   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0446 AM CDT SUN AUG 13 2006

   VALID 131200Z - 141200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
SHORTWAVE TROUGH NOW ACROSS THE NRN ROCKIES WILL MOVE INTO THE NRN
PLAINS BY EVENING AND INTO THE UPPER MIDWEST BY EARLY MONDAY. SFC
COLD FRONT WILL EXTEND FROM NWRN WI THROUGH WRN IA INTO CNTRL KS BY
   THIS AFTN...PROVIDING A FOCUS FOR SHOWERS/TSTMS. STRONG POST-FRONTAL
WINDS WILL DEVELOP BEHIND THE FRONT ACROSS THE DAKOTAS/NEBRASKA AND
ERN WY. MUCH COOLER TEMPS AND HIGHER RH VALUES WILL LESSEN THE FIRE
WEATHER THREAT IN THESE AREAS. SOUTH OF THE FRONT...GUSTY WINDS AND
DRY CONDITIONS WILL RESULT IN AN INCREASED RISK FOR WIND DRIVEN
   WILDFIRE TODAY.

   ...SRN PLAINS...
SFC DEWPOINTS WILL GENERALLY BE IN THE 60S/70S TODAY...SO MIN RH
VALUES WILL ONLY DROP TO 20-25 PERCENT. SLIGHTLY LOWER /MID TO UPPER
50S/ DEWPOINTS ARE FORECAST ACROSS THE TX/OK PANHANDLES AND THE
NCNTRL TX PLAINS TO THE NRN PORTION OF THE EDWARDS PLATEAU REGION.
SHOWERS AND TSTMS WILL DEVELOP ACROSS WRN KS/NW OK/NW TX WITH
WETTING RAINS. HOWEVER...NO SIGNIFICANT RAIN IS EXPECTED FROM NCNTRL
TX SWD. RH VALUES WILL BE MARGINAL FOR WIDESPREAD CRITICAL FIRE
CONDITIONS. WITH INCREASED WIND AND ONGOING LARGE WILDFIRES IN THE
AREA...POTENTIAL FOR RAPID SPREAD/GROWTH OF WILDFIRE WILL BE
   INCREASED.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0446 AM CDT SUN AUG 13 2006

   VALID 141200Z - 151200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
SHORTWAVE RIDGE WILL AMPLIFY ON MONDAY ACROSS ALBERTA/SASKATCHEWAN
AHEAD OF DIGGING ERN PACIFIC TROUGH. MODEL GUIDANCE SUGGESTS WEAK
UPPER TROUGH WILL ALSO DEVELOP OFF THE CA COAST...GRADUALLY MOVING
ONSHORE BY EARLY TUESDAY. AT THE SFC...STRONG COLD FRONT WILL EXTEND
FROM THE OH VALLEY THROUGH AR/NCNTRL TX BY MONDAY EVENING WITH HIGH
PRESSURE BUILDING ACROSS THE NRN AND CNTRL PLAINS.

   ...CNTRL ORE...
SHORT TERM MODELS INDICATE THAT SUFFICIENT MID LEVEL MOISTURE
COMBINED WITH INCREASING LARGE SCALE ASCENT MAY SUPPORT ISOLD TSTMS
ACROSS THE ERN SLOPES OF THE CASCADES ON MONDAY AFTN. FORECAST
SOUNDINGS SHOW INVERTED-V THERMODYNAMIC PROFILES...AND WITH LARGE
TEMP/DEWPOINT SPREADS...ISOLD DRY LIGHTNING WOULD BE LIKELY WITH ANY
   STORMS THAT DEVELOP.
