   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0226 AM CDT THU JUN 14 2007

   VALID 141200Z - 151200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A LOW AMPLITUDE UPPER TROUGH WILL LIFT NWD OUT OF MT ALLOWING UPPER
RIDGE TO BUILD ACROSS THE WEST. HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL
UNDER THIS RIDGE OVER CA...THE GREAT BASIN...AND DESERT SW WITH MDT
TO HIGH HAINES INDEX. SECONDARY UPPER RIDGE CENTER WILL REMAIN OVER
THE WRN GREAT LAKES WITH WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS PREVAILING.
ELSEWHERE...WEAK UPPER LOW WILL BRING HEAVY RAIN TO THE CENTRAL
PLAINS WHILE ERN U.S. TROUGH KEEPS CONDITIONS MILD AND MOIST.

   ...CA/NV/UT/AZ...
IT WILL BE VERY HOT AND DRY UNDER AN UPPER RIDGE WITH LOCALLY GUSTY
WINDS DUE TO STRONG VERTICAL MIXING. TEMPERATURES IN THE 90S AND
100S WILL BE WIDESPREAD WITH MIN RH INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS TO LOWER
TEENS. W TO SWLY WINDS AROUND 15 MPH WILL DEVELOP BY LATE IN THE DAY
WITH SOME HIGHER GUSTS. HAINES INDEX WILL BE MDT TO HIGH THIS
   AFTERNOON.

   ...UPPER MIDWEST/GREAT LAKES...
VERY WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS WILL PERSIST WITH HIGH PRESSURE AT THE
SURFACE AND UPPER RIDGE ALOFT. TEMPERATURES WILL REACH THE LOWER 90S
WITH MIN RH OF 25-30 PERCENT IN GENERAL. IN ADDITION...ANTICYCLONIC
FLOW AROUND THE HIGH WILL PRODUCE WINDS OF 10-15 MPH...WHICH MAY
ENHANCE FIRE THREAT IN LOCALIZED AREAS THAT DID NOT RECEIVE
   SIGNIFICANT PRECIPITATION RECENTLY.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0226 AM CDT THU JUN 14 2007

   VALID 151200Z - 161200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER RIDGE WILL CONTINUE TO BUILD OVER THE FOUR CORNERS STATES
WHILE UPPER TROUGH ACROSS THE PACIFIC NW DROPS SLIGHTLY SWD. VERY
HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL UNDER THE RIDGE.
MEANWHILE...WEAK UPPER LOW OVER THE SRN PLAINS WILL BRING HEAVY
RAINS...AND ERN U.S. TROUGH WILL KEEP CONDITIONS COOL AND MOIST
   ALONG THE MID ATLANTIC.

   ...MUCH OF THE WEST...
EXPANSIVE UPPER RIDGE WILL STRETCH FROM CA ACROSS THE DESERT SW AND
GREAT BASIN NEWD INTO WY WITH VERY HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS AND MDT TO
HIGH HAINES INDICES. THE STRONGLY DRY AND UNSTABLE CONDITIONS WILL
BE FAVORABLE FOR FIRE GROWTH. THE LOWEST RH WILL EXIST ACROSS SRN
NV/UT INTO SERN CA AND AZ WITH SINGLE DIGITS. IN ADDITION...SWLY
WINDS OF 15-20 MPH WILL FURTHER INCREASE FIRE DANGER...ALTHOUGH
WINDS ARE NOT EXPECTED TO REACH CRITICAL LEVELS.

...IL/IN INTO MI AND SRN WI...
A VERY WARM AND DRY AIR MASS WILL REMAIN UNDER UPPER
RIDGE...ALTHOUGH SURFACE HIGH WILL WEAKEN. MIN AFTERNOON RH SHOULD
STILL DROP INTO THE 25-35 PERCENT RANGE BUT WITH LIGHT WINDS. GIVEN
SEVERAL DAYS OF WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS...AT LEAST FINE FUELS ARE
   LIKELY BECOMING DRY.
