   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0410 AM CDT SUN JUL 30 2006

   VALID 301200Z - 311200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR FAR NERN CA/SERN OR/NRN NV/CNTRL
AND SRN ID/NWRN WY/MUCH OF MT...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR S-CNTRL SD/CNTRL NEB/FAR NWRN
   KS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
STRONG UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH ALONG THE PACIFIC NW COAST WILL LIFT
NEWD...ACROSS THE FAR NRN ROCKIES INTO THE SRN CANADIAN PRAIRIES BY
MONDAY MORNING. A BAND OF MODERATELY STRONG MID-LEVEL FLOW OF 30 TO
50 MPH IS EXPECTED TO SPREAD ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE NRN GREAT BASIN
THIS MORNING INTO THE FAR NRN HIGH PLAINS TONIGHT. FURTHER E...A LEE
SURFACE PRESSURE TROUGH ALONG THE CNTRL HIGH PLAINS SHOULD SHIFT
SLOWLY EWD. A SEASONALLY STRONG PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL EXIST TO ITS
E...ACROSS MUCH OF THE CNTRL PLAINS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - FAR NERN CA/SERN OR/NRN NV/CNTRL AND
   SRN ID/NWRN WY/MUCH OF MT...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS / LOW RH / VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER

POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR A WIDESPREAD AREA OF CRITICAL CONDITIONS
TODAY...AS A STRONG SHORTWAVE TROUGH LIFTS NE FROM THE PACIFIC NW
INTO S-CNTRL CANADA. 10000 FT MSL WINDS ARE ALREADY AROUND 40-45 MPH
PER ERN OR/NWRN NV VAD PROFILER DATA. THESE STRONG MID-LEVEL WINDS
WILL SHIFT NEWD THROUGH TODAY AND TONIGHT. SUSTAINED SURFACE SPEEDS
SHOULD REACH 20 TO 25 MPH OVER MUCH OF THE CRITICAL AREA...WITH
GUSTS TO AROUND 40 MPH. THE STRONGEST WINDS WILL LIKELY OCCUR LATE
THIS AFTERNOON INTO THIS EVENING ACROSS THE SAWTOOTHS AND TETONS
INTO MUCH OF MT...AS LOW-LEVEL LAPSE RATES STEEPEN THROUGH DAYTIME
HEATING AND A COLD FRONT PASSAGE OCCURS. WINDS WILL ALSO SWITCH FROM
THE SW TO THE NW DURING THE FRONTAL PASSAGE. TEMPERATURES SHOULD
GENERALLY REACH THE 80S AND 90S...WITH RH VALUES FALLING TO BETWEEN
   10 AND 20 PERCENT.

ISOLATED TO WIDELY SCATTERED DRY TSTMS SHOULD ALSO DEVELOP ALONG THE
MT ROCKIES. CONVECTIVE COVERAGE SHOULD REMAIN LIMITED BY A STRONG
CAPPING INVERSION FURTHER E. IN ADDITION...WINDS ABOVE 20 MPH SHOULD
NOT OCCUR ON THE MT HIGH PLAINS UNTIL AFTER COLD FRONT PASSAGE THIS
EVENING INTO EARLY MONDAY MORNING. ALTHOUGH...RH VALUES WILL BE
ABOVE 20 PERCENT BY THIS TIME...THE STRENGTH OF THE WINDS WILL KEEP
   POOR RH RECOVERY FROM OCCURRING.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - S-CNTRL SD/CNTRL NEB/FAR NWRN KS...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS / LOW RH / SEVERE DROUGHT

AS A LEE SURFACE PRESSURE TROUGH MOVES SLOWLY EWD...THE STRONGER
PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL SHIFT SEWD IN THE CNTRL PLAINS. THE STRONGEST
WINDS WILL OCCUR BENEATH A SSW TO NNE ORIENTED LOW-LEVEL JET WITH
MOISTURE GREATER HERE THAN IN LOCATIONS FURTHER WNW. A CORRIDOR OF
SUSTAINED SPEEDS AROUND 20 MPH ALONG WITH RH VALUES AROUND 20
PERCENT SHOULD OCCUR IN BETWEEN THE DRIER AIR TO THE NW AND THE
STRONGER WINDS TO THE SE. TEMPERATURES HERE WILL BE HOT ONCE AGAIN
WITH READINGS FROM THE UPPER 90S TO AROUND 110.

