   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0411 AM CDT TUE APR 17 2007

   VALID 171200Z - 181200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SWRN TX...EXTREME SERN NM...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SC...SRN NC...SERN GA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER-LEVEL LOW ACROSS THE SRN ROCKIES WILL MOVE EWD TO THE LOWER MS
RIVER VALLEY BY WED MORNING AS AN UPSTREAM TROUGH DIGS THROUGH THE
PACIFIC NW/GREAT BASIN. A SURFACE LOW WILL TRACK EWD FROM W-CNTRL TX
INTO N-CNTRL TX THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING...WITH AN ASSOCIATED DRY LINE
PUSHING ACROSS MUCH OF S TX. FARTHER E...IMMENSE OCCLUDED CYCLONE
CENTERED OFF THE DELMARVA COAST WILL SLOWLY WEAKEN AS IT CONTINUES
TO MEANDER EWD. STRONG SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENT OVER THE LOWER
MID-ATLANTIC WILL DIMINISH DURING THE AFTERNOON.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SWRN TX...EXTREME SERN NM...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS / LOW RH / SHORT-TERM DRYNESS

THE PASSAGE OF AN UPPER-LEVEL LOW LATER THIS MORNING WILL ALLOW
STRONG W/NWLY DOWNSLOPE FLOW TO DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON. THE CORE OF
STRONGEST MID-LEVEL WINDS WILL LIKELY TRACK ACROSS THE RIO GRANDE
VALLEY...WITH 70+ MPH WINDS AT 500 MB. THE PRESENCE OF VERY STEEP
LOW/MID-LEVEL LAPSE RATES WILL AID IN A DEEPLY MIXED BOUNDARY LAYER
AND DOWNWARD MOMENTUM TRANSPORT. SUSTAINED SURFACE WINDS OF 25 TO 35
MPH WILL BE LIKELY. TEMPERATURES WILL WARM INTO THE 70S TO MIDDLE
80S. 08Z SURFACE ANALYSIS DEPICTS A POCKET OF SURFACE DEW POINTS IN
THE TEENS ACROSS S-CNTRL NM/FAR W TX. AS THE DRY LINE MIXES EWD
THROUGH S-CNTRL TX...RH VALUES OF 8 TO 15 PERCENT WILL BECOME
   WIDESPREAD.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SC...SRN NC...SERN GA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: LOW RH / MODERATE WINDS / HIGH INSOLATION

ALTHOUGH NWLY FLOW WILL BE WEAKER TODAY COMPARED TO MONDAY...WARMER
AND CONTINUED DRY CONDITIONS WILL LIKELY LEAD TO A CRITICAL THREAT
EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. WIND GUSTS OF 30 TO 40 MPH HAVE BEEN ONGOING
THIS MORNING ACROSS WRN NC/SWRN VA. AS THE NIGHTTIME INVERSION
BREAKS OVER THE PIEDMONT AND COASTAL PLAIN AREAS...GUSTY NWLY WINDS
ARE EXPECTED TO ONCE AGAIN DEVELOP DOWNSTREAM. SUSTAINED SURFACE
WINDS SHOULD REACH 20 MPH DURING THE LATE MORNING/EARLY AFTERNOON.
DESPITE MUCH OF THIS AREA RECEIVING SIGNIFICANT THIS PAST
WEEKEND...RAPID DRYING OF FINE FUELS WILL CONTINUE FROM MONDAY. AS
TEMPERATURES WARM INTO THE UPPER 60S AND 70S...RH VALUES OF 12 TO 20
   PERCENT WILL BE COMMON.

   ...SERN STATES...
FARTHER W AND S OF THE CRITICAL AREA...WARM AND RATHER DRY
CONDITIONS WILL ALSO EXIST. HOWEVER...WIND SPEEDS WILL TEND TO
REMAIN MODEST WITH ONLY LOCALIZED CRITICAL CONDITIONS EXPECTED. WIND
SPEEDS SHOULD GENERALLY RANGE FROM 10 TO 15 MPH...WITH SLIGHTLY
HIGHER SPEEDS ACROSS NRN/ERN GA. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM
THE 70S IN NRN GA TO THE MIDDLE 80S IN INTERIOR FL. THIS WILL LEAD
TO WIDESPREAD RH VALUES OF 15 TO 25 PERCENT.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0456 AM CDT TUE APR 17 2007

   VALID 181200Z - 191200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR FOUR CORNERS REGION...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A POTENT UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH WILL LIFT E/NEWD FROM THE GREAT BASIN
ACROSS THE NRN/CNTRL ROCKIES. ALONG THE SRN PERIPHERY OF THIS
TROUGH...A BAND OF STRONG MID-LEVEL WINDS WILL PUSH ACROSS THE SRN
GREAT BASIN TOWARDS THE FOUR CORNERS. AT THE SURFACE...LOW PRESSURE
WILL INTENSIFY ACROSS THE NRN HIGH PLAINS. A COLD FRONT WILL MARCH
E/SEWD REACHING THE FOUR CORNERS/SWRN DESERTS NEAR 19/00Z.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - FOUR CORNERS REGION...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: VERY GUSTY WINDS / LOW RH / LONG-TERM DROUGHT

INTENSE LOW/MID-LEVEL WINDS ARE EXPECTED INVOF FOUR CORNERS WED
AFTERNOON AHEAD OF A SHARP COLD FRONT. STEEP LOW/MID-LEVEL LAPSE
RATES WILL DEVELOP AHEAD OF THE FRONT...LEADING TO DEEP MIXING.
SUSTAINED SURFACE WINDS SHOULD REACH 30 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS IN
EXCESS OF 50 MPH POSSIBLE. TEMPERATURES SHOULD WARM TO NEAR-NORMAL
VALUES IN THE 60S TO LOWER 70S. SOME UNCERTAINTY EXISTS WITH THE
DEGREE OF DRYING/DURATION OF LOW RH THAT WILL OCCUR. IT APPEARS MIN
RH VALUES WILL REACH 10 TO 15 PERCENT FOR A FEW HOURS DURING THE
LATE-AFTERNOON...PRIOR TO SIGNIFICANT COOLING OCCURRING BEHIND THE
   FRONT.
