   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0355 AM CDT TUE MAY 08 2007

   VALID 081200Z - 091200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR MUCH OF FL/SERN AL/SWRN GA...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR MOST OF NEW ENGLAND...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
WATER VAPOR IMAGERY DEPICTS A WRN ATLANTIC BASIN CYCLONE CENTERED
NEAR 31N/76W. THIS AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL SLOWLY WEAKEN AS IT
DRIFTS WWD TOWARDS THE GA COAST. A ZONE OF ENHANCED LOW-LEVEL FLOW
WILL SPREAD FARTHER INLAND ACROSS THE SERN STATES. IN THE NRN
STREAM...A MID-LEVEL SHORT WAVE TROUGH WILL TRACK QUICKLY EWD FROM
NWRN ONTARIO TO THE QUEBEC COAST BY WED MORNING. IN ADVANCE OF THIS
TROUGH...LOW-LEVEL W/SWLY FLOW WILL INCREASE ACROSS NEW ENGLAND.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - MUCH OF FL/SERN AL/SWRN GA...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS / LOW RH / HIGH KBDI

   LOW-LEVEL FLOW WILL REMAIN MODERATELY STRONG /FROM 30 TO 40 MPH/
ACROSS THE MOST OF THE SOUTHEAST DUE TO THE OFFSHORE CYCLONE NEAR
THE GA COAST. SUSTAINED NLY SURFACE WINDS WILL RANGE FROM 15 TO 25
MPH. LATEST GPS PRECIPITABLE WATER ESTIMATES CONFIRM A MOISTURE
SURGE HAS OCCURRED OVER THE PAST SEVERAL HOURS ACROSS THE COASTAL
PLAINS OF SC/GA/NERN FL. FORECAST SOUNDINGS DEPICT THIS INCREASED
MOISTURE MIXING TOWARDS THE SURFACE AS DAYTIME HEATING ENSUES.
DESPITE NLY SFC WINDS...THE SERN GA/NERN FL NEAR-COASTAL AREAS
SHOULD REMAIN ABOVE CRITICALLY LOW RH VALUES. FARTHER INLAND/WWD...A
DRY CONTINENTAL AIR MASS WILL REMAIN WITH RH VALUES DROPPING TO 20
TO 35 PERCENT AS TEMPERATURES WARM INTO THE UPPER 70S TO LOWER 80S.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - MOST OF NEW ENGLAND...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: MODERATE WINDS / LOW RH / RECENT DRYNESS

ANOTHER DAY OF CRITICALLY LOW RH IS EXPECTED ACROSS NEW ENGLAND AS
BOTH SURFACE TEMPERATURES AND DEW POINTS INCREASE IN TANDEM FROM
MONDAY. AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES IN THE 70S WILL SUPPORT WIDESPREAD RH
OF 15 TO 25 PERCENT. SLIGHTLY HIGHER RH SHOULD OCCUR ACROSS NRN ME
WHERE MORE PREVALENT MID/UPPER-LEVEL CLOUD COVER WILL RETARD SURFACE
HEATING. MODEL GUIDANCE FORECASTS ARE VERY CONSISTENT IN DEPICTING A
BROAD AREA OF 30 TO 40 MPH LOW-LEVEL FLOW BETWEEN HIGH PRESSURE OFF
THE DELMARVA COAST AND A LOW PRESSURE TROUGH CROSSING QUEBEC.
THUS...SUSTAINED WINDS WILL LIKELY REACH 20 MPH DURING THE
   AFTERNOON.

   ...SRN CA COASTAL MTNS...
MODEST OFFSHORE FLOW /AOB 15 MPH/ HAS SUPPORTED POOR OVERNIGHT RH
RECOVERY ACROSS THE COASTAL MTNS. A LONG DURATION OF CRITICALLY LOW
RH /AOB 15 PERCENT/ WILL OCCUR WITH MIN VALUES OF 4 TO 8 PERCENT
THIS AFTERNOON. OFFSHORE FLOW SHOULD BECOME VARIABLE TO LIGHTLY
ONSHORE AS HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE ERN GREAT BASIN WEAKENS.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0457 AM CDT TUE MAY 08 2007

   VALID 091200Z - 101200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
CUTOFF LOW NEAR THE GA COAST SHOULD CONTINUE TO WEAKEN WHILE
BECOMING NEARLY STATIONARY. AS A RESULT...LOW-LEVEL FLOW IS EXPECTED
TO DIMINISH ACROSS THE SERN STATES. FARTHER NW...A MID-LEVEL SHORT
WAVE TROUGH OFF THE BRITISH COLUMBIA COAST SHOULD TRACK EWD ACROSS
SWRN CANADA ONTO THE CANADIAN PRAIRIES BY WED AFTERNOON. AN
ASSOCIATED LEE SURFACE TROUGH WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE NRN HIGH
PLAINS WITH AN INCREASE IN LOW-LEVEL SWLYS AHEAD OF THE TROUGH.

   ...WRN FL PANHANDLE...
A NARROW CORRIDOR OF LOW RH WILL REMAIN BETWEEN HIGH PRESSURE OVER
THE LOWER MS RIVER VALLEY AND WEAKENING LOW PRESSURE OFF THE GA
COAST. TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO WARM INTO THE MIDDLE 80S WITH RH
VALUES FALLING TO NEAR 30 PERCENT. AS THE COASTAL CYCLONE CONTINUES
TO WEAKEN...SURFACE WINDS SHOULD NOT BE AS STRONG AS ON TUE.
ATTM...IT APPEARS SUSTAINED WINDS MAY APPROACH 15 MPH AND SUPPORT
   BRIEF CRITICAL CONDITIONS.

   ...CNTRL/SRN FL...
LATEST MODEL GUIDANCE FORECASTS ARE QUITE VARIED WITH RH VALUES WED
AFTERNOON. THIS APPEARS TO BE DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF LOW-LEVEL
MOISTURE WRAPPING WWD AROUND THE GA COASTAL CYCLONE. MARGINALLY LOW
RH VALUES AROUND 35 PERCENT MAY OCCUR. WITH W/NWLY WINDS AROUND 15
   MPH...LOCALIZED CRITICAL CONDITIONS COULD DEVELOP.

   ...NWRN ND/FAR NERN MT...
W/SWLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TO AROUND 15 TO 20 MPH WED AFTERNOON
AHEAD OF A DEVELOPING LEE TROUGH. THIS WILL BRING DOWNSLOPE WARMING
AND WELL-ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES /LOWER TO MIDDLE 80S/ TO THE
REGION. RH VALUES SHOULD BECOME MARGINALLY LOW /AROUND 20 PERCENT/.
