   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0216 AM CST TUE DEC 05 2006

   VALID 051200Z - 061200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SRN CA...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SRN GA/NRN FL AND FL
   PANHANDLE/SERN AL...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A GENERAL WNWLY FLOW REGIME ACROSS THE NATION WILL AMPLIFY WITH TIME
AS A LARGE TROUGH DEVELOPS OVER THE NRN PLAINS/GREAT LAKES
REGION...AND A RIDGE INCREASES ACROSS THE WEST. AT THE SURFACE...AN
EXPANSIVE AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL COVER MUCH OF THE WRN
STATES...WITH ANOTHER AREA SETTLING OVER THE DEEP SOUTH. RESIDUAL
PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL KEEP THREAT OF LOCALLY GUSTY WINDS OVER SRN
CA WITH VERY LOW RH. ELSEWHERE...A SURFACE LOW PRESSURE TROUGH WILL
EXTEND FROM MN INTO ERN NM/W TX...INDUCED IN PART BY DEVELOPING
UPPER TROUGH TO THE NORTH. THIS WILL CAUSE AN INCREASE IN SLY WINDS
OVER THE SRN PLAINS WITH LOW RH.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SRN CA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: ENDING SANTA ANA WINDS AND EXTREMELY LOW RH
   VALUES

GUSTY NELY WINDS WILL BE ONGOING MAINLY THROUGH PASSES AND CANYONS
WITH SPEEDS OF 15-30 MPH AND LOCALLY HIGHER GUSTS. THE WINDIEST
AREAS WILL LIKELY BE IN VENTURA AND LOS ANGELES COUNTIES. RH LEVELS
WILL START OUT LOW THIS MORNING AND REACH EXTREME LEVELS BY
   AFTERNOON...WITH VALUES NEAR 5 PERCENT.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SRN GA/NRN FL AND FL PANHANDLE/SERN
   AL...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: VERY LOW RH AND AREAS OF DRY FUELS

HIGH PRESSURE WILL SETTLE INTO THE AREA WITH CENTER OVER AL THIS
AFTERNOON. THIS WILL MAINTAIN A VERY DRY AIR MASS. WARMER
TEMPERATURES THAN PREVIOUS DAY WILL HELP LOWER RH INTO THE 20
PERCENT RANGE...WITH A FEW LOCATIONS BELOW 20 PERCENT. THIS LOW
HUMIDITY ALONG WITH AREAS OF DROUGHT WILL CAUSE CRITICAL FIRE
   CONDITIONS THIS AFTERNOON.

   ...OTHER AREAS OF INTEREST...

   ...LOWER MS VALLEY REGION...
RH WILL BE VERY LOW IN THIS AREA AS WELL...WITH VALUES INTO THE 20
PERCENT RANGE...BUT DROUGHT IS NOT AS SEVERE AS IT IS FARTHER E.
WINDS WILL BE LIGHT UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF HIGH PRESSURE...WITH COLD
   TEMPERATURES OVERNIGHT.

   ...CNTRL TX INTO ERN NM...
A LEE TROUGH WILL DEVELOP ACROSS ERN NM/W TX THIS AFTERNOON WITH
INCREASING WNWLY FLOW ALOFT ACROSS THE CNTRL ROCKIES. SURFACE HIGH
PRESSURE CENTER WILL SHIFT EWD ACROSS THE LOWER MS VALLEY. THIS WILL
CAUSE STRENGTHENING SLY WINDS OVER TX...WITH SPEEDS OF 15-20
MPH...AND WLY FLOW OVER ERN NM. RH WILL RANGE FROM NEAR 30-35
PERCENT CNTRL TX TO NEAR 15 PERCENT ERN NM.

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A STRONG UPPER TROUGH WILL DIVE SEWD OUT OF CANADA INTO THE NRN
PLAINS/UPPER MS VALLEY LATE WED. AT THE SURFACE...AN INITIAL COLD
FRONT WILL STRETCH FROM MO INTO CNTRL TX WED AFTERNOON...WITH A MORE
POTENT ARCTIC BOUNDARY MOVING RAPIDLY INTO MN AND THE DAKOTAS. THIS
SECOND FRONT WILL MOVE RAPIDLY SEWD INTO THE MID MS VALLEY AND SRN
PLAINS BY THU MORNING WITH STRONG NLY WINDS AND COLD TEMPERATURES.
TO THE WEST...A VERY DRY AIR MASS WILL REMAIN WITH HIGH PRESSURE
COVERING MUCH OF THE INTERMOUNTAIN REGION.

   ...SRN CA...
