   A COLD FRONT STRETCHING FROM THE UPPER MIDWEST INTO THE CENTRAL
   ROCKY MOUNTAINS PUSH SOUTHWARD THROUGH THESE AREAS THROUGHOUT THE
   FORECAST PERIOD...BRINGING SOME PRECIPITATION TO THE CENTRAL PLAINS.
   A SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL BUILD IN BEHIND THE
   FRONT...BRINGING COOL TEMPERATURES AND HIGHER RELATIVE HUMIDITY
   VALUES. ACROSS THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST...AN UPPER-LEVEL RIDGE WILL
   BUILD INTO THE AREA AFTER A STORM SYSTEM PASSES TO THE
   EAST...BRINGING WARM AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES AND SOME GUSTY WINDS.

   AFTERNOON SURFACE WIND SPEEDS ARE EXPECTED TO REACH 15-25 KTS ACROSS
   THE REGION...WITH HIGHER GUSTS...AND RELATIVE HUMIDITIES WILL BE IN
   THE TEENS TO THE LOW TWENTIES. WITH FAIRLY WARM SURFACE TEMPERATURES
   IN THE MID 80S TO MID 90S F...WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE APPROACHING
   CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CRITERIA. HOWEVER...THE MAIN THREAT WILL ONLY
   EXIST FOR A FEW HOURS DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING
   DURING PEAK HEATING...AND RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES WILL RECOVER
   SOMEWHAT AFTER SUNSET.

   ACCOMPANY THIS FRONT...AND BEHIND IT...A SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE
   SYSTEM WILL BUILD BRINGING MODERATE RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES AND
   COOLER TEMPERATURES. ELSEWHERE IN THE COUNTRY...THE REMNANTS OF
   TROPICAL STORM ERNESTO WILL AFFECT MOST OF THE OHIO
   VALLEY/NY/PA...BRINGING WIDESPREAD RAINFALL TO THE REGION. NO LARGE
   SCALE CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREAS ARE EXPECTED AS THE COMBINATION OF
   ANOMALOUSLY HIGH TEMPERATURES...RELATIVE HUMIDITIES...AND SURFACE
   WINDS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
