   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK

   0451 AM CDT SAT OCT 21 2006

   VALID 211200Z - 221200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR A PORTION OF NRN CA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
MORNING WATER VAPOR LOOPS SHOW A SERIES OF IMPULSES EXTENDING FROM
NRN ID THROUGH THE FOUR CORNERS REGION. THE EMBEDDED JET STREAKS
WILL DIG AROUND THE BASE OF UPPER TROUGH...EVENTUALLY EMERGING BY
EARLY SUNDAY INTO THE OH RIVER VALLEY. THERMAL TROUGH ACROSS NRN CA
WILL MOVE EAST...AS PRESSURE GRADIENT DECREASES THROUGH THE DAY
RESULTING IN DIMINISHING OFFSHORE FLOW. A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL
ACCELERATE INTO THE SRN PLAINS AND MID MS VALLEY BY THIS EVENING
WITH STRONG POST FRONTAL WINDS FROM KS THROUGH N TX.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - A PORTION OF NRN CA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: NLY WINDS 15-25 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS/MIN RH
   VALUES BELOW 15 PERCENT/DRY FUELS

EARLY MORNING SFC ANALYSIS INDICATES STRONG PRESSURE GRADIENT EXISTS
FROM THE NRN GREAT BASIN TO THE CA COAST /12-14 MB FROM OAK TO WMC/
WITH MODERATE NLY FLOW ACROSS THE NRN SAC VALLEY. STRONG SFC WINDS
WILL BE MAINTAINED THROUGH AT LEAST MID MORNING...WEAKENING THIS
AFTN. ABOVE NORMAL TEMPS COMBINED WITH LOW RH VALUES BELOW 15
PERCENT WILL CONTRIBUTE TO CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS EARLY IN
THE PERIOD...MAINLY WEST OF THE SIERRA CREST THROUGH THE FOOTHILLS
   AND NRN SAC VALLEY.

   ...SRN CA...
LOCALLY BREEZY WINDS ARE POSSIBLE TODAY...BEFORE OFFSHORE GRADIENT
WEAKENS. OVERALL MAGNITUDE OF WINDS IS NOT EXPECTED TO BE GREAT
ENOUGH TO SUPPORT A CRITICAL THREAT HOWEVER.
