   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0429 AM CDT SAT SEP 16 2006

   VALID 161200Z - 171200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
EXTREMELY WINDY CONDITIONS WILL OCCUR TODAY ACROSS MUCH OF THE
SRN/CNTRL ROCKIES AND ADJACENT PLAINS. MID/UPPER JET MAX WILL
INCREASE TO NEARLY 100 KT AS IT EJECTS AROUND THE BASE OF DEEPENING
UPPER LOW. NEAR CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE ESPECIALLY
ACROSS THE HIGH PLAINS. HOWEVER...COOL TEMPS/HIGHER RH VALUES WILL
OFFSET THE EFFECTS OF THE STRONG WINDS. FARTHER WEST...SFC WINDS
ACROSS SRN CA WILL BECOME INCREASINGLY OFFSHORE THROUGH THE DAY.

   ...HIGH PLAINS...
SWLY WINDS WILL BECOME MORE WLY WITH WIDESPREAD GUSTS ABOVE 30-40
MPH POSSIBLE ACROSS ERN CO/WRN KS/OK PANHANDLE. HOWEVER...RH VALUES
WILL GENERALLY BE AT LEAST 20 PERCENT OR SLIGHTLY HIGHER. WIND
DRIVEN FIRES WOULD HAVE POTENTIAL TO SPREAD QUICKLY IF IGNITIONS
   OCCURRED.

   ...SRN CA...
A DRY OFFSHORE PATTERN WILL PERSIST THROUGH THE WEEKEND...WITH ABOVE
NORMAL TEMPS EXPECTED ON SUNDAY. THE POTENTIAL FOR CRITICAL
CONDITIONS WILL INCREASE ON SUNDAY AS MIN RH VALUES FALL INTO THE
SINGLE DIGITS AND TEENS AND OFFSHORE WINDS INCREASE.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0430 AM CDT SAT SEP 16 2006

   VALID 171200Z - 181200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SRN CA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
OFFSHORE WINDS ARE FORECAST TO INCREASE ACROSS SRN CA ON
SUNDAY...ESPECIALLY WITHIN CANYONS AND PASSES. UPPER LOW PRESSURE
SYSTEM WILL BE MOVING ACROSS THE UPPER MIDWEST DURING THE DAY...AS
UPPER RIDGE AMPLIFIES ACROSS BC/ALBERTA. OFFSHORE WINDS WILL BE
ONGOING ACROSS SRN CA...AND THE COMBINATION OF INCREASING TEMPS WITH
LOW HUMIDITY WILL ENHANCE THE POTENTIAL FOR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
   CONDITIONS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SRN CA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: OFFSHORE WINDS/LOW RH VALUES BELOW 15
   PERCENT/DRY FUELS

NELY WINDS MAY INCREASE ON SUNDAY TO AROUND 15-25 MPH WITH HIGHER
GUSTS THROUGH PASSES. MAX TEMPS WILL RANGE FROM MID 80S TO LOWER 90S
INLAND...AND THIS WILL ALLOW RH VALUES TO FALL BELOW 10 PERCENT.
ADJECTIVE FIRE DANGER CLASS VALUES REMAIN HIGH TO EXTREME. SEVERAL
ONGOING LARGE FIRES CONTINUE ACROSS THE REGION...AND AN INCREASE IN
WIND MAY SUPPORT GROWTH OR SPREAD OF THESE FIRES ON SUNDAY.
