   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0309 AM CDT FRI APR 06 2007

   VALID 061200Z - 071200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR MUCH OF FL AND GA...SWRN SC...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
LARGE UPPER LOW/TROUGH WILL MAINTAIN NWLY FLOW ACROSS THE CNTRL/SERN
U.S. WITH COOL AND DRY HIGH PRESSURE AT THE SURFACE AND GUSTY NWLY
WINDS. TO THE W...VERY WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL UNDER
UPPER RIDGE FROM THE GREAT BASIN INTO THE DESERT SW...BUT A WEAK
SHORTWAVE TROUGH WILL ALSO MOVE SLOWLY EWD BENEATH THE RIDGE INTO
SRN CA/AZ. THIS WILL CAUSE AN INCREASE IN WIND...CLOUD COVER...AND
   ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS...SOME DRY.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - MUCH OF FL AND GA...SWRN SC...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: CONTINUED VERY LOW RH...GUSTY NWLY
   WINDS...DROUGHT

A VERY DRY AIR MASS WILL REMAIN IN PLACE DUE TO NWLY WINDS AND HIGH
PRESSURE. LONG DURATIONS OF RH IN THE 20 PERCENT RANGE WILL OCCUR
ALONG WITH SUSTAINED NWLY WINDS AROUND 15 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS. RH
WILL BE DOWN FROM PREVIOUS DAY OVER THE CNTRL/SRN FL PENINSULA WHERE
   SEVERE DROUGHT PERSISTS.

...LOWER MS VALLEY TO THE CAROLINAS...
IT WILL BE COOL BUT DRY REGION WIDE WITH GUSTY NWLY WINDS FROM 15-20
MPH. THE COOL TEMPERATURES IN THE 50S WILL LIMIT VERTICAL MIXING AND
FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL. THE GREATEST FIRE THREAT WILL BE DURING PEAK
HEATING HOURS IN AREAS THAT HAVE RECEIVED LITTLE RAIN RECENTLY.

   ...AZ...
SWLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TO AROUND 15 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS DUE TO
MIXING WHILE RH VALUES REMAIN VERY LOW FROM THE SINGLE DIGITS TO
LOWER TEENS. THIS WILL PRODUCE NEAR CRITICAL CONDITIONS FOR A FEW
HOURS THIS AFTERNOON MAINLY ACROSS SERN AZ. TO THE N...ISOLATED
LIGHTNING STRIKES WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER NRN AZ IN ASSOCIATION WITH
WEAK UPPER SHORTWAVE TROUGH. GIVEN VERY DRY SUB CLOUD LAYER...ANY
   STORMS WILL LIKELY BE DRY.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0318 AM CDT FRI APR 06 2007

   VALID 071200Z - 081200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR MUCH OF THE SOUTHEAST...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
HIGH PRESSURE WILL INTENSIFY INTO THE DEEP SOUTH AS UPPER LOW SPINS
OVER NEW ENGLAND. THIS WILL MAINTAIN COOL...BUT EXTREMELY DRY
CONDITIONS WITH DANGEROUS FIRE CONDITIONS POSSIBLE OVER PORTIONS OF
THE SOUTHEAST. DRY BUT COOL CONDITIONS WILL ALSO EXIST FARTHER W
INTO THE LOWER MS VALLEY. ANOTHER SHORTWAVE TROUGH ALOFT WILL RESULT
IN INCREASED WINDS ACROSS THE CO RIVER VALLEY REGIONS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - MUCH OF THE SOUTHEAST...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: EXTREMELY LOW HUMIDITY...LOCALLY STRONG WIND
   GUSTS...SEVERE DROUGHT

A STRONG AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL AFFECT THE REGION WITH CONTINUED
DRYING AND SIGNIFICANT FIRE THREAT. WHILE IT WILL BE DECEPTIVELY
COOL OVER PORTIONS OF AL/GA/NRN FL/CAROLINAS...RH VALUES WILL
AVERAGE 10-20 PERCENT BY AFTERNOON. WARMER TEMPERATURES IN THE 60S
TO 70S WILL EXIST OVER THE CNTRL/SRN FL PENINSULA WITH SOMEWHAT
HIGHER HUMIDITY VALUES RANGING FROM THE 20S TO THE MID 30S FAR
SOUTH. SUSTAINED WLY TO NWLY WINDS OF 15-20 MPH WILL BE COMMON WITH
GUSTS OF 20-30 MPH AT TIMES. THE STRONG MIXING AND RELATIVELY HIGH
MIXING HEIGHTS FROM 5000-7000 FT AGL WILL RESULT IN AN ENVIRONMENT
FAVORABLE FOR SIGNIFICANT WILD FIRES SATURDAY AFTERNOON.

   ...FAR ERN OK...AR...LOWER MS VALLEY...
IT WILL BE COOL BUT VERY DRY SATURDAY RESULTING IN NEAR CRITICAL
FIRE CONDITIONS BY AFTERNOON. TEMPERATURES WILL STRUGGLE TO REACH 50
NRN AREAS WITH LOWER 50S ELSEWHERE. DESPITE COOL TEMPERATURES...RH
LEVELS WILL EASILY DROP INTO THE TEENS. THE LOW RH...COMBINED WITH
NWLY WINDS OF 10-15 MPH...WILL ENHANCE FIRE THREAT ESPECIALLY IN
AREAS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED RECENT DROUGHT.

   ...WRN AZ...SERN CA...SRN NV...
WINDS WILL INCREASE AHEAD OF ANOTHER UPPER TROUGH THAT WILL MOVE
INTO THE WRN GREAT BASIN. SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS OF 15-20 MPH APPEAR
LIKELY BY LATE AFTERNOON WHILE RH DROPS TO NEAR 15 PERCENT. SOME MID
TO HIGH LEVEL CLOUDS ARE EXPECTED WHICH MAY HELP KEEP RH LEVELS
   MARGINAL.
