   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0459 AM CDT FRI MAY 04 2007

   VALID 041200Z - 051200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SERN CA/SRN AND CNTRL AZ...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NH/VT/MA/ERN NY/SRN ME...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
INTENSE MID LEVEL JET WILL DIG AROUND THE BASE OF WRN UPPER TROUGH
TODAY...WITH A CLOSED UPPER LOW FORMING BY EARLY SATURDAY MORNING
ACROSS SRN UT. WINDS AT 500MB HAVE ALREADY INCREASED EARLY THIS
MORNING TO AROUND 60 KT ACROSS PORTIONS OF SRN CA/SRN AZ. WINDS WILL
CONTINUE TO STRENGTHEN AS 80-90 KT MID LEVEL MAX APPROACHES BY
AFTN/EVENING. CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS WILL DEVELOP ACROSS
PORTIONS OF SRN/CNTRL AZ AND SE CA BY LATE MORNING/EARLY AFTN DUE TO
THE WINDY AND DRY CONDITIONS. SFC LOW PRESSURE WILL DEEPEN ACROSS
THE HIGH PLAINS WITH WINDY CONDITIONS ACROSS MUCH OF THE SOUTHWEST
AND SRN PLAINS. DRY HIGH PRESSURE WILL SETTLE ACROSS THE
NORTHEAST/MID-ATLANTIC REGIONS TODAY WITH LOW HUMIDITY AND GUSTY
   WINDS CONTRIBUTING TO CRITICAL CONDITIONS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SERN CA/SRN AND CNTRL AZ...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED WINDS 20-25 MPH/MINIMUM RH VALUES
BELOW 15 PERCENT/HIGH TO VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER VALUES

SUSTAINED WINDS WILL LIKELY INCREASE TO 20-25 MPH BY LATE MORNING
ACROSS THE AREA...AS TEMPS CLIMB INTO THE 80S/90S IN THE LOWER
ELEVATIONS WITH COOLER TEMPS ALONG THE RIM/HIGHER TERRAIN. HIGHER
GUSTS TO 40 MPH ARE POSSIBLE AS WELL. MINIMUM RH VALUES ARE EXPECTED
TO RANGE FROM 8-15 PERCENT...ESPECIALLY ACROSS SRN AZ. RECENT FIRE
DANGER CLASS OBSERVATIONS SHOW HIGH TO VERY HIGH VALUES...INCREASING
THE POTENTIAL FOR CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS TODAY.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - NH/VT/MA/ERN NY/SRN ME...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED WINDS 15-25 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS/MIN
RH VALUES BELOW 20 PERCENT/DRY FUELS

BREEZY CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED THIS AFTN...WITH SUSTAINED WINDS
RANGING FROM 15-25 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS TO 35-40 MPH POSSIBLE. LOW
DEWPOINTS IN THE TEENS AND 20S WILL CONTRIBUTE TO MINIMUM RH VALUES
FALLING BELOW 15-20 PERCENT...PARTICULARLY ACROSS PORTIONS OF
NH/VT/MA AND THE HUDSON VALLEY. VERY DRY FUELS ARE INDICATED BY
RECENT HIGH OR VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER RATING OBSERVATIONS. THE RECENT
DRY PERIOD COMBINED WITH CRITICALLY LOW HUMIDITY AND GUSTY WINDS
WILL ENHANCE POTENTIAL FOR WILDFIRE SPREAD TODAY SHOULD IGNITIONS
   OCCUR.

   ...SRN HIGH PLAINS...
SFC DRYLINE WILL MIX EWD ACROSS THE WRN TX PANHANDLE AND FAR W TX BY
AFTN. BEHIND THE DRYLINE...MINIMUM RH VALUES WILL FALL BELOW 15
PERCENT WITH STRONG WINDS GUSTING TO 20-30 MPH OR HIGHER. MAX TEMPS
WILL BE IN THE 80S OR LOW 90S. DESPITE FAVORABLE WEATHER PARAMETERS
FOR CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS...RECENT RAINFALL WILL LIKELY OFFSET
   RISK ACROSS ERN NM/W TX.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0500 AM CDT FRI MAY 04 2007

   VALID 051200Z - 061200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SRN CA/SRN NV/LOWER CO RIVER
   VALLEY...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
CLOSED UPPER LOW WILL MOVE ACROSS THE FOUR CORNERS REGION ON
SATURDAY...ALONG WITH 70-90 KT MID LEVEL JET. NOSE OF JET WILL
EXTEND FROM THE CNTRL PLAINS ACROSS AZ/NM/NRN CA BY SATURDAY AFTN.
AT THE SFC...LOW PRESSURE WILL DEEPEN IN THE LEE OF THE ROCKIES WITH
COLD FRONT EXTENDING FROM LOW IN WRN KS THROUGH SRN AZ. INTENSE
PRESSURE GRADIENT IN THE WAKE OF DEPARTING UPPER LOW WILL INDUCE
STRONG N/NWLY WINDS ACROSS MUCH OF THE GREAT BASIN/SRN CA BY
AFTN...WITH STRONG WINDS CONTINUING FROM THE PLAINS THROUGH THE
   UPPER MIDWEST.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SRN CA/SRN NV/LOWER CO RIVER
   VALLEY...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: GUSTY NLY WINDS 20-25 MPH/MINIMUM RH VALUES
   BELOW 15 PERCENT/VERY DRY FUELS

ALTHOUGH TEMPS MAY BE COOLER THAN FRIDAY OVER PORTIONS OF THE
CRITICAL AREA...HUMIDITY WILL BE QUITE LOW. MAX TEMPS WILL GENERALLY
CLIMB INTO THE 70S/80S WITH RH VALUES FALLING BELOW 10 PERCENT FOR
SOME LOCATIONS. IN ADDITION...STRONG N/NWLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TO
20-30 MPH DUE TO INTENSE GRADIENT...WITH SOME HIGHER GUSTS EXPECTED.
GIVEN THE VERY DRY FUELS PRESENT ACROSS PORTIONS OF SRN CA...A
   CRITICAL FIRE THREAT APPEARS WARRANTED.

   ...UPPER MI...
STRONG ELY WINDS WILL DEVELOP ACROSS UPPER MI DUE TO INCREASING
PRESSURE GRADIENT FROM PLAINS SYSTEM. MAX TEMPS WILL CLIMB INTO THE
60S/70S WITH RH VALUES FALLING BELOW 20 PERCENT. RECENT FIRE DANGER
OBSERVATIONS ARE HIGH OR VERY HIGH ACROSS THE AREA. THIS AREA WILL
CONTINUE TO BE MONITORED FOR A CRITICAL FIRE OUTLOOK ON SATURDAY.
