NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0935 AM CDT TUE MAY 15 2007

   VALID 151200Z - 161200Z

CORRECTED FOR VALID TIME OF GRAPHIC

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER RIDGE WILL AMPLIFY ACROSS THE WRN STATES TODAY AS A UPPER
TROUGH DIGS ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES. AT THE SFC...A COLD FRONT WILL
EXTEND FROM SRN ONTARIO THROUGH THE OH VALLEY AND INTO THE SRN
PLAINS BY THIS AFTN. IN THE WAKE OF THIS COLD FRONT HIGH PRESSURE
WILL BUILD SWD ACROSS THE CNTRL AND NRN PLAINS. AHEAD OF THE FRONT
MODERATE SWLY WINDS WILL DEVELOP IN THE NORTHEAST IN THE WARM
SECTOR. ALONG WITH WARM TEMPERATURES...NEAR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
CONCERNS WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE NORTHEAST. MEANWHILE...MID
LEVEL MOISTURE OVER THE SRN ROCKIES WILL GET SHUNTED SLIGHTLY WWD
INTO THE FOUR CORNERS AREA LEADING TO ISOLATED DRY TSTMS POSSIBLE
OVER PORTIONS OF NRN AZ AND SRN UT.

   ...NORTHEAST...
NEAR CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE TODAY...AS STRONG LOW
LEVEL JET WINDS MIX DOWN TO THE SFC DURING THE AFTERNOON. WITH THE
ONSET OF THE STRONG LOW LEVEL JET...ELEVATED LOW LEVEL MOISTURE IS
ANTICIPATED TO MIX DOWNWARD TO THE SURFACE SUPPORTING A RISE IN
DWPTS INTO THE 50S OVER MOST OF THE AREA BY THIS AFTERNOON. WITH
TEMPERATURES IN THE 80S...MINIMUM RH VALUES MAY BRIEFLY FALL BELOW
40 PERCENT. DESPITE MODERATE WINDS...MARGINALLY LOW RH READINGS WILL
LIMIT A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT.

   ...SOUTHEAST...
A BROAD AREA OF SFC HIGH PRESSURE WILL MOVE OFF THE MID-ATLANTIC
COAST THROUGH TODAY. GENERALLY SUBSIDENT AIR IN THE LOW-MID LEVELS
WILL SUPPORT ANOTHER DAY OR RELATIVELY DRY AIR...WITH MIN RH
READINGS FROM 30-35 PERCENT OVER NRN FL/SRN AND CENTRAL GA AND THE
CAROLINAS. SUSTAINED ESELY WINDS WILL AVERAGE LESS THAN 10 MPH
PRECLUDING A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT.

   ...FOUR CORNERS REGION...
IN THE WAKE OF A COLD FRONT...MID LEVEL MOISTURE WILL BE SENT WWD
INTO THE FOUR CORNERS REGION DURING THE DAY. STEEP LOW LEVEL LAPSE
RATES AND A VERY DRY/DEEPLY MIXED BOUNDARY LAYER WILL SUPPORT THE
POTENTIAL FOR ISOLATED HIGH BASED DRY TSTMS OVER PORTIONS OF ERN AZ
   AND SERN UT.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0411 AM CDT TUE MAY 15 2007

   VALID 161200Z - 171200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER RIDGING WILL REMAIN OVER THE WEST TOMORROW...WITH UPPER
TROUGHING LOCATED OVER THE ERN STATES. A BROAD AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE
AT THE SFC WILL BE CENTERED OVER THE PLAINS IN THE WAKE OF A COLD
FRONT THAT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE ERN SEABOARD DURING THE PERIOD.
AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT SCT PRECIPITATION WILL OCCUR...BUT LITTLE
RELIEF IS EXPECTED OVER THE DROUGHT STRICKEN SOUTHEAST STATES. OVER
THE WRN CONUS...ISOLATED DRY TSTMS WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER THE GREAT
BASIN AHEAD OF A WEAK SHORTWAVE TROUGH....BUT MAINLY WET TSTMS ARE
   EXPECTED OVER THE SRN/CENTRAL ROCKIES.

   ...NRN/ERN GREAT BASIN...
A WEAK SHORTWAVE TROUGH WILL MOVE INTO THE GREAT BASIN THROUGH THE
PERIOD. WEAK COLD ADVECTION WILL SUPPORT MID LEVEL INSTABILITY
DEVELOPING OVER THE REGION. WITH GRADUAL INCREASE IN MID LEVEL
MOISTURE...ISOLATED TSTMS MAY DEVELOP AHEAD OF THIS WEAK SHORTWAVE
TROUGH DURING THE AFTERNOON OVER THE NRN/ERN GREAT BASIN. A
DRY/DEEPLY MIXED BOUNDARY LAYER WILL SUPPORT MAINLY DRY TSTMS. BUT
COVERAGE OF CONVECTION IS EXPECTED TO BE MARGINAL ENOUGH TO NOT
WARRANT A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT.

   ...NRN FLA/SERN GA...
MIN RH READINGS AROUND 30 PERCENT WILL OCCUR AGAIN OVER THE AREA
DURING THE AFTERNOON. LACK OF SUSTAINED WINDS GREATER THAN 10 MPH
WILL PRECLUDE A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT.
