   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0256 AM CDT MON MAY 28 2007

   VALID 281200Z - 291200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A POTENT UPPER TROUGH WILL MOVE ACROSS THE NRN ROCKIES TODAY WITH
STRONG WINDS ACROSS MT AND WY. IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE TROUGH...A
COLD FRONT WILL EXTEND FROM WRN DAKOTAS ACROSS WY AND INTO CNTRL NV
AND UT. NUMEROUS WET STORMS WILL OCCUR FROM WY/CO NEWD INTO THE
DAKOTAS...WITH MORE ISOLATED ACTIVITY FARTHER W INTO NV/UT/WRN CO
WHERE A FEW DRY STORMS ARE LIKELY.

TO THE E...SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE WILL REMAIN OVER THE WRN
ATLANTIC WITH AXIS EXTENDING WWD INTO THE SERN STATES. AS A
RESULT...IT WILL REMAIN WARM AND DRY INTO DROUGHT STRICKEN GA AND
FL...WITH INCREASED FIRE THREAT DURING THE AFTERNOON.

ELSEWHERE...HIGH PRESSURE WILL FILTER INTO THE OH VALLEY/ERN GREAT
LAKES IN THE WAKE OF A MORNING COLD FRONT...WITH MILD AND DRY
   CONDITIONS PREVAILING.

   ...SRN WY INTO UT/WRN CO...
BASE OF UPPER TROUGH WILL SWEEP ACROSS THE NRN ROCKIES WITH STRONG
WLY WINDS BEHIND THE COLD FRONT. SPEEDS OF 20-30 MPH ARE LIKELY FROM
SRN ID INTO CNTRL/SRN WY. RH WILL BE MODERATELY LOW IN THESE AREAS
FROM 15-25 PERCENT. THE COLD FRONT WILL SHIFT SWD INTO CNTRL UT/NV
BY AFTERNOON WITH WIDELY SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS. A MIXTURE OF WET
AND DRY STORMS ARE LIKELY...WITH THE LEAST AMOUNT OF RAIN ACROSS SRN
FRINGE OF PRECIPITATION ZONE WHERE IT WILL BE HOT AND VERY DRY. SWLY
WINDS OF 15-20 MPH WILL OCCUR S OF THE FRONT ALONG WITH A HIGH
   HAINES INDEX.

   ...SRN GA INTO NRN FL...
AN UPPER RIDGE WILL REMAIN OVER THE AREA WITH SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE
CENTER JUST OFFSHORE. THIS WILL MAINTAIN WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS. RH
LEVELS MAY BE UP SLIGHTLY TODAY...FROM 30-35 PERCENT ALONG WITH ELY
WINDS NEAR 10 MPH. THIS WILL STILL RESULT IN MARGINALLY CRITICAL
   FIRE CONDITIONS THIS AFTERNOON.

   ...NY/PA...
ALTHOUGH RECENT PRECIPITATION HAS MOISTENED FUELS IN MANY
AREAS...SOME SPOTS STILL HAVE RECEIVED LITTLE RAIN OVER THE PAST
COUPLE WEEKS. PRESENCE OF HIGH PRESSURE AND WLY WINDS AROUND 15 MPH
WILL USHER IN A DRIER AIR MASS WITH MIN RH IN THE 30 PERCENT RANGE
THIS AFTERNOON. THEREFORE...LOCALIZED AREAS OF MARGINAL FIRE THREAT
MAY MATERIALIZE ESPECIALLY FROM FAR S-CNTRL NY INTO CNTRL/W-CNTRL
   PA.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0256 AM CDT MON MAY 28 2007

   VALID 291200Z - 301200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER TROUGH WILL CONTINUE SLOWLY EWD ACROSS THE NRN
ROCKIES/PLAINS...WITH UPPER RIDGE BUILDING NWD ALONG THE W COAST
WITH THERMAL RIDGE FROM GA INTO OR/WA. WIDESPREAD PRECIPITATION WILL
CONTINUE ACROSS THE CENTRAL U.S. WHILE DRY CONDITIONS PERSIST OVER
THE SE UNDER UPPER RIDGE AND WITH HIGH PRESSURE.

   ...SRN GA INTO NRN FL...
MODERATELY LOW RH AND ELY WINDS OF 10-15 MPH WILL OCCUR ONCE AGAIN
TUE AFTERNOON WITH HIGH PRESSURE TO THE E. WARM TEMPERATURES IN THE
UPPER 80S WILL RESULT IN MIN RH OF 30-35 PERCENT SRN GA WITH HIGHER
VALUES INTO NRN AND CNTRL FL. GIVEN EXTREME DROUGHT...THIS WILL
RESULT IN INCREASED AFTERNOON FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL.

...SWRN TX INTO NM AND AZ...
A DRY AIR MASS WILL REMAIN IN PLACE WITH MIN RH OF 10-15 PERCENT ON
AVERAGE. WLY WINDS OF 10-20 MPH WILL BE COMMON AS WELL WITH LOW
PRESSURE OVER ERN NM. MOIST FUEL CONDITIONS WILL MINIMIZE FIRE
THREAT TX/NM...BUT MARGINAL THREAT WILL EXIST INTO AZ WHERE FUELS
   ARE MUCH DRIER.
