   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0454 AM CDT SAT JUN 16 2007

   VALID 161200Z - 171200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NWRN AZ/MUCH OF UT AND NV/SRN
   ID...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
EARLY MORNING WATER VAPOR LOOPS SHOW UPPER LOW JUST OFF THE PACIFIC
NORTHWEST COAST. THIS LOW WILL MOVE ACROSS NRN WA THROUGH TONIGHT
AND INTO NW MT BY EARLY SUNDAY ACCOMPANIED BY AT 60-70 KT MID LEVEL
JET. THIS SYSTEM WILL SERVE TO DEAMPLIFY WRN UPPER RIDGE WHICH HAS
BEEN IN PLACE THE PAST FEW DAYS. SFC LOW PRESSURE WILL DEEPEN IN
RESPONSE TO THIS SYSTEM OVER SRN ID...WITH A COLD FRONT FORECAST
ACROSS THE NRN GREAT BASIN BY EVENING. AHEAD OF THIS
BOUNDARY...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS WILL DEVELOP DUE TO
STRONG WINDS/LOW HUMIDITY AND DRY FUELS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - NWRN AZ/MUCH OF UT AND NV/SRN ID...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED WINDS 15-25 MPH/MIN RH VALUES BELOW 15
   PERCENT/RECORD HIGH TEMPS/DRY FUELS

MUCH OF THE OUTLOOK AREA WILL REMAIN SOUTH OF THE COLD FRONT
TODAY...INCLUDING UT AND PARTS OF NV. FOR PORTIONS OF SRN ID AND NRN
NV...WIND SHIFT WILL ACCOMPANY FROPA. MAX TEMPS WILL BE IN THE
   80S/90S WITH A FEW LOCATIONS REACHING THE 100 DEGREE MARK...WITH A
FEW RECORD HIGH TEMPS LIKELY. MINIMUM RH VALUES WILL FALL BELOW 10
PERCENT...WITH GUSTY W/SW WINDS IN THE DAY. LATEST NFDRS FIRE DANGER
CLASS OBSERVATIONS ARE IN THE HIGH TO EXTREME RANGE...AND THE
COMBINATION OF HOT AND WINDY WEATHER WILL CONTRIBUTE TO CRITICAL
FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS TODAY. IN ADDITION...ISOLD DRY TSTMS ARE
POSSIBLE ACROSS PORTIONS OF SRN ID AND NRN UT MAINLY NORTH OF SALT
   LAKE.

   ...EXTREME ERN AZ/WRN NM...
SCATTERED TSTMS WILL DEVELOP TODAY OVER PORTIONS OF NM WITH THE
HIGHEST COVERAGE OVER THE CNTRL MTNS. MORE ISOLD COVERAGE OF STORMS
IS POSSIBLE NEAR THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE...AND THESE STORMS HAVE A
GREATER CHANCE OF CONTAINING LITTLE RAIN AND ISOLD DRY LIGHTNING
STRIKES. FORECAST SOUNDINGS SUGGEST TSTM BASES WILL BE ON THE ORDER
OF 10000-12000 FT AGL...WITH VERY DRY SUBCLOUD LAYERS. MINIMUM SFC
RH VALUES WILL FALL BELOW 15 PERCENT. NEW IGNITIONS ARE POSSIBLE
   GIVEN DRY AMBIENT CONDITIONS.
