   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0257 AM CDT TUE SEP 26 2006

   VALID 261200Z - 271200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A POWERFUL UPPER TROUGH WILL BEGIN TO AMPLIFY ACROSS SRN CANADA INTO
THE NRN PLAINS/UPPER MS VALLEY...WHILE UPPER RIDGE BUILDS OVER THE
WRN/SWRN STATES. AT THE SURFACE...A LOW PRESSURE TROUGH WILL EXTEND
FROM LAKE SUPERIOR SWWD INTO NEBRASKA AND INTO ERN WY. HIGH PRESSURE
WILL BUILD BEHIND THIS TROUGH WITH INCREASED NWLY WINDS AND LOW RH
IN SPOTS. OUT WEST...EXISTENCE OF THERMAL RIDGE WILL ALLOW FOR HOT
TEMPERATURES AND VERY LOW RH...FAVORABLE FOR AFTERNOON FIRE GROWTH.

FARTHER E...A COLD FRONT WILL BE MOSTLY OFFSHORE EXCEPT ACROSS THE
FL PENINSULA WHERE STORMS WILL OCCUR. DRY AIR WILL EXIST BEHIND THIS
FRONT...WITH LOW RH LEVELS ACROSS THE GULF COAST STATES.

...SERN MT/WRN SD AND NEB/ERN WY...
WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15-25 MPH BEHIND A LOW PRESSURE TROUGH.
TEMPERATURES WILL BE RELATIVELY COOL RANGING FROM THE 60S NERN
MT/WRN ND TO NEAR 80 OVER SW NEB. RH LEVELS WILL THUS BE LOWEST
ACROSS ERN WY INTO WRN NEB...FROM 15-20 PERCENT...AND FROM 20-30
PERCENT FARTHER N INTO WRN SD AND SERN MT. COMBINATION OF INCREASED
WIND AND RH LEVELS WILL LEAD TO A MARGINAL FIRE THREAT THIS
   AFTERNOON.

   ...CNTRL ORE INTO CA...
THERMAL RIDGE WILL EXTEND FROM CNTRL OREGON SWD INTO THE LOWER CO
RIVER VALLEY. VERY WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL WITHIN THIS
ZONE WITH LIGHT WIND. THUS...POTENTIAL WILL EXIST FOR AFTERNOON FIRE
GROWTH/PLUME DOMINATION WITH ANY ONGOING FIRES.

   ...CENTRAL GULF COAST...
HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD INTO THE AREA IN WAKE OF THE RECENT COLD
FRONT PASSAGE. RH LEVELS WILL DROP INTO THE 30-35 PERCENT RANGE BY
AFTERNOON WITH TEMPERATURES INTO THE LOWER 80S. N WINDS WILL AVERAGE
5-10 MPH. RECENT RAIN AND WEAK WIND WILL HELP MITIGATE FIRE
THREAT...ALTHOUGH IT WILL BE ELEVATED DUE TO LOW RH. AREAS FROM ERN
MS INTO INLAND COUNTIES OF THE WRN FL PANHANDLE WILL SEE THE
GREATEST FIRE THREAT GIVEN MODERATELY HIGH KBDI VALUES AROUND 600.

...NRN AND ERN NM INTO WRN TX/OK PANHANDLES...
NWLY FLOW ALOFT AND STRONG HEATING WILL ALLOW A LEE TROUGH TO
DEVELOP ACROSS ERN NM/WRN TX. IT WILL BE WARM AND DRY WITH WLY WINDS
OF 15-20 MPH AND MIN RH INTO THE TEENS.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0300 AM CDT TUE SEP 26 2006

   VALID 271200Z - 281200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER AIR PATTERN WILL AMPLIFY ON WED AS LARGE UPPER TROUGH GROWS
OVER THE ERN HALF OF THE NATION...AND UPPER RIDGE BUILDS ACROSS THE
WEST. A VERY WARM AND DRY AIR MASS WILL THUS STRETCH FROM THE SRN
PLAINS WWD ACROSS THE DESERT SW/GREAT BASIN INTO THE PACIFIC NW. TO
THE EAST...A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL SHIFT QUICKLY SWD OUT OF THE NRN
PLAINS...EXTENDING FROM NRN IL INTO NRN OK BY LATE AFTERNOON. IT
WILL BE COOL AND WINDY BEHIND THIS FRONT...WHILE A DRY AIR MASS
REMAINS FROM NRN TX EWD ACROSS THE GULF COAST STATES.

...CENTRAL/NERN TX INTO THE LOWER MS VALLEY...
SLY WINDS WILL INCREASE DURING THE DAY BEFORE A COLD FRONT MOVES
THROUGH OVERNIGHT. ALTHOUGH MOISTURE WILL BE ON THE INCREASE WITH
SLY FLOW ACROSS THE WRN GULF OF MEXICO...RH WILL BE SLOW TO RECOVER
AWAY FROM THE COAST WITH STRONG HEATING. MIN RH VALUES 30-35 PERCENT
WILL BE COMMON AREAWIDE...WITH SUSTAINED SLY WINDS NEAR 15 MPH OVER
TX...AR AND LA. LIGHTER WINDS WILL PREVAIL FARTHER E INTO
MS/AL/FL...BUT RH WILL BE LOW THERE AS WELL. GIVEN RELATIVE MAXIMUM
IN KBDI VALUES ACROSS CNTRL/NERN TX INTO SRN AR/NRN LA AND CNTRL
MS...MARGINAL FIRE THREAT WILL EXIST IN THESE AREAS.

   ...OR/CA/GREAT BASIN...
IT WILL BE VERY WARM AND DRY WITH UPPER RIDGE OVERHEAD. RH LEVELS
INTO THE UPPER SINGLE DIGITS/LOWER TEENS WILL BE WIDESPREAD. WINDS
WILL BE LIGHT IN GENERAL EXCEPT VARIABLY GUSTY IN THE AFTERNOON NEAR
COMPLEX TERRAIN. DUE TO HOT TEMPERATURES AND LOW RH...POTENTIAL WILL
EXIST FOR INCREASED AFTERNOON FIRE ACTIVITY.

   ...ERN CO INTO NRN NM...
A COLD FRONT WILL SURGE SWD ACROSS THE CENTRAL HIGH PLAINS WITH VERY
WINDY CONDITIONS ACROSS WY/NEB...BUT RH VALUES WILL BE ON THE
INCREASE IN THESE AREAS. FARTHER S INTO CO...RH WILL BE LOWER FROM
15 PERCENT SERN CO TO NEAR 30 NERN CO. WELL AHEAD OF THE FRONT INTO
NRN NM...WLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TO AROUND 15 MPH WITH LOW RH NEAR
   15 PERCENT.