   ...COLUMBIA BASIN OF WA...
LOCALIZED CRITICAL CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP BRIEFLY THIS AFTERNOON
AFTER PASSAGE OF A STRONG SHORTWAVE TROUGH. SUSTAINED WLY WINDS
AROUND 20 MPH ARE LIKELY ACROSS MUCH OF THE BASIN. HOWEVER...COOLER
TEMPERATURES GENERALLY FROM AROUND 75 TO 80 SHOULD MITIGATE THE
CRITICAL THREAT. WITH DEW POINTS IN THE 30S...MIN RH VALUES SHOULD
RANGE FROM 20 TO 25 PERCENT.

...MUCH OF WRN KS/WRN OK/PORTIONS OF THE OK AND TX PANHANDLES...
STRONG SLY WINDS WILL BE PRESENT BENEATH A LOW-LEVEL JET LOCATED
ACROSS THE PANHANDLES TOWARDS THE LOWER MO RIVER VALLEY. GUSTY WINDS
TO AROUND 30 MPH SHOULD OCCUR THIS AFTERNOON AS LOW-LEVEL LAPSE
RATES STEEPEN THROUGH DAYTIME HEATING. ALTHOUGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE
HOT FROM THE MID 90S TO NEAR 105...DEW POINTS SHOULD ONLY MIX OUT
INTO THE MID 50S TO AROUND 60. THUS...RH VALUES SHOULD FALL TO
   AROUND 25 PERCENT.

DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK RESENT 2
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0551 AM CDT SUN JUL 30 2006

   VALID 311200Z - 011200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR PORTIONS OF ERN MT/NERN WY/WRN
   SD/SWRN ND...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
STRONG SHORTWAVE TROUGH ACROSS S-CNTRL CANADA WILL CONTINUE TO LIFT
NEWD...WHILE ANOTHER TROUGH DEVELOPS INTO THE GREAT BASIN REGION. AT
THE SURFACE...A COLD FRONT WILL DIVE SEWD ACROSS THE NRN
PLAINS...WITH LOW PRESSURE ANCHORING ACROSS ERN CO. STRONG NWLY
WINDS WILL OCCUR BEHIND THE FRONT. STRONG SLY WINDS WILL CONTINUE
AHEAD OF THE FRONT ACROSS MUCH OF THE CNTRL PLAINS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - PORTIONS OF ERN MT/NERN WY/WRN
   SD/SWRN ND...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS / SEVERE DROUGHT / LOW RH

GUSTY NW WINDS IN EXCESS OF 20 MPH WILL LIKELY BE ONGOING MONDAY
MORNING...BEHIND A COLD FRONT. THE WINDS MAY STRENGTHEN A LITTLE
THROUGH LATE MORNING AS DAYTIME MIXING ENSUES. HOWEVER...WINDS WILL
GRADUALLY DIMINISH AS THE SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENT WEAKENS LATER IN
THE DAY. ALTHOUGH RH VALUES WILL BE ABOVE 20 PERCENT DURING THE
PERIOD OF STRONGEST WINDS...A SMALL WINDOW OF CRITICALLY LOW RH AND
STRONG WINDS SHOULD CO-EXIST BY EARLY AFTERNOON...AS TEMPERATURES
WARM INTO THE MID 80S TO MID 90S.

...WRN KS/WRN OK/TX AND OK PANHANDLES...
ANOTHER DAY OF BREEZY SLY WINDS SHOULD CONTINUE ACROSS PORTIONS OF
THE CNTRL/SRN PLAINS. SUSTAINED SPEEDS AROUND 25 MPH WILL BE COMMON
WITH GUSTS APPROACHING 40 MPH. TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN QUITE
WARM...IN THE MID 90S TO NEAR 105. SOME UNCERTAINTY EXISTS WITH THE
AMOUNT OF LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE THAT WILL BE PRESENT. IF SOME DRYING
CAN OCCUR...RH VALUES MAY APPROACH 20 PERCENT DURING THE LATE
AFTERNOON HOURS...AND PORTIONS OF THIS AREA COULD BE UPGRADED TO
CRITICAL IN THE DAY 1 OUTLOOK.

   ...SRN NV/SWRN UT...
SWLY WINDS SHOULD INCREASE MONDAY AS AN UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH
APPROACHES THE GREAT BASIN. WIND SPEEDS AROUND 20 MPH WILL LIKELY BE
PRESENT BY LATE AFTERNOON/EARLY EVENING. HOWEVER...THE RELATIVE
HUMIDITY SHOULD ONLY BE MARGINALLY LOW...WITH LINGERING MONSOONAL
MOISTURE. RH VALUES WILL LIKELY RANGE FROM 20 TO 25 PERCENT WITH
   TEMPERATURES GENERALLY IN THE 90S.
