...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SOUTHERN ID/SOUTHWEST MT/WESTERN
   WY/NORTHWEST UT/NORTHERN NV/FAR NORTHEAST CA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A RATHER PROGRESSIVE UPPER FLOW REGIME...WITH A NUMBER OF EMBEDDED
LOW AMPLITUDE TROUGHS...WILL REMAIN ACROSS THE NORTHERN TIER OF
STATES THROUGH THE PERIOD. ACCOMPANIED BY A COLD FRONT...TWO OF
THESE SHORTWAVE TROUGHS WILL PHASE OVER THE NORTHERN ROCKIES
TODAY...WHILE AN ADDITIONAL IMPULSE REACHES THE WA/ORE COAST BY
EARLY THURSDAY. THIS SCENARIO WILL RESULT IN A HEIGHTENED FIRE
DANGER ACROSS A LARGE PORTION OF THE NORTHERN INTERMOUNTAIN
REGION/NORTHERN GREAT BASIN. OTHERWISE...BROAD UPPER TROUGH WILL
CONTINUE TO ENCOMPASS THE NORTHEAST STATES...AS UPPER RIDGE REMAINS
   CENTERED OVER THE NORTHERN PLAINS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SOUTHERN ID/SOUTHWEST MT/WESTERN
   WY/NORTHWEST UT/NORTHERN NV/FAR NORTHEAST CA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS/LOW RH AND COLD FRONTAL PASSAGE
   ACROSS THE NORTHERN ROCKIES

SHORTWAVE TROUGH/COLD FRONT WILL SPREAD EAST ACROSS THE NORTHERN
INTERMOUNTAIN WEST TODAY...WITH A CRITICAL FIRE DANGER ACROSS A
BROAD PORTION OF THE NORTHERN ROCKIES AND NORTHERN GREAT BASIN. THE
COLD FRONT WILL SPREAD EAST ACROSS ID/WESTERN MT/FAR NORTHERN NV
DURING THE DAY...ACCOMPANIED BY MODERATELY STRONG WINDS AND A WIND
SHIFT. WELL AHEAD OF THE FRONT...WARM TEMPERATURES/LOW RH VALUES AND
GUSTY WESTERLY WINDS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS NORTHWEST UT/MUCH OF WY.
INCREASING DEEP LAYER WIND FIELDS WILL SUPPORT SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS
OF 15-30 MPH /WITH HIGHER GUSTS/...ESPECIALLY ACROSS NORTHEAST NV
   INTO SOUTHERN ID/WESTERN WY.

IN ADDITION...ISOLATED MAINLY DRY THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE
LATE THIS AFTERNOON/TONIGHT ACROSS WY AND SOUTHWEST/SOUTH CENTRAL
MT. THESE THUNDERSTORMS COULD YIELD NEW FIRE STARTS...WITH POTENTIAL
FOR GUSTY/ERRATIC DOWNDRAFT WINDS EVEN AS THE BOUNDARY LAYER TENDS
   TO STABILIZE THIS EVENING.

   ...NORTH CENTRAL HIGH PLAINS...
HOT/DRY CONDITIONS WITH MODESTLY BREEZY CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED
ACROSS EASTERN WY/SOUTHEAST MT INTO WESTERN PORTIONS OF SD AND NEB.
ALTHOUGH WIND SPEEDS WILL TEND TO BE MARGINAL /10-20 MPH OR
LESS/...VERY WARM AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES WILL BE WELL INTO THE 90S
OR LOWER 100S...WITH VERY LOW RH VALUES FROM 8-15 PERCENT FOR
SEVERAL HOURS DURATION. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS THIS
EVENING/OVERNIGHT MAY CAUSE SOME NEW FIRE STARTS.

   ...SYNOPSIS...
RELATIVELY FAST BELT OF WESTERLY MID TO UPPER FLOW WILL PERSIST
ACROSS THE NORTHERN THIRD OF THE COUNTRY. WITHIN THIS FLOW
REGIME...PRIMARY FEATURES OF NOTE WILL BE A SHORTWAVE
TROUGH/ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT CROSSING THE NORTHERN PLAINS...WHILE A
SECONDARY SHORTWAVE IMPULSE OVERSPREADS THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - EASTERN WY/SOUTHEAST MT/SOUTHWEST

SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OF 20-30 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS...MAY HAVE
CONSIDERABLE ADVERSE IMPACTS ON ANY ONGOING FIRES. POTENTIAL WILL
EXIST FOR FAST FIRE SPREAD EVEN WITH HIGHER RH VALUES/COOLER
