAPSE RATES AND HIGH HAINES VALUES SUGGEST THE POTENTIAL FOR
PLUME DOMINATED FIRES WILL BE ENHANCED...PARTICULARLY BECAUSE THE
STRONGEST MID/HIGH LEVEL WINDS WILL BE FARTHER NORTH ACROSS ND AND
CANADA. VERY LIGHT WINDS ALOFT WILL BE IN PLACE ACROSS WRN NEB.
STRONGER WINDS ARE EXPECTED ON SATURDAY.

DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK CORR 1
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0928 AM CDT FRI JUL 28 2006

   VALID 291200Z - 301200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NERN CA/NRN NV/SERN ORE/ID/WRN
   MT...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SD/ND...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
STRONG UPSTREAM TROUGH NOW AMPLIFYING OFF THE NORTHWEST COAST WILL
EJECT ACROSS THE NRN ROCKIES ON SATURDAY. MODERATELY STRONG MID
LEVEL FLOW WILL INCREASE INTO THE 40-60 KT RANGE...RESULTING IN
GUSTY SFC WINDS ACROSS A BROAD AREA ON SATURDAY. A COLD FRONT WILL
EXTEND ACROSS ERN ORE BY SATURDAY AFTN...WITH STRONG SW WINDS IN THE
WARM SECTOR. GIVEN NUMEROUS ONGOING WILDFIRES...AND VERY HIGH TO
EXTREME FIRE DANGER CLASS OBSERVATIONS...A CRITICAL AREA IS
WARRANTED. IN THE PLAINS...STRONG SLY WINDS WILL INCREASE INVOF
   DEEPENING LEE TROUGH.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - NERN CA/NRN NV/SERN ORE/ID/WRN MT...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG SW WINDS 15-20 MPH/MIN RH VALUES BELOW 15
   PERCENT/EXTREME FIRE DANGER

MAX TEMPS ARE AGAIN FORECAST TO BE IN THE 90S WITH MIN RH VALUES
BELOW 15-20 PERCENT. THESE ABOVE NORMAL TEMPS COMBINED WITH
INCREASED WINDS WILL CONTRIBUTE TO CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS.
AS COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH SERN ORE ON SATURDAY...SHIFTING WINDS
COULD POSE ANOTHER DANGER. SOME OF THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED
ACROSS SWRN MT AND NERN CA THROUGH THE NRN GREAT BASIN. FORECAST
SOUNDINGS ALSO SUGGEST THE POSSIBILITY OF HIGH BASED TSTMS WITH DRY
LIGHTNING. INCREASED FORCING FOR ASCENT IS MAXIMIZED ACROSS WRN MT
LATE SATURDAY AFTN. SCATTERED STORMS ARE LIKELY ACROSS THE SAWTOOTH
MTNS AND WRN MT...WITH ISOLD STORMS POSSIBLE ACROSS ECNTRL/NERN ORE.
ISOLD DRY LIGHTNING AND GUSTY WINDS ARE LIKELY WITH STORMS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SD/ND...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED WINDS 15-25 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS/MIN
RH VALUES BELOW 15 PERCENT/VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER

SFC LOW IS FORECAST TO DEEPEN ACROSS THE NRN HIGH PLAINS ON SATURDAY
BY BOTH THE NAM/GFS MODELS...WITH THE GFS SHOWING STRONGER WINDS
ACROSS THE PLAINS. SUSTAINED WINDS OF 15-25 MPH WILL LIKELY
DEVELOP...WITH HIGHER GUSTS POSSIBLE. MAX TEMPS WILL AGAIN RANGE
FROM THE UPPER 90S TO AROUND 110 DEGREES. TEMP/DEWPOINT SPREADS WILL
EXCEED 50-60 DEGREES...WITH MIN RH VALUES FALLING TO NEAR 10
PERCENT. THREAT FOR WIND DRIVEN GRASS FIRES WILL BE GREATLY
INCREASED...ESPECIALLY WITH 10 HR FUEL MOISTURE VALUES BELOW 4
   PERCENT.

   ...CNTRL/SRN PLAINS...
MODERATELY STRONG WINDS ACROSS THE PLAINS WILL INCREASE THE WILDFIRE
THREAT ON SATURDAY...AS TEMPS CLIMB INTO THE 90S OR HIGHER.
HOWEVER...SLIGHTLY HIGHER DEWPOINTS WILL KEEP MIN RH VALUES ABOVE
   CRITICAL VALUES.
