HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS WIDESPREAD. TO THE N...BELT OF STRONGER FLOW
ALOFT WILL RETREAT NWD A BIT BEFORE NEXT TROUGH AMPLIFIES ON SAT.

UPPER RIDGE AXIS EXTENDING INTO THE MIDWEST AND UPPER MS VALLEY WITH

...SRN UT AND NV...SRN CA AND NRN AZ...
IT WILL CONTINUE TO BE VERY HOT AND DRY TODAY UNDER THE UPPER RIDGE.
A HIGH HAINES INDEX WILL PROVIDE FAVORABLE FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL
THIS AFTERNOON...WITH LOW RH IN THE SINGLE DIGITS TO LOWER TEENS AND
STEEP LOW/MID LEVEL LAPSE RATES. WINDS WILL BE LOCALLY GUSTY

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK

   0352 AM CDT FRI JUN 15 2007

   VALID 161200Z - 171200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NWRN AZ...MUCH OF UT AND NV...SRN
   ID...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A STRONG UPPER TROUGH WILL SLOWLY MOVE ACROSS THE PACIFIC NW AND
WILL IMPINGE UPON THE HOT/DRY UPPER RIDGE OVER THE GREAT BASIN AND
SWRN STATES...CREATING CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS FROM SRN ID INTO
NWRN AZ. THERE WILL BE A DRY COLD FRONT WITH THIS TROUGH...WHICH
WILL CAUSE WINDS TO SHIFT ACROSS NRN NV/SRN ID INTO NRN ID. LIFT
WITH THE TROUGH MAY PRODUCE ISOLATED DRY STORMS FROM NRN UT INTO
SERN ID BUT STRIKES NOT EXPECTED TO BE PARTICULARLY WIDESPREAD AT
   THIS TIME.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - NWRN AZ...MUCH OF UT AND NV...SRN
   ID...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: STRONG WINDS...VERY LOW RH...WIND SHIFT NRN
   AREAS

A SLIGHT BREAKDOWN OF THE UPPER RIDGE WILL OCCUR AS AN UPPER TROUGH
MOVES EWD ACROSS THE PACIFIC NW. THIS WILL RESULT IN INCREASED SWLY
WINDS AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT THAT WILL EXTEND FROM CNTRL ID INTO SERN
OREGON LATE SATURDAY. SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS NEAR 20 MPH WILL BE
COMMON WITH GUSTS OF 20-30 MPH...WITH VERY LOW RH FROM THE SINGLE
DIGITS TO LOWER TEENS. THE WINDS WILL SHIFT/VEER AS THE DRY COLD
FRONT CONTINUES SEWD ACROSS NV AND NWRN UT LATE AFTERNOON INTO THE
   EVENING...WITH POOR RH RECOVERY OVERNIGHT.

   ...SERN ID...NRN UT...WRN WY...
LIFT WITH APPROACHING UPPER TROUGH...SWLY UPSLOPE FLOW AND STRONG
HEATING WILL LIKELY RESULT IN ISOLATED DRY THUNDERSTORMS SAT
AFTERNOON MAINLY ACROSS THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF SERN ID...NRN UT AND
WRN WY. COVERAGE IS NOT EXPECTED TO MEET CRITICAL CRITERIA AT THIS
TIME...ALTHOUGH DRY LIGHTNING POTENTIAL WILL CONTINUE TO BE CLOSELY
   MONITORED AS TROUGH NEARS.

...UPPER MIDWEST INTO LOWER GREAT LAKES...
VERY WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS WILL PERSIST UNDER UPPER RIDGE. MIN RH
OF 20-30 PERCENT WILL BE LIKELY WITH WLY WINDS NEAR 10 MPH. GIVEN
SEVERAL DAYS IN A ROW OF WARM AND DRY WEATHER...FIRE THREAT WILL BE
   ELEVATED DURING THE AFTERNOON.
