...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR CENTRAL/EASTERN ORE AND FAR
SOUTHEAST WA INTO CENTRAL ID AND SOUTHWEST MT FOR DRY
   THUNDERSTORMS...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR CENTRAL/EASTERN NV INTO SOUTHEAST
   ORE/SOUTHWEST ID...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR WESTERN ND/NORTHWEST SD...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
HOT UPPER RIDGE WILL REMAIN THE PREVALENT FEATURE ACROSS THE
CENTRAL/SOUTHEAST STATES. THE PRIMARY BELT OF MODERATE/STRONG
WESTERLIES WILL BE CONFINED TO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND FAR
NORTHERN TIER AND NORTHEAST STATES. BECOMING EMBEDDED WITHIN THIS
FLOW REGIME...PERSISTENT UPPER LOW WILL PROGRESS FROM NEAR THE
NORTHERN CA COAST THIS MORNING INTO ORE TONIGHT.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - CENTRAL/EASTERN ORE AND FAR
SOUTHEAST WA INTO CENTRAL ID AND SOUTHWEST MT FOR DRY
   THUNDERSTORMS...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: DRY THUNDERSTORMS AND LOCALLY GUSTY WINDS

SCATTERED MAINLY DRY THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED THIS
AFTERNOON/TONIGHT ACROSS CENTRAL/EASTERN ORE EAST OF THE CASCADE
RANGE...INTO FAR SOUTHEAST WA/CENTRAL ID AND SOUTHWEST MT. WITH
APPROACH OF SHORTWAVE TROUGH AND PRESENCE OF SUFFICIENT
INSTABILITY...DRY SUB-CLOUD LAYERS AND SUFFICIENTLY FAST STORM
MOTIONS SHOULD SUPPORT MAINLY DRY THUNDERSTORMS. THE THUNDERSTORMS
SHOULD TREND TO PREDOMINATELY WET WITH TIME TONIGHT ACROSS
CENTRAL/EASTERN ORE. IN ADDITION TO POTENTIAL FOR A NUMBER OF
LIGHTNING IGNITED FIRES...GUSTY/ERRATIC THUNDERSTORM DOWNDRAFT WINDS
MAY ADVERSELY IMPACT FIRE CONTROL EFFORTS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - CENTRAL/EASTERN NV INTO SOUTHEAST
   ORE/SOUTHWEST ID...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: GUSTY SOUTH WINDS AND LOW RH

DOWNSTREAM OF THE UPPER LOW MOVING ACROSS NORTHERN CA...AN INCREASE
IN WIND SPEEDS WILL LEAD TO A HEIGHTENED FIRE DANGER ACROSS MUCH OF
THE GREAT BASIN INTO SOUTHEAST ORE/SOUTHWEST ID TODAY. SUSTAINED
WIND SPEEDS OF 20-25 MPH ARE LIKELY /WITH HIGHER GUSTS/...ESPECIALLY
ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL NV. THE INCREASED SOUTHERLY GRADIENT WILL
PROMOTE WARM TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE REGION...WITH MINIMUM RH VALUES
   OF 10-15 PERCENT.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - WESTERN ND/NORTHWEST SD...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: GUSTY SOUTH/SOUTHEAST WINDS AND LOW RH

AS SURFACE HIGH SHIFTS EAST TOWARD THE UPPER MIDWEST...INCREASING
SOUTHERLY PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL YIELD GUSTY WINDS ACROSS MUCH OF
THE NORTHERN HIGH PLAINS TODAY. SOUTH/SOUTHEAST WINDS WILL LIKELY
REACH 20-25 MPH /WITH HIGHER GUSTS/ ACROSS THE WESTERN DAKOTAS. WARM
TEMPERATURES WILL MAINLY BE IN THE 90S...WITH MINIMUM RH VALUES
AROUND 25 PERCENT. IN ADDITION...ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS LATE THIS
AFTERNOON/EVENING COULD YIELD SOME NEW FIRE STARTS...AS WELL AS
   LOCALLY ENHANCED/ERRATIC WINDS.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0438 AM CDT MON AUG 07 2006

