...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SRN CA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER TROUGH AXIS WILL SHIFT EWD ACROSS THE NRN PLAINS ACROSS THE
MIDWEST AND GREAT LAKES REGION WITH EXPANSIVE SURFACE HIGH CENTERED
OVER THE CNTRL ROCKIES AND SRN PLAINS. A WEAK UPPER RIDGE WILL THEN
BUILD ACROSS THE WRN CONUS WITH WEAKENING WINDS ALOFT. DRY
CONDITIONS WILL THUS PREVAIL OVER MOST OF THE NATION...WITH
COMBINATION OF WARM AND WINDY CONDITIONS ACROSS SRN CA AZ AND TX.
DRIER AIR WILL ALSO MOVE INTO THE LOWER MS VALLEY EWD ALONG THE GULF
COAST WITH MODERATELY LOW RH AND GUSTY N WINDS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SRN CA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG OFFSHORE WINDS AND EXTREMELY LOW RH

STRONG SANTA ANA WINDS WILL BE ONGOING THIS MORNING AND WILL PERSIST
THROUGH THE PERIOD. GUSTS OF 30-50 MPH WILL BE LIKELY WITH LOCALLY
STRONG SPEEDS. RH WILL BE EXTREMELY LOW...FROM 5-7 PERCENT DURING
PEAK HEATING THIS AFTERNOON AS HIGH TEMPERATURES RISE INTO THE
MID/UPPER 70S TO NEAR 80. RH RECOVERY WILL REMAIN VERY POOR
   OVERNIGHT AS WINDS CONTINUE.

   ...SERN AZ...
SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL BECOME MORE E-W ORIENTED WHICH WILL
FAVOR STRONG ELY WINDS OF 15-25 MPH WITH GUSTS OVER 30 MPH.
TEMPERATURES WILL VARY SIGNIFICANTLY WITH VALUES NEAR 70 OVER SWRN
AZ (WHERE WINDS WILL BE WEAKER) TO THE 50S OVER FAR SERN AZ. GIVEN
VERY LOW DEWPOINTS...MIN RH OF 10-15 PERCENT WILL OCCUR OVER
PORTIONS OF SERN AZ INCLUDING THE TUCSON AREA. GIVEN THE RELATIVELY
COOL AIR...INVERSION/MIXING HEIGHTS WILL BE SHALLOW AND BELOW 5000
FT AGL. NONETHELESS...GIVEN AFOREMENTIONED WIND/RH AND ONGOING
DROUGHT...CONDITIONS WILL BE NEAR CRITICAL LEVELS TODAY.

   ...SRN TX...
SURGING HIGH PRESSURE WILL RESULT IN A COOL...DRY...AND WINDY DAY
WITH NEAR CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS. TEMPERATURES WILL BE RELATIVELY
COOL WITH HIGHS IN THE MID TO UPPER 50S...BUT RH WILL STILL FALL
INTO THE 25-30 PERCENT RANGE BY AFTERNOON. SUSTAINED NLY WINDS OF
15-25 MPH ALONG WITH GUSTS NEAR 30 MPH WILL OCCUR AS WELL. GIVEN
POCKETS OF HIGH KBDI VALUES...FIRE DANGER WILL BE ELEVATED TODAY.

   ...LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY...
IT WILL AGAIN BE VERY DRY AND WINDY TODAY WITH MDT PRESSURE GRADIENT
IN PLACE. WINDS WILL GUST OVER 30 MPH WITH AVG SUSTAINED SPEEDS
AROUND 20 MPH. TEMPERATURES WILL BE COOL AND IN THE 50S OVER SRN NV
   TO NEAR 70 MX BORDER.

   ...LOWER MS VALLEY REGION...
SURGING HIGH TO THE N WILL CAUSE NLY WINDS OF 15-20 MPH WITH HIGHER
GUSTS. TEMPERATURES WILL BE COOL BUT RH WILL MANAGE TO DIP WELL INTO
THE 30 PERCENT RANGE AND LOCALLY INTO THE 20S. COOL TEMPERATURES AND
RELATIVELY LOW KBDI VALUES SHOULD MITIGATE FIRE THREAT.
