   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0329 AM CDT FRI OCT 27 2006

   VALID 271200Z - 281200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR PORTIONS OF SRN CA...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR FAR SRN HILL COUNTRY OF TX...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER-LEVEL LOW OVER NERN OK WILL EJECT EWD TOWARDS THE SRN
APPALACHIANS AS AN UPSTREAM TROUGH DIGS SEWD ACROSS THE WRN GREAT
LAKES. IN THE WAKE OF THESE SYSTEMS...A LARGE UPPER-LEVEL RIDGE WILL
MIGRATE SLOWLY EWD ACROSS THE SWRN CONUS. WARM AND VERY DRY
CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE BENEATH THIS RIDGE ACROSS MUCH OF CA. AT
THE SURFACE...A LARGE AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN ANCHORED
ACROSS THE INTERMOUNTAIN WEST BUT WILL GRADUALLY WEAKEN.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - PORTIONS OF SRN CA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: VERY LOW RH / GUSTY WINDS / LONG-TERM DRYNESS

ONGOING CRITICAL EVENT WILL BEGIN TO SUBSIDE TODAY AS THE SURFACE
PRESSURE GRADIENT RELAXES AND THE OFFSHORE FLOW WEAKENS ACROSS THE
AREA. HOWEVER...A PARTICULARLY LONG DURATION OF LOW RH /AOB 15
PERCENT/ WILL CONTINUE IN MANY LOCATIONS TODAY AND TONIGHT ALONG AND
DOWNSTREAM OF THE COASTAL MTNS. AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES WILL ONCE
AGAIN REACH THE 70S AND 80S...SUPPORTING MIN RH VALUES OF 3 TO 6
PERCENT. WINDS WILL DIMINISH THIS AFTERNOON...BEFORE STRENGTHENING
AGAIN THIS EVENING. OVERNIGHT SUSTAINED SPEEDS ABOVE 20 MPH SHOULD
BE CONFINED IN CANYONS AND PASSES.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - FAR SRN HILL COUNTRY OF TX...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: LONG-TERM DROUGHT / LOW RH / MODERATE WINDS

THE PASSAGE OF A COLD FRONT HAS BROUGHT GUSTY NWLY WINDS AND MUCH
DRIER AIR ACROSS THE FAR SRN HILL COUNTRY/RIO GRANDE EARLY THIS
MORNING. ALTHOUGH THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM ASSOCIATED WITH THIS FRONT
WILL PUSH FURTHER E TODAY...A MODERATE SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENT
WILL REMAIN ACROSS THE AREA. THIS WILL HELP MAINTAIN SUSTAINED WINDS
OF 20 TO 25 MPH THROUGH LATE AFTERNOON. ALTHOUGH TEMPERATURES WILL
BE COOLER TODAY /MAINLY IN THE 70S/...DEW POINTS SHOULD HOLD IN THE
MID 20S TO LOWER 30S ALLOWING MIN RH VALUES TO REACH 15 TO 20
   PERCENT.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0440 AM CDT FRI OCT 27 2006

   VALID 281200Z - 291200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER-LEVEL TROUGHS EXPECTED TO BE ACROSS THE SRN APPALACHIANS AND
WRN GREAT LAKES ON SATURDAY MORNING...SHOULD CONSOLIDATE ACROSS THE
ERN GREAT LAKES/NRN NEW ENGLAND. WHILE THE LARGE UPPER-LEVEL RIDGE
ACROSS THE SWRN CONUS SHOULD WEAKEN AND MOVE EWD AS A WEAK TROUGH
APPROACHES THE NRN CA COAST. MID-LEVEL FLOW WILL BECOME ONSHORE
ACROSS CA...WITH LOW-LEVEL OFFSHORE FLOW GREATLY DIMINISHING AS
SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE CONTINUES TO WEAKEN NEAR THE FOUR CORNERS.

   ...SRN CA COASTAL RANGE...
VERY POOR RH RECOVERIES WILL BE ONGOING SATURDAY MORNING AS MODERATE
OFFSHORE FLOW CONTINUES. SUSTAINED WINDS OF 20 TO 25 MPH SHOULD LEAD
TO LOCALIZED CRITICAL CONDITIONS IN CANYONS/PASSES THROUGH THE
MORNING. HOWEVER...WINDS SHOULD GREATLY DIMINISH IN ALL AREAS DURING
THE AFTERNOON AND ARE NOT EXPECTED TO REINTENSIFY SATURDAY EVENING.
IT WILL STILL BE WARM AND QUITE DRY DURING THE AFTERNOON WITH
TEMPERATURES IN THE 70S/80S AND MIN RH VALUES OF 4 TO 8 PERCENT.

   ...FAR ERN MT...
MODERATE WLY DOWNSLOPE FLOW WILL CONTINUE BENEATH A MID-LEVEL JET
AND AS LOW PRESSURE ORGANIZES ACROSS SRN ALBERTA ON SATURDAY
AFTERNOON. HOWEVER...MODEL GUIDANCE DISAGREES WITH THE AMOUNT OF
DRYING THAT WILL OCCUR TO THE S OF THIS LOW. MOST GUIDANCE SUGGESTS
RH VALUES MAY ONLY BE MARGINALLY LOW /AROUND 20 TO 25 PERCENT/ AS
TEMPERATURES WARM INTO THE LOWER/MIDDLE 60S.
