   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0213 AM CDT SAT APR 21 2007

   VALID 211200Z - 221200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR MUCH OF SRN AND ERN NM...FAR SW
   TX...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SRN GA INTO NRN FL...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A POWERFUL UPPER TROUGH WILL MOVE OUT OF THE SRN ROCKIES AND INTO
THE CNTRL/SRN HIGH PLAINS THIS AFTERNOON. LOW PRESSURE WILL DEEPEN
OVER ERN CO WITH STRONG SLY FLOW THROUGH THE PLAINS. THE STRONG
WINDS AND LOW RH WILL RESULT IN CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS FOR MUCH OF
NM INTO FAR W TX. TO THE E...DRY AND MILD CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL
OVER MOST OF THE AREA E OF THE MS RIVER DUE TO HIGH PRESSURE. LOW RH
AND GUSTY WINDS WILL RESULT IN CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS FOR SRN GA
INTO NRN FL WHERE IT HAS BEEN VERY DRY.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - MUCH OF SRN AND ERN NM...FAR SW
   TX...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: VERY STRONG WINDS...LOW RH

IT WILL BECOME WINDY BY MID MORNING AS UPPER TROUGH MOVES ACROSS THE
REGION. SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS OF 25-35 MPH ARE LIKELY WITH A GRADUAL
VEERING TO MORE OF A WLY DIRECTION IN THE AFTERNOON. STRONG GUSTS OF
40-50 MPH APPEAR LIKELY WITH POTENT UPPER JET OVERHEAD. SOME MID TO
HIGH LEVELS CLOUDS EARLY IN THE DAY WILL GIVE WAY TO CLEAR SKIES BY
LATE AFTERNOON WHEN LOWEST RH WILL OCCUR. RH WILL DROP INTO THE
10-15 PERCENT RANGE WITH HIGHER/MORE MARGINAL VALUES OVER CNTRL AND
   FAR NERN NM.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SRN GA INTO NRN FL...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: LONG DURATIONS OF LOW RH...GUSTY ELY
   WINDS...DROUGHT

FIRE POTENTIAL WILL INCREASE TODAY WITH WARMING TEMPERATURES AND
CONTINUED DRY CONDITIONS. HIGH PRESSURE AND STRONG HEATING WILL
RESULT IN RH DECREASING TO 25-30 PERCENT BY AFTERNOON. ELY FLOW
AROUND THIS HIGH WILL RESULT IN ELY WINDS OF 10-15 MPH WITH HIGHER
GUSTS. IN ADDITION TO GUSTY WINDS AND LOW RH...DEEP MIXING LAYERS
AROUND 7000 FT AGL WILL EXIST WITH ADDED FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0213 AM CDT SAT APR 21 2007

   VALID 221200Z - 231200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
LEAD UPPER SHORTWAVE TROUGH WILL EJECT OUT OF THE PLAINS AND INTO
THE MID/UPPER MS VALLEY BY AFTERNOON...WHILE LONGER WAVELENGTH
TROUGH TAKES SHAPE OVER THE GREAT BASIN. MUCH OF THE ERN CONUS WILL
REMAIN UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF HIGH PRESSURE AND THUS DRY CONDITIONS
WILL PERSIST. SOME OF THIS DRY AIR WILL COMBINE WITH INCREASED WINDS
FOR A MARGINAL FIRE THREAT INTO LOWER MI. FIRE THREAT WILL REMAIN
HIGH ACROSS AZ/NM/W TX WHERE WINDS WILL BE ON THE INCREASE.

   ...SRN GA INTO NRN FL...
HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN OVER THE SERN STATES ON SUNDAY WITH
CONTINUED WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS. TEMPERATURES WILL RISE INTO THE
LOWER 80S WITH RH NEAR 30 PERCENT. SOME ELY WIND WILL REMAIN...BUT
GENERALLY AT OR BELOW 10 MPH. A FURTHER DECREASE IN RH VALUES MAY
   RESULT IN CRITICAL CONDITIONS.

   ...AZ...NM...W TX...
NEAR CRITICAL CONDITIONS WILL OCCUR AS ANOTHER UPPER TROUGH MOVES
INTO THE AREA. NOSE OF 60-70KT MID LEVEL JET WILL ENTER NRN AZ BY
SUN AFTERNOON. SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS OF 15-25 MPH APPEARS LIKELY OVER
NRN AZ WITH HIGHER GUSTS IN THE HIGH TERRAIN. RH LEVELS HERE WILL BE
MARGINAL AND MAINLY IN THE 20S. ELSEWHERE...SPEEDS OF 15-20 MPH WILL
OCCUR FROM SRN AZ EWD ACROSS NM INTO WRN TX WHERE RH WILL REMAIN
VERY LOW FROM UPPER SINGLE DIGITS TO LOWER TEENS.

   ...LOWER MI...
LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE NEWD INTO THE UPPER MS VALLEY AND WILL RESULT
IN A MODERATELY STRONG PRESSURE GRADIENT WITH THE HIGH OVER THE SE.
THUS...FIRE DANGER WILL INCREASE DUE TO LOW HUMIDITY MAINLY IN THE
30 PERCENT RANGE AND INCREASING SLY WINDS TO 15-25 MPH. SOME SHORT
TERM DRYNESS EXISTS BUT VERY LOW KBDI VALUES SUGGEST FUEL CONDITIONS
   NOT PARTICULARLY CRITICAL.
