   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0400 AM CDT MON MAY 07 2007

   VALID 071200Z - 081200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR PORTIONS OF THE SOUTHEAST/LOWER
   MID-ATLANTIC...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SRN CA COASTAL AREA...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NRN ME...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
LARGE UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH CENTERED ACROSS THE ROCKIES WILL TRANSITION
TO AN EJECTING SHORT WAVE OVER THE NRN PLAINS WITH A CUTOFF LOW
EVOLVING ACROSS THE DESERT SW. ANOMALOUS UPPER-LEVEL LOW OVER THE
WRN ATLANTIC BASIN WILL DIG SLIGHTLY SWD BEFORE RETROGRADING WWD
LATER TODAY OFF THE GA/SC COAST. AT THE SURFACE...HIGH PRESSURE
CENTERED OVER THE NRN APPALACHIANS WILL DRIFT SLOWLY EWD ACROSS SRN
NEW ENGLAND. IN THE WEST..HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE GREAT BASIN WILL
WEAKEN AS IT APPROACHES THE NRN/CNTRL ROCKIES.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - PORTIONS OF THE SOUTHEAST/LOWER
   MID-ATLANTIC...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS / LOW RH / HIGH KBDI

A RELATIVELY ELONGATED NARROW AXIS OF CRITICAL CONDITIONS WILL
DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON AS STRONG WINDS IN ASSOCIATION WITH WRN
ATLANTIC CYCLONE ARE JUXTAPOSED WITH A DRY CONTINENTAL POLAR AIR
MASS FARTHER INLAND. WITH THE PRESENCE OF A 30 TO 45 MPH LOW-LEVEL
JET THIS AFTERNOON...WIDESPREAD SUSTAINED SURFACE WINDS OF 15 TO 25
MPH ARE LIKELY. SURFACE DEW POINTS IN THE 30S HAVE REACHED AS FAR S
AS THE GA/FL BORDER THIS MORNING. FURTHER DRYING IS EXPECTED ACROSS
NRN/CNTRL FL AS WINDS TURN MORE NLY LATER THIS MORNING. WITH
TEMPERATURES WARMING INTO THE 70S THIS AFTERNOON...RH VALUES OF 20
   TO 30 PERCENT WILL OCCUR.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SRN CA COASTAL AREA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: LONG DURATION OF LOW RH / GUSTY OFFSHORE WINDS /
   SEVERE TO EXTREME DROUGHT

LOCALLY GUSTY OFFSHORE WINDS FROM 25 TO 35 MPH HAVE BEEN OCCURRING
AT TIMES EARLY THIS MORNING OVER PORTIONS OF THE COASTAL MTNS. THIS
HAS SUPPORTED POOR RH RECOVERY WITH MANY LOCATIONS FROM 15 TO 25
PERCENT. AS DAYTIME HEATING ENSUES AND TEMPERATURES WARM INTO THE
80S TO MIDDLE 90S...RH VALUES OF 5 TO 10 PERCENT WILL BECOME QUITE
COMMON. WINDS SHOULD DIMINISH THIS AFTERNOON AND REMAIN RELATIVELY
MODEST TONIGHT THROUGH EARLY TUE AS HIGH PRESSURE WEAKENS AND MOVES
FARTHER E OF THE GREAT BASIN.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - NRN ME...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: LOW RH / MODERATE WINDS / RECENT DRYNESS

AS SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE MOVES FARTHER SE OF THE AREA...W/SWLY
RETURN FLOW WILL INCREASE SUBSTANTIALLY THIS AFTERNOON. SUSTAINED
SURFACE WINDS SHOULD REACH 20 MPH BY MID TO LATE AFTERNOON. WITH A
DRY AIR MASS ALREADY IN PLACE /SURFACE DEW POINTS IN THE
20S/...CRITICALLY LOW RH NEAR 20 PERCENT WILL DEVELOP AS
TEMPERATURES WARM INTO THE MIDDLE TO UPPER 60S.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0500 AM CDT MON MAY 07 2007

   VALID 081200Z - 091200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR PORTIONS OF NRN AND WRN FL/SWRN
   GA/FAR SERN AL...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NH/SRN ME/PORTIONS OF MA/EXTREME
   ERN VT...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
CLOSED LOW OVER THE WRN ATLANTIC BASIN WILL SLIDE VERY SLOWLY WWD TO
NEAR THE GA/SC COASTAL PLAINS BY EARLY WED. BELT OF ENHANCED
LOW-LEVEL FLOW WILL SPREAD FARTHER INLAND ACROSS THE SERN STATES. IN
THE NRN STREAM...A MID-LEVEL SHORT WAVE TROUGH WILL TRACK QUICKLY
ACROSS S-CNTRL THROUGH SERN CANADA. IN ADVANCE OF THIS
TROUGH...LOW-LEVEL W/SWLY FLOW WILL INCREASE ACROSS NEW ENGLAND.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - PORTIONS OF NRN AND WRN FL/SWRN
   GA/FAR SERN AL...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS / LOW RH / HIGH KBDI

LOW-LEVEL FLOW WILL REMAIN ANOMALOUSLY STRONG ACROSS MUCH OF THE
SOUTHEAST AS OFFSHORE CYCLONE APPROACHES THE COAST. LATEST MODEL
GUIDANCE ARE CONSISTENT WITH SPREADING A SURGE OF LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE
ACROSS COASTAL SECTIONS OF SC/GA/ERN FL. FARTHER WEST OF THIS
SURGE...AN AXIS OF STRONG WINDS AND LOW RH SHOULD CO-EXIST WITH
GREATER INSOLATION. TEMPERATURES SHOULD REACH THE UPPER 70S TO LOWER
80S WITH RH VALUES DROPPING TO 25 TO 35 PERCENT. SUSTAINED NLY
SURFACE WINDS FROM 15 TO 25 MPH APPEAR LIKELY.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - NH/SRN ME/PORTIONS OF MA/EXTREME ERN
   VT...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: MODERATE WINDS / LOW RH / RECENT DRYNESS

W/SWLY LOW-LEVEL FLOW IS EXPECTED TO INCREASE FROM N TO S AS THE
SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENT TIGHTENS IN BETWEEN HIGH PRESSURE OFF THE
DELMARVA COAST AND A LOW PRESSURE TROUGH ACROSS QUEBEC. SUSTAINED
WINDS AROUND 20 MPH APPEAR LIKELY DURING THE AFTERNOON. THE
ANTECEDENT AIR MASS WILL REMAIN DRY AND TEMPERATURES WILL LIKELY
WARM TO WELL ABOVE-NORMAL LEVELS GIVEN THE WLY TRAJECTORIES.
AFTERNOON HIGHS FROM THE 70S TO LOWER 80S ARE LIKELY...WITH
CRITICALLY LOW RH FROM 20 TO 25 PERCENT.

   ...SRN CA COASTAL MTNS...
MODEST OFFSHORE FLOW IS EXPECTED TO BE ONGOING ACROSS PORTIONS OF
THE COASTAL RANGE EARLY TUE. THIS WILL SUPPORT POOR OVERNIGHT RH
RECOVERY AND ANOTHER LONG DURATION OF CRITICALLY LOW RH ACROSS THE
AREA. AS THE FLOW REGIME BECOMES WEAKLY OFFSHORE TO NEAR
NEUTRAL...LIGHT AND VARIABLE WINDS WILL OCCUR BEGINNING TUE
   AFTERNOON.
