   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0438 AM CDT THU JUN 21 2007

   VALID 211200Z - 221200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A BROAD UPPER RIDGE WILL REMAIN IN PLACE OVER THE WRN/CENTRAL CONUS
TODAY. ASSOCIATED WITH THE UPPER RIDGE...A DRY AIRMASS WILL BE
PRESENT OVER THE SOUTHWEST/ROCKIES REGION WHERE MIN RH READINGS FROM
5-15 PERCENT WILL BE COMMONPLACE. GENERALLY WEAK WINDS /SUSTAINED
LESS THAN 20 MPH/ OVER THIS ENTIRE AREA WILL PRECLUDE A CRITICAL
FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK. TO THE WEST OF THIS RIDGE...A DEEP UPPER LOW
OVER THE NERN PACIFIC WILL GRADUALLY SHIFT TOWARDS THE WEST
COAST...BUT IT/S INFLUENCE ON SFC WIND FIELDS WILL BE DELAYED UNTIL
TOMORROW. FURTHER EAST....A LARGE AREA OF LOW RH READINGS WILL BE
FOUND OVER THE SERN STATES ASSOCIATED WITH A BROAD SFC HIGH PRESSURE
CENTERED OVER THE REGION. HOWEVER WEAK SFC WINDS /LESS THAN 10 MPH/
WILL LIMIT ANY CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT.

   ...SOUTHWEST/GREAT BASIN...
VERY LOW RH READINGS /5-10 PERCENT/ WILL BE WIDESPREAD ACROSS THE
REGION TODAY ASSOCIATED WITH VERY WARM TEMPERATURES SUPPORTED BY AN
UPPER RIDGE ALOFT AND ASSOCIATED SUBSIDENCE. ALTHOUGH LOCALIZED
GUSTY WINDS WILL BE POSSIBLE /NAMELY OVER THE NWRN GREAT BASIN...THE
FOUR CORNERS AREA AND THE HIGH DESERT OF SRN CA/ SUSTAINED WINDS
OVER THE ENTIRE AREA WILL REMAIN LESS THAN 20 MPH.

   ...ERN AZ/WRN NM...
THE WRN EDGE OF THE MID LEVEL MOISTURE WILL REMAIN OVER THE AREA
TODAY. AS IN RECENT DAYS...ANOTHER ROUND OF ISOLATED/WIDELY SCT
TSTMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN. DRY LOW LEVELS
WILL SUPPORT MAINLY DRY TSTMS. LACK OF GREATER COVERAGE WILL
PRECLUDE A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT.

   ...SERN STATES...
PRESENCE OF DRY AIR ASSOCIATED WITH A BROAD AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE
AND ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES WILL SUPPORT MIN RH READINGS FROM
20-30 PERCENT. SUSTAINED WINDS WILL AVERAGE LESS THAN 10 MPH
   HOWEVER.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0436 AM CDT THU JUN 21 2007

   VALID 221200Z - 231200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR A PORTION OF THE NWRN GREAT
BASIN/ERN SLOPES OF THE NRN SIERRA NEVADA...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
A BROAD UPPER RIDGE OVER THE WRN/CENTRAL CONUS THROUGH THE PERIOD
WILL GRADUALLY SHIFT EWD AHEAD OF A DEEPENING UPPER TROUGH OFF THE
PAC NW COAST. ASSOCIATED WITH THIS UPPER TROUGH...STRENGTHENING WIND
FIELDS AT MID LEVELS WILL SUPPORT INCREASING SFC WINDS OVER THE NWRN
GREAT BASIN/ERN SLOPES OF THE NRN SIERRA NEVADA. FURTHER EAST...A
BROAD AREA OF SFC HIGH PRESSURE AND ASSOCIATED WEAK NLY WINDS WILL
REMAIN OVER THE SERN STATES LEADING TO ANOTHER DAY OF LOW RH
   READINGS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - FAR NERN CA...NWRN NV AND SERN
   ORE...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS AROUND 20 MPH...MIN RH
   READINGS FROM 5-10 PERCENT

AHEAD OF AN UPPER TROUGH...MID LEVEL WINDS WILL INCREASE OVER THE
AREA DURING THE PERIOD. GUSTY SWLY WINDS ARE FORECAST TO DEVELOP
OVER THE ERN SLOPES OF THE NRN SIERRA NEVADA AND ADJACENT HIGH
DESERT REGION OF NWRN NV/SERN ORE. VERY DRY AIR AND WARM
TEMPERATURES IN PLACE OVER THE AREA WILL SUPPORT LOW RH READINGS
FROM 5-10 PERCENT DURING THE AFTERNOON. THE COMBINATION OF THESE
FACTORS WILL SUPPORT A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THREAT.

...FAR ECENTRAL/SERN AZ AND FAR WRN NM...
ANOTHER DAY OF ISOLATED DRY TSTMS IS EXPECTED ON THE WRN EDGE OF MID
LEVEL MOISTURE WHICH WILL REMAIN OVER THE AREA TOMORROW...AS VERY
WARM TEMPERATURES/LOW RH READINGS SUPPORT HIGH CLOUD BASES.

   ...SERN STATES...
LOW RH READINGS FROM 20-30 PERCENT WILL OCCUR AGAIN TOMORROW
AFTERNOON UNDER THE PRESENCE OF A BROAD SFC HIGH PRESSURE AREA.
LIGHT WINDS /LESS THAN 10 MPH/ WILL PRECLUDE A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
   THREAT.
