   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0243 AM CDT SAT MAR 17 2007

   VALID 171200Z - 181200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR MUCH OF FL INTO SERN GA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
LARGE UPPER TROUGH ACROSS THE ERN U.S. WILL SLOWLY MOVE TO THE E
WITH TIME WITH A MUCH COOLER AIR MASS WITH HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING
SWD IN ITS WAKE. THIS WILL CREATE POCKETS OF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
ACROSS THE SERN STATES DUE TO VERY LOW RH AND GUSTY WINDS. TO THE
W...A VERY WARM AND DRY AIR MASS WILL RESIDE ACROSS THE SWRN STATES
UNDER AN UPPER RIDGE. HOT TEMPERATURES AND VERY LOW RH WILL
   PERSIST...BUT WITH WEAK WINDS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - MUCH OF FL INTO SERN GA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: LOW RH...GUSTY NWLY WINDS...DROUGHT

HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD SEWD OUT OF THE MS VALLEY AND ACROSS THE
GULF COAST STATES TODAY...BRINGING IN A COOLER BUT DRIER AIR MASS.
STRONG HEATING WILL ALLOW STEEP LOW LEVEL LAPSE RATES TO DEVELOP
DURING THE AFTERNOON...WHICH WILL CAUSE A RAPID DECREASE IN RH
LEVELS. RH SHOULD AVERAGE 20-30 PERCENT IN GENERAL...WITH THE LOWEST
VALUES FROM SRN GA INTO NRN FL. SUSTAINED NWLY WINDS OF 15-20 MPH
WILL COMBINE WITH THE LOW HUMIDITY TO PRODUCE DANGEROUS FIRE
CONDITIONS. ALTHOUGH LOCALIZED AREAS HAVE RECEIVED SOME RAIN OVER
THE PAST FEW DAYS...MOST AREAS REMAIN DRY WITH KBDI VALUES IN EXCESS
   OF 700 OVER SRN FL.

   ...SRN CA INTO AZ...
FIRE DANGER WILL REMAIN ELEVATED DUE TO VERY WARM
TEMPERATURES...EXTREMELY LOW RH VALUES AND DROUGHT. WITH UPPER RIDGE
IN PLACE...HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL REACH WELL INTO THE 90S IN THE
VALLEYS TO NEAR 100 F. RH LEVELS WILL DIP INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS
DURING THE AFTERNOON. ALTHOUGH WINDS WILL BE LIGHT...A HIGH HAINES
   INDEX WILL EXIST.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0243 AM CDT SAT MAR 17 2007

   VALID 181200Z - 191200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A NEARLY ZONAL UPPER FLOW PATTERN WILL EXIST ACROSS THE WRN AND
CNTRL CONUS SUNDAY AS ERN U.S. TROUGH MOVES OFFSHORE. HIGH PRESSURE
WILL BE CENTERED OVER THE SERN STATES WITH DRY WEATHER CONTINUING.
TO THE W...A TROUGH WILL DEVELOP IN THE LEE OF THE ROCKIES AND WILL
COMBINE WITH THE HIGH TO THE E TO PRODUCE STRONG SLY WINDS ACROSS
THE SRN AND CNTRL PLAINS. OUT W...A WEAK UPPER SHORTWAVE TROUGH WILL
MOVE ACROSS THE GREAT BASIN AND LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY...ENHANCING
WIND POTENTIAL ESPECIALLY IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS.

   ...FL AND GA...
CRITICALLY LOW RH VALUES WILL BE ATTAINED AGAIN ON SUNDAY BUT WINDS
WILL BE LIGHTER WITH HIGH PRESSURE CENTER OVERHEAD. MIN RH IN THE 20
PERCENT RANGE WILL BE COMMON FROM SC ACROSS GA INTO NRN AND WRN FL.
THE STRONGEST WINDS WILL BE OVER CNTRL AND SRN FL WITH SPEEDS OF
10-15 MPH. THE NELY WIND DIRECTION WILL KEEP RH ABOVE CRITICAL
LEVELS ALONG THE ERN COAST OF FL...BUT WILL DRIVE VALUES DOWN ALONG
   THE W COAST.

   ...NRN AZ...
A WEAK UPPER DISTURBANCE WILL INCREASE WINDS AND FIRE DANGER ON
SUNDAY. THE INCREASED WINDS OF 15-20 MPH WILL COMBINE WITH A MDT TO
HIGH HAINES INDEX AND VERY LOW RH VALUES OF 10-15 PERCENT TO PRODUCE
LOCALLY CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS DURING THE AFTERNOON. GIVEN DEEP
MIXING LAYERS...WINDS MAY GUST TO NEAR CRITICAL LEVELS AT
TIMES...BUT SUSTAINED SPEEDS ARE NOT EXPECTED TO REACH CRITICAL
   LEVELS.
