   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   1249 AM CST THU NOV 23 2006

   VALID 231200Z - 241200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER TROUGH WILL MOVE THROUGH THE NRN/CENTRAL ROCKIES TODAY.
THIS SYSTEM WILL AID IN A BREAKDOWN AND EWD MOVEMENT OF THE UPPER
RIDGE FROM THE SRN PLAINS INTO THE SERN STATES. THE RESULT WILL BE
MODERATE SSWLY WINDS OVER PLAINS STATES. OVER THE SRN/CENTRAL HIGH
PLAINS...LOW RH READINGS WILL COMBINE WITH THESE WINDS TO PRODUCE
NEAR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS THIS AFTERNOON. ELSEWHERE A
BROAD AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE LOW RH READINGS
OVER MUCH OF THE SERN STATES.

   ...SRN AND CENTRAL HIGH PLAINS...
GIVEN THE MORE NORTHERN POSITION OF THE STRONGEST MID LEVEL FLOW
ASSOCIATED WITH THE ROCKIES SHORTWAVE TROUGH...A FURTHER NORTH
LOCATION OF THE MAIN SFC LOW AND A WEAKER PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL
EXIST. SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS WILL AVERAGE BETWEEN 15 AND 20 MPH WITH
GUSTS OVER 25 MPH IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN. VERY WARM TEMPERATURES IN
THE 70S TO LOWER 80S COMBINED WITH DEWPTS IN THE TEENS/20S WILL
PRODUCE MIN RH READINGS AROUND 15 PERCENT. ALTHOUGH A COUPLE OF
HOURS OF CRITICAL CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE /MAINLY IN THE HIGHER
TERRAIN/ THE OVERALL THREAT DOES NOT WARRANT A CRITICAL OUTLOOK
   AREA.

...SERN STATES/PORTIONS OF THE MS VALLEY...
DRY NLY FLOW AND A SLOWLY MODIFYING AIRMASS IN THE WAKE OF THE UPPER
TROUGH OFF THE MID-ATLANTIC WILL SUPPORT LOW RH READINGS FROM 20-30
PERCENT AND VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER TO THE REGION. SUSTAINED WINDS
WILL AVERAGE AROUND 10 MPH PRECLUDING A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
   THREAT.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   1250 AM CST THU NOV 23 2006

   VALID 241200Z - 251200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
SRN STREAM TROUGH WILL MOVE INTO THE SWRN STATES...WHILE PHASING
WITH THE MEAN BROAD NRN STREAM UPPER TROUGH OVER THE WRN CONUS
THROUGH THE PERIOD. LACK OF STRONG FLOW AND A RELATIVELY MODEST
PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL PRECLUDE ANY CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT
OVER THE SRN PLAINS/SRN ROCKIES...DESPITE ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES
CONTINUING SOUTH OF A COLD FRONT. A BROAD AREA OF SFC HIGH PRESSURE
WILL REMAIN IN CONTROL OVER THE SERN STATES SUPPORTING ANOTHER DAY
OF LOW RH READINGS ACROSS THIS REGION.

   ...SERN STATES...
WITH UPPER RIDGING MOVING INTO THE REGION...A WARMING TREND WILL
CONTINUE. LOW DWPTS ASSOCIATED WITH A SFC RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE
DRAPED OVER THE REGION WILL SUPPORT MIN RH READINGS AROUND 25
PERCENT GIVEN MILD TEMPERATURES AROUND 70 DEG F. SUSTAINED NLY WINDS
LESS THAN 10 MPH WILL AGAIN PRECLUDE CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
   CONDITIONS.
