   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0354 AM CDT TUE MAY 01 2007

   VALID 011200Z - 021200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A SRN STREAM UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH WILL MOVE ONSHORE ACROSS THE SWRN
CONUS TODAY...AS A CLOSED LOW OVER THE SRN PLAINS REMAINS NEARLY
STATIONARY. IN THE NRN STREAM...A MID-LEVEL SHORT WAVE TROUGH WILL
AMPLIFY AS IT QUICKLY MOVES E/SEWD FROM NWRN ONTARIO AND ACROSS THE
ERN GREAT LAKES BY EARLY WED. IN THE WAKE OF THIS SYSTEM...A RIDGE
WILL BUILD ACROSS THE NRN ROCKIES/PLAINS. AT THE SURFACE...A HIGH
PRESSURE RIDGE ACROSS THE SERN CONUS WILL LEAD TO A CONTINUATION OF
   VERY WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS.

   ...CAROLINAS THROUGH THE SERN STATES...
TEMPERATURES WILL REBOUND INTO THE UPPER 80S TO LOWER 90S BENEATH
RIDGING AT THE SURFACE AND ALOFT. CRITICALLY LOW RH WILL BE
WIDESPREAD...GENERALLY FROM 20 TO 30 PERCENT AWAY FROM THE IMMEDIATE
COASTLINE. HOWEVER...WIND SPEEDS WILL BE LIGHT /AOB 10 MPH/ WITH
GENERALLY MEAGER FLOW THROUGHOUT THE LOWER ATMOSPHERIC COLUMN.
SLIGHTLY HIGHER WINDS NEAR 15 MPH CAN BE EXPECTED ACROSS NC WHERE
THE TAIL END OF A LOW-LEVEL JET WILL DEVELOP DURING THE AFTERNOON IN
ADVANCE OF THE GREAT LAKES SHORT WAVE.

   ...WRN NV...
A SURFACE TROUGH/DEVELOPING COLD FRONT IS FORECAST TO PUSH EWD LATE
THIS AFTERNOON ALLOWING WLY DOWNSLOPE FLOW TO INCREASE ON THE ERN
SLOPES OF THE SIERRA NEVADA MTNS. WIND SPEEDS SHOULD REACH 20 TO 25
MPH FOR A FEW HOURS DURING THE EARLY EVENING. THIS WILL LIKELY
COINCIDE WITH RH VALUES OF 10 TO 15 PERCENT LEADING TO A BRIEF
   DURATION OF CRITICAL CONDITIONS.

   ...NRN HIGH PLAINS...
A TIGHTENING SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL LEAD TO STRENGTHENING
WINDS ACROSS THE REGION THIS AFTERNOON. SELY WINDS OF 20 TO 25 MPH
WILL BE COMMON WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 60S TO MIDDLE 70S. RH
VALUES ARE EXPECTED TO BE ONLY MARGINALLY LOW AROUND 25 PERCENT.

   ...SWRN STATES...
A FEW DRY TSTMS MAY DEVELOP AHEAD OF AN EWD-MOVING UPPER-LEVEL LOW
TRACKING ACROSS FAR SRN CA THIS AFTERNOON. MID-LEVEL MOISTURE AND
INSTABILITY SHOULD REMAIN QUITE LIMITED...WITH ISOLATED TSTM
COVERAGE AT BEST ACROSS LOWER ELEVATIONS.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0454 AM CDT TUE MAY 01 2007

   VALID 021200Z - 031200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SRN NV/SERN CA/NWRN AZ/FAR SWRN
   UT...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A LARGE NERN PACIFIC UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH WILL MOVE INLAND ALONG THE
WEST COAST INTO THE INTERMOUNTAIN WEST BY EARLY THU. DOWNSTREAM OF
THIS SYSTEM...AMPLIFIED UPPER RIDGE WILL MOVE SLOWLY EWD ACROSS THE
UPPER MIDWEST/S-CNTRL CANADA. IN THE SRN STREAM...TWO MID-LEVEL
IMPULSES WILL WEAKEN OVER THE CNTRL/SRN PLAINS. SURFACE HIGH
PRESSURE RIDGING WILL REMAIN ANCHORED FROM EAST TO WEST ACROSS THE
   SERN STATES.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SRN NV/SERN CA/NWRN AZ/FAR SWRN
   UT...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS / LOW RH / MODERATE TO SEVERE
   DROUGHT

LOW/MID-LEVEL FLOW SHOULD SUBSTANTIALLY INCREASE WED AFTERNOON AS A
MID-LEVEL TROUGH AXIS APPROACHES. WIDESPREAD SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS OF
20 TO 30 MPH ARE LIKELY. ABOVE-NORMAL TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED WITH
HIGHS FROM THE UPPER 70S TO MIDDLE 90S. RH VALUES SHOULD DROP TO 10
TO 15 PERCENT. A COLD FRONT SHOULD PASS THROUGH THE REGION WED
EVENING THROUGH THU MORNING WITH SIGNIFICANT RH RECOVERY BEHIND THE
   BOUNDARY.

   ...WRN ND/NWRN SD/EXTREME ERN MT...
HIGHER SELY WINDS ARE EXPECTED COMPARED TO DAY 1 DUE TO A STRONG
SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENT BETWEEN HIGH PRESSURE OVER WRN ONTARIO AND
LOW PRESSURE DEVELOPING ALONG THE LEE OF THE NRN ROCKIES. AFTERNOON
SUSTAINED WINDS OF 25 TO 35 MPH SHOULD BE COMMON. DESPITE WARM
TEMPERATURES IN THE MIDDLE 70S TO LOWER 80S...RH VALUES SHOULD
REMAIN MARGINAL ENOUGH /AROUND 25 PERCENT/ TO PRECLUDE A CRITICAL
   AREA ISSUANCE.

   ...SRN SC/SRN GA/NRN FL...
LITTLE OVERALL CHANGE IS FORECAST FROM DAY 1 AS A SURFACE HIGH
PRESSURE RIDGE MAINTAINS VERY WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS. TEMPERATURES
WILL REACH THE UPPER 80S TO LOWER 90S WITH RH VALUES OF 25 TO 35
PERCENT. WIND SPEEDS WILL REMAIN LIGHT /AOB 10 MPH/.
