   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0355 AM CDT MON MAR 19 2007

   VALID 191200Z - 201200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER RIDGE AXIS WILL SHIFT EWD TO THE CNTRL ROCKIES TODAY AS STRONG
UPPER TROUGH MOVES SEWD ACROSS SERN CANADA WITH SURFACE LOW OVER WRN
QUEBEC. A COLD FRONT WILL TRAIL SWWD FROM THIS LOW ACROSS THE OH
VALLEY INTO THE SRN PLAINS. MOISTURE WILL BE INCREASING ALONG THIS
FRONT WITH SLY FLOW AROUND A SURFACE HIGH OVER THE WRN ATLANTIC.
THIS HIGH WILL KEEP RH LOW ACROSS THE SERN/MID ATLANTIC STATES. TO
THE W...A WEAK DISTURBANCE ALOFT WILL BE MOVING ACROSS NM INTO W TX
AND WILL HELP CREATE GUSTY WINDS AND NEAR CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS
   THERE.

...SRN NM INTO FAR SW TX...
A NARROW BELT OF STRONGER WLY FLOW ALOFT WILL ACCOMPANY AN UPPER
DISTURBANCE AS IT MOVES OVER NM/W TX THIS AFTERNOON. STRONG HEATING
AND MIXING WILL ALLOW FOR WIND GUSTS OVER 25 MPH...AND SUSTAINED
SPEEDS OF 15-20 MPH. TEMPERATURES MAINLY IN THE 80S WILL ALLOW FOR
MIN RH VALUES INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS AND LOWER TEENS. THE VERY WARM
AND DRY CONDITIONS WILL CREATE A MDT TO HIGH HAINES INDEX AS WELL.
MARGINAL WINDS AND RECENT PRECIPITATION WILL MITIGATE FIRE THREAT
   OVER MUCH OF THIS AREA.

   ...SERN STATES...
HUMIDITY LEVELS WILL REMAIN LOW OVER THE SERN STATES TODAY WITH
SURFACE RIDGE AXIS FROM SRN GA INTO NRN FL. THE DRIEST CONDITIONS
WILL BE WITHIN THIS AXIS...WHERE RH WILL DROP INTO THE 25-30 PERCENT
RANGE FOR SEVERAL HOURS. WINDS WILL BE LIGHT. FARTHER N INTO THE
CAROLINAS AND VA...WINDS WILL BE STRONGER WITH SPEEDS OF 15-20 MPH.
THIS WILL CREATE A MARGINAL FIRE HAZARD BUT LOW KBDI VALUES AND
EFFECTS OF RECENT PRECIPITATION SHOULD MITIGATE THE THREAT.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0355 AM CDT MON MAR 19 2007

   VALID 201200Z - 211200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER TROUGH WILL MOVE TO THE PACIFIC COAST WITH INCREASING WINDS
ACROSS THE SWRN STATES WHERE IT WILL CONTINUE TO BE DRY. UPPER RIDGE
AXIS WILL SHIFT EWD TO THE CNTRL PLAINS WITH STRONG SLY WINDS
DEVELOPING AND TRANSPORTING MOISTURE NWD FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO.
HUMIDITY WILL BEGIN TO INCREASE SLOWLY OVER THE SERN STATES AS HIGH
   PRESSURE RIDGE WEAKENS.

   ...NRN AZ...SRN UT...SRN NV...
IT WILL BECOME WINDY AS UPPER TROUGH APPROACHES FROM THE W.
SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS OF 20-25 MPH WILL BE LIKELY WITH GUSTS OVER 30
MPH. HUMIDITY LEVELS WILL LIKELY NOT BE AS LOW AS PREVIOUS TWO
DAYS...BUT MIN HUMIDITY OF 15-20 PERCENT APPEARS LIKELY. GIVEN
STRONG WINDS AND LONG TERM DROUGHT CONDITIONS...LOWER THAN EXPECTED
HUMIDITY WOULD YIELD UPGRADE TO CRITICAL IN FUTURE OUTLOOKS.
