   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0252 AM CDT SUN MAY 27 2007

   VALID 271200Z - 281200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SRN GA INTO NRN FL...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
HIGH PRESSURE WILL MAINTAIN WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS ACROSS THE SERN
U.S. WITH CRITICAL CONDITIONS ONCE AGAIN SRN GA/NRN FL. A VERY WARM
AND DRY AIR MASS WILL PERSIST ACROSS THE SW STATES AND GREAT BASIN
AS AN UPPER TROUGH AND COLD FRONT MOVE ACROSS THE PACIFIC NW.
INCREASED WINDS AND A WIND SHIFT OVER THE GREAT BASIN WILL RESULT IN
ELEVATED FIRE THREAT THIS AFTERNOON. ELSEWHERE...COOL BUT DRY
CONDITIONS WILL OCCUR INTO THE UPPER MS VALLEY DUE TO HIGH PRESSURE
AND FLOODING RAINS WILL CONTINUE INTO TX/OK.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SRN GA INTO NRN FL...

   PRIMARY CONDITIONS: HOT/UNSTABLE CONDITIONS...E WINDS...LOW
   RH...EXTREME DROUGHT

FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL WILL BE HIGH THIS AFTERNOON AS DEEP AND DRY
MIXING LAYERS DEVELOP. WARM TEMPERATURES WILL ALLOW RH TO DROP TO
25-30 PERCENT OVER SRN GA AND FAR NRN FL...AND NEAR 35 PERCENT SRN
AREAS ALONG THE FL W COAST. E WINDS FROM 10 MPH SRN GA TO 15 MPH NRN
FL WILL FURTHER INCREASE FIRE THREAT GIVEN EXTREME DROUGHT
CONDITIONS WITH KBDI VALUES IN EXCESS OF 700. ONGOING FIRES MAY
   EXPERIENCE PLUME DOMINATION THIS AFTERNOON.

...NRN AND ERN NV...NRN AND WRN UT...
LOW PRESSURE WILL DEEPEN OVER SRN ID TODAY IN RESPONSE TO A STRONG
UPPER TROUGH. THE SURFACE LOW/TROUGH WILL EXTEND SWWD INTO NRN NV
WITH WINDS SHIFTING TO WLY AND NWLY AT 15-20 MPH ALONG AND BEHIND
THIS FRONT. THIS FRONT IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN DRY AND WILL MOVE
THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF NERN NV AND NRN UT LATE THIS EVENING WHEN
IT WILL BE COOLER BUT WITH POOR RH RECOVERY. THERE IS A VERY SMALL
CHANCE OF AN ISOLATED THUNDERSTORM FROM FAR NERN NV INTO NRN
UT...FORMING LATE IN THE DAY ON THE HIGHER TERRAIN.

...SRN NV INTO LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY REGION...
SLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15-20 MPH AHEAD OF DEEPENING SURFACE LOW
TO THE N. RH WILL REMAIN LOW FROM 10-15 PERCENT WITH HOT
TEMPERATURES AND A MDT HAINES INDEX.

   ...CNTRL AND SRN FL...
NEAR CRITICAL CONDITIONS WILL DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON DUE TO GUSTY E
WINDS OF 15-20 MPH AND MARGINAL LOW RH OF 35-45 PERCENT. GIVEN
ONGOING DROUGHT CONDITIONS...ESPECIALLY OVER THE WRN HALF OF WRN
   FL...FIRE THREAT WILL REMAIN ELEVATED.

...MN INTO WI AND NRN IL...
HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD INTO THE UPPER MS VALLEY REGION IN WAKE OF
UPPER LOW/TROUGH ACROSS ONTARIO. ALTHOUGH PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL
RELAX WITH TIME...WLY WINDS OF 15-20 MPH WILL OCCUR OVER MN
INCREASING TO 20-25 MPH INTO ERN WI AND MI. RH LEVELS WILL GENERALLY
REMAIN ABOVE CRITICAL LEVELS DUE TO COOL TEMPERATURES WITH VALUES
AVERAGING FROM 25-30 PERCENT OVER MN TO 35-40 PERCENT FARTHER E.
RECENT PRECIPITATION WILL HELP MITIGATE ANY FIRE THREAT IN MOST
   AREAS.

   ...WA/OR...
STRONG WLY WINDS WILL OCCUR TODAY ESPECIALLY THROUGH PASSES AND
CANYONS BEHIND PACIFIC FRONT. SPEEDS OF 20-30 MPH WILL BE LIKELY.
DOWNSLOPE FLOW WILL LOCALLY DECREASE RH TO 20-30 PERCENT.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0319 AM CDT SUN MAY 27 2007

   VALID 281200Z - 291200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A STRONG UPPER TROUGH WILL MOVE ACROSS MT WITH SURFACE LOW
DEVELOPING INTO THE DAKOTAS. COLD FRONT WILL EXTEND BACK ACROSS WY
AND INTO THE NRN GREAT BASIN. STRONG WINDS WILL OCCUR NEAR THIS
FRONT OVER WY...WITH STRONG SLY WINDS FARTHER E INTO THE PLAINS.
HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE WILL CONTINUE TO AFFECT THE SERN STATES...BUT
MOISTURE MAY INCREASE A BIT. A COLD FRONT WILL BLOW THROUGH NEW
ENGLAND WITH HIGH PRESSURE PROVIDING COOL AND DRY CONDITIONS WWD
INTO THE OH VALLEY AND ERN GREAT LAKES AREA.

   ...SRN WY...
STRONG WLY WINDS WILL OCCUR AS BASE OF UPPER TROUGH PASSES OVERHEAD.
SPEEDS OF 20-30 MPH WILL BE LIKELY WITH HIGHER GUSTS. TEMPERATURES
WILL BE MILD AND IN THE 70S...WITH RH MODERATELY LOW FROM 15-25
   PERCENT.

   ...SRN GA INTO FL...
NEAR CRITICAL CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY ON MONDAY WITH CONTINUED AFFECTS
OF HIGH PRESSURE. INDICATION ARE THAT RH MAY INCREASE A BIT TO 35-40
PERCENT BUT WINDS SHOULD REMAIN AT 10-15 MPH OUT OF THE E. STRONG
HEATING AND POSSIBLE DEEP MIXING WOULD STILL MAINTAIN A HIGH FIRE
   THREAT.

   ...ERN NV INTO UT...
THE COLD FRONT WILL EXTEND ACROSS CNTRL NV INTO UT MONDAY AFTERNOON.
CONVERGENCE ALONG THIS FRONT AND HEATING MAY ALLOW FOR MARGINAL
INSTABILITY TO DEVELOP WITH ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS. DRY SUB CLOUD
LAYER WOULD SUGGEST LITTLE RAIN AND MAYBE SOME DRY LIGHTNING.
