   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0459 AM CDT TUE MAY 22 2007

   VALID 221200Z - 231200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SE AL/SRN GA/FL PANHANDLE AND
   CNTRL FL...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
WRN CONUS TROUGH AXIS IS MAKING ITS WAY ACROSS THE NRN ROCKIES EARLY
THIS MORNING...WHILE MID LEVEL RIDGE CONTINUES TO AMPLIFY ACROSS
NWRN ONTARIO. UPPER LOW IS FORECAST TO MOVE INTO WRN ND BY EARLY
WED...WITH ASSOCIATED MID LEVEL JET STREAK EXTENDING FROM THE ERN
DAKOTAS THROUGH WRN NEB/SRN CO/NRN AZ. AT THE SFC...LOW PRESSURE
SYSTEM WILL DEEPEN SLIGHTLY ACROSS THE NRN PLAINS...WITH A COLD
FRONT LOCATED FROM THE CNTRL DAKOTAS/NW KS BY LATE AFTN. A DRYLINE
WILL ALSO MIX EWD ACROSS THE TX/OK PANHANDLES REACHING JUST WEST OF
THE OK/TX STATE LINE BY EARLY EVENING. SFC WINDS WILL STRENGTHEN
ACROSS THE UPPER MIDWEST IN RESPONSE TO SFC LOW PRESSURE
SYSTEM...AND WINDS WILL ALSO STRENGTHEN ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE
SOUTHEAST WHERE CRITICALLY LOW HUMIDITY VALUES ARE EXPECTED AGAIN
   TODAY.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SE AL/SRN GA/FL PANHANDLE AND CNTRL
   FL...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: MINIMUM RH VALUES BELOW 20-25 PERCENT/MAX TEMPS
   80S AND 90S/SUSTAINED WINDS 15-20 MPH/LONG TERM DROUGHT

MONDAY EVENING SOUNDING FROM TALLAHASSEE SHOWED QUITE A PRONOUNCED
INVERTED-V PROFILE...AND BOTH SOUNDINGS FROM ATLANTA AND TALLAHASSEE
INDICATED RH VALUES NEAR 20 PERCENT AT 22/00Z. WITH MAX TEMPS
EXPECTED TO CLIMB INTO THE MID/UPPER 80S ACROSS SE GA AND N
FL...WITH LOW 90S POSSIBLE FARTHER WEST...MIN RH VALUES WILL FALL
BELOW 20-25 PERCENT AGAIN TODAY. MIN RH VALUES ACTUALLY DIPPED INTO
THE SINGLE DIGITS TO NEAR 15 PERCENT ACROSS PORTIONS OF NERN GA ON
MONDAY...AND CRITICALLY LOW RH READINGS ARE LIKELY TODAY OUTSIDE OF
   THE CRITICAL FIRE OUTLOOK AREA.

WHAT WILL MAKE CONDITIONS WORSE TODAY WILL BE INCREASED ELY WINDS.
SUSTAINED WINDS WILL RANGE FROM 15-20 MPH WITH A FEW HIGHER GUSTS
POSSIBLE. THIS WILL BE PARTICULARLY TRUE ACROSS INLAND AREAS. FUELS
REMAIN VERY DRY AND NO PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TODAY.

   ...UPPER MI...
SOUTH WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15-25 MPH AS LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM
APPROACHES FROM THE WEST. MAX TEMPS WILL ALSO CLIMB INTO THE
80S...AND THIS WILL RESULT IN HUMIDITY VALUES FALLING BELOW 35-40
PERCENT. IT DOES NOT APPEAR THAT CRITICALLY LOW RH VALUES WILL BE
WIDESPREAD IF THEY DO BRIEFLY OCCUR. WINDY CONDITIONS ARE ALSO
EXPECTED ACROSS LOWER MI...BUT LONG TERM DROUGHT CONDITIONS ARE
   WORSE ACROSS UPPER MI.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0501 AM CDT TUE MAY 22 2007

   VALID 231200Z - 241200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SE AL/SRN GA/FL PANHANDLE THROUGH
   CNTRL FL...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER LOW NOW CROSSING THE NRN ROCKIES WILL LIFT NORTHEAST INTO WRN
MANITOBA ON WEDNESDAY...ALONG WITH 80-85 KT MID LEVEL JET. LARGE
RIDGE WILL CONTINUE TO BUILD AS IT SHIFTS EAST ACROSS THE NORTHEAST.
SFC COLD FRONT WILL EXTEND FROM THE UPPER MIDWEST THROUGH THE CNTRL
PLAINS AND WILL BE A FOCUS FOR SHOWERS AND TSTMS ALONG AND AHEAD OF
THE FRONT. STRONG WINDS WILL CONTINUE ACROSS PORTIONS OF FL/AL/GA
ALONG WITH CRITICALLY LOW HUMIDITY. STRONG WINDS WILL ALSO DEVELOP
ACROSS LOWER MICHIGAN...SLIGHTLY INCREASING FIRE CONCERNS IN THIS
   REGION AS WELL.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SE AL/SRN GA/FL PANHANDLE THROUGH
   CNTRL FL...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED WINDS 15-20 MPH/MIN RH VALUES BELOW 30
   PERCENT/LONG TERM DROUGHT

STRONG ELY WINDS WILL PERSIST ON WED ASSOCIATED WITH INCREASING
GRADIENT BETWEEN STRONG ATLANTIC HIGH PRESSURE AND LOW PRESSURE
SYSTEM IN THE PLAINS. SUSTAINED WINDS WILL RANGE FROM 15-25 MPH WITH
HIGHER GUSTS POSSIBLE. FORECAST SOUNDINGS SUGGEST INVERTED-V
THERMODYNAMIC PROFILES...ESPECIALLY ACROSS SE AL/THE ERN FL
PANHANDLE AND SW GA. TEMP/DEWPOINT SPREADS ARE EXPECTED TO EXCEED
25-30 DEGREES ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE OUTLOOK AREA...WITH MINIMUM RH
VALUES BELOW 20-30 PERCENT. EVEN WHERE HUMIDITY IS SOMEWHAT
HIGHER...THE INCREASE IN WIND COMBINED WITH VERY DRY FUELS AND
ONGOING WILDFIRES WILL CREATE DANGEROUS FIRE CONDITIONS ON WED.

   ...LOWER MI...
STRONG SLY WINDS WILL DEVELOP ACROSS LOWER MI ON WEDNESDAY. ALTHOUGH
HUMIDITY VALUES WILL BE RELATIVELY LOW /LESS THAN 35 PERCENT/...THEY
SHOULD REMAIN ABOVE CRITICAL VALUES EVEN WITH HIGH TEMPS IN THE 80S.
LONG TERM DROUGHT INDICATIONS SUGGEST MUCH OF THE REGION IS
EXPERIENCING WETTER THAN NORMAL CONDITIONS AND FIRE DANGER CLASS
OBSERVATIONS ARE LOW. THESE FACTORS SHOULD HELP OFFSET THE POTENTIAL
   FOR DEVELOPMENT OF LARGE FIRES.
