   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0421 AM CDT MON JUN 04 2007

   VALID 041200Z - 051200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR PORTIONS OF THE WRN GREAT BASIN...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A STRONG UPPER TROUGH OVER THE NRN PACIFIC WILL MOVE SLOWLY EWD
TOWARDS THE WEST COAST THROUGH TONIGHT AND WILL AID IN A BREAKDOWN
AND EWD SHIFT OF THE UPPER RIDGE INTO THE ROCKIES. ASSOCIATED
COMBINATION OF MODERATE WINDS/LOW RH READINGS WILL SUPPORT A
CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT OVER PORTIONS OF THE WRN GREAT BASIN
TODAY. ELSEWHERE...A BROAD UPPER TROUGH OVER THE ERN CONUS WILL
SUPPORT ANOTHER DAY OF SCT TSTMS. MODEST LOW LEVEL MOISTURE AND
GENERALLY WEAK WINDS WILL PRECLUDE ANY OTHER AREAS OF FIRE WEATHER
   CONCERNS TODAY.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - ERN SLOPES OF THE SIERRA
   NEVADA...WRN NV...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED WLY WINDS FROM 20-25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP
TO 30 MPH...MIN RH READINGS FROM 8-12 PERCENT

AS STRONG MID LEVEL FLOW BEGINS TO OVERSPREAD THE SIERRA NEVADA
ASSOCIATED WITH THE APPROACHING UPPER TROUGH...SFC WINDS WILL
INCREASE OVER THE WRN GREAT BASIN. WINDS WILL INCREASE TO BETWEEN
20-25 MPH BY MID-AFTERNOON. VERY WARM TEMPERATURES /5-10 DEG ABOVE
NORMAL/ ASSOCIATED WITH THERMAL TROUGH AND SEASONABLY LOW DEWPTS
WILL SUPPORT MIN RH READINGS FROM 8-12 PERCENT. THE COMBINATION OF
WINDS/RH READINGS WILL SUPPORT A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT. WINDS
ARE EXPECTED TO DIMINISH IN LOWER ELEVATIONS SHORTLY AFTER
SUNSET...BUT WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN STRONG IN HIGHER
   ELEVATIONS WELL AFTER DARK.

   ...SRN GREAT BASIN/CA HIGH DESERT...
SWLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TODAY IN RESPONSE TO THE APPROACHING UPPER
TROUGH AND A DEEPENING AREA OF SFC LOW PRESSURE OVER THE NRN GREAT
BASIN. SUSTAINED WINDS FROM 15-20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 25 MPH ARE
EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON. VERY WARM TEMPERATURES FROM 95-105 F AND
LOW DEWPTS WILL SUPPORT MIN RH VALUES FROM 5-10 PERCENT. WEAKER
WINDS THAN FURTHER NORTH WILL PRECLUDE A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
   THREAT.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0426 AM CDT MON JUN 04 2007

   VALID 051200Z - 061200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR A LARGE PORTION OF THE SOUTHWEST
   AND GREAT BASIN...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A STRONG UPPER TROUGH WILL DIG SEWD INTO THE WRN CONUS THROUGH THE
PERIOD. AHEAD OF AN ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT...STRONG SWLY WINDS
COMBINED WITH LOW RH READINGS WILL SUPPORT A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
THREAT FROM WRN CO...WRN NM...WWD INTO THE WRN GREAT BASIN/LOWER CO
RIVER VALLEY AND CA HIGH DESERTS. LOW RH READINGS/GUSTY WINDS WILL
EXTEND EWD INTO ERN NM AND PORTIONS OF ERN CO/FAR WRN TX...BUT
RECENT WET SPELL IN THIS AREA WILL PRECLUDE A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
THREAT. UPPER RIDGING WILL OCCUR DOWNSTREAM OVER THE PLAINS STATES
LEADING TO A WARMING TREND IN THIS REGION. THE UPPER TROUGH OVER THE
ERN CONUS WILL SLOWLY LIFT AWAY FROM THE REGION. BREEZY SWLY/WLY
WINDS WILL OCCUR IN THE WAKE OF THE SYSTEM OVER THE SERN
   STATES/MID-ATLANTIC.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SERN CA...SRN/CENTRAL NV...MOST OF
   UT/AZ...WRN NM/WRN CO...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS FROM 25-35 MPH WITH GUSTS
OVER 40 MPH...MIN RH READINGS FROM 5-10 PERCENT...LONG TERM DROUGHT

GIVEN THE BREADTH OF THE STRONG UPPER TROUGH OVER THE WEST AND
ASSOCIATED MID LEVEL WIND FIELDS...A BROAD AREA OF STRONG SFC WINDS
ARE EXPECTED TOMORROW. SWLY SFC WINDS FROM 20-30 MPH ARE EXPECTED TO
OCCUR OVER THE ENTIRE AREA AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT EXTENDING FROM SERN
ID INTO CENTRAL CA BY LATE AFTERNOON. VERY LOW RH READINGS /5-15
PERCENT/ WILL OCCUR OVER THE ENTIRE REGION AS ABOVE NORMAL
TEMPERATURES AND SEASONABLY LOW DWPTS EXIST. THE COMBINATION OF
PARAMETERS SUPPORT A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT OVER THIS AREA.
OVER SRN NV...SRN/CENTRAL UT AND PORTIONS OF WRN CO...SUSTAINED
WINDS FROM 30-35 MPH MAY OCCUR /DUE TO CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE MID
LEVEL JET/. IF LATER FCSTS MAINTAIN THE STRENGTH OF THESE SFC
WINDS...AN UPGRADE TO AN EXTREMELY CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT IS
EXPECTED IN TOMORROW/S OUTLOOK IN THIS AREA.

...ERN NM/ERN CO AND FAR WRN TX...
SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS FROM 20-25 MPH ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP TO THE
WEST OF A DEVELOPING DRYLINE. LOW RH READINGS FROM 10-15 PERCENT ARE
EXPECTED AS TEMPERATURES WARM INTO THE UPPER 80S/LOWER 90S AND DWPTS
FALL INTO THE 20S/30S. RECENT MOIST SPELL WILL LIMIT ANY CRITICAL
FIRE WEATHER THREAT DESPITE FAVORABLE ATMOSPHERIC PARAMETERS.