   VALID 081200Z - 091200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR MUCH OF MT FOR DRY
   THUNDERSTORMS...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR EASTERN NV/EASTERN ID/FAR WESTERN
   UT...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
EXPANSIVE UPPER RIDGE WILL REMAIN DOMINANT ACROSS MUCH OF THE CONUS
ON TUESDAY...NAMELY FROM THE FOUR CORNERS AREA TO MUCH OF THE
CENTRAL/SOUTHEAST STATES. ON THE PERIPHERY OF THE UPPER
RIDGE...SHORTWAVE TROUGH AND ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT WILL PROGRESS
EAST/NORTHEAST ACROSS THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST/NORTHERN INTERMOUNTAIN
   REGION AND NORTHERN GREAT BASIN.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - MUCH OF MT FOR DRY THUNDERSTORMS...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: MAINLY DRY THUNDERSTORMS AND LOCALLY GUSTY WINDS

WITH APPROACH OF SHORTWAVE TROUGH FROM THE PACIFIC
NORTHWEST...THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE FROM WEST TO EAST
ACROSS MT ON TUESDAY. A WARM/WELL-MIXED BOUNDARY LAYER SHOULD
PROMOTE A PREDOMINANCE OF DRY THUNDERSTORMS...ESPECIALLY WITH
INITIAL DEVELOPMENT ACROSS SOUTHWEST/CENTRAL MT DURING THE
AFTERNOON/EARLY EVENING. RATHER WARM TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM
THE UPPER 80S ACROSS WESTERN MT...TO THE UPPER 90S ACROSS THE HIGH
PLAINS OF EASTERN MT. THE MAINLY DRY THUNDERSTORMS COUPLED WITH HIGH
LIGHTNING IGNITION EFFICIENCIES SUGGEST A HIGH LIKLIHOOD OF SOME NEW
FIRE STARTS ACROSS MT...WITH POTENTIAL FOR ADVERSE FIRE CONTROL
   IMPACTS FROM GUSTY THUNDERSTORM DOWNDRAFTS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - EASTERN NV/EASTERN ID/FAR WESTERN
   UT...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: GUSTY WINDS AND PASSAGE OF COLD FRONT

AS SHORTWAVE TROUGH CROSSES THE NORTHWEST STATES...ASSOCIATED COLD
FRONT WILL MOVE WEST TO EAST ACROSS ID AND NORTHERN NV. STRONG/GUSTY
BROAD SCALE SOUTHERLY WINDS ARE EXPECTED ALONG/AHEAD OF THE FRONT IN
A CORRIDOR FROM SOUTH CENTRAL NV INTO EASTERN ID...WITH A WIND SHIFT
ACROSS SOUTHERN ID/NORTHERN NV ASSOCIATED WITH THE FRONTAL PASSAGE.
SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS ARE LIKELY TO REACH 15-25 MPH...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS. THE GUSTY WINDS/POTENTIAL WIND SHIFT MAY LEAD TO FAST FIRE
GROWTH/SPREAD IN THE PRESENCE OF MILD TEMPERATURES...WITH MINIMUM RH
   VALUES AROUND 15 PERCENT.

   ...NORTHERN PLAINS...
SIMILAR TO MONDAY...A MODERATELY STRONG PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL
SUPPORT GUSTY SOUTH/SOUTHEAST WINDS ACROSS THE NORTHERN PLAINS ON
TUESDAY. SUSTAINED SOUTH/SOUTHEAST WINDS OF 15-20 MPH APPEAR
LIKELY...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. TEMPERATURES WILL BE SEVERAL DEGREES
WARMER ON TUESDAY VIA THE ESTABLISHED SOUTHERLY GRADIENT...WITH HIGH
TEMPERATURES GENERALLY RANGING FROM THE LOWER TO UPPER 90S FROM EAST
TO WEST ACROSS THE DAKOTAS. OVERALL CONDITIONS COULD APPROACH
   CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THRESHOLDS.
