   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0231 AM CDT SAT JUN 30 2007

   VALID 301200Z - 011200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SRN NV INTO SWRN WY...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER TROUGH WILL LIFT NWD INTO WRN CANADA ALLOWING RIDGE TO BUILD
OVER THE W. VERY HOT AND DRY WEATHER WILL PREVAIL UNDER THE RIDGE
WITH CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS FROM NV INTO WY. FARTHER E...A STRONG
UPPER TROUGH WILL AFFECT THE GREAT LAKES INTO NEW ENGLAND...WITH
MILD BUT DRY HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING SWD INTO THE GREAT LAKES REGION.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SRN NV INTO SWRN WY...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: EXTREMELY HOT AND DRY...HIGH HAINES...GUSTY
   WINDS

AN EXTREMELY DRY AND HOT AIR MASS WILL REMAIN UNDER UPPER RIDGE. RH
WILL REMAIN CRITICALLY LOW AND LARGELY IN THE SINGLE DIGITS FOR MUCH
OF THE DAY. THE VERY HOT AND DRY WEATHER WILL RESULT IN AN UNSTABLE
LOWER TO MIDDLE ATMOSPHERE (HIGH HAINES INDEX). THIS
INSTABILITY...ALONG WITH THE EFFECTS OF A MODERATELY STRONG UPPER
JET POSITIONED ALONG NRN FRINGE OF UPPER RIDGE...WILL RESULT IN
GUSTY SWLY WINDS. ALTHOUGH SUSTAINED WINDS ON THE LAGE SCALE SHOULD
REMAIN AT OR BELOW 20 MPH...HIGHER GUSTS ARE LIKELY ESPECIALLY NEAR
COMPLEX TERRAIN. ONGOING FIRES WILL AGAIN EXPERIENCE FAVORABLE
CONDITIONS FOR PLUME DOMINATION BY LATE AFTERNOON AND OVERNIGHT RH
   RECOVERY WILL BE POOR.

...SIERRA SWD INTO SRN CA COASTAL RANGE...
PRESENCE OF UPPER RIDGE WILL CREATE VERY HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS.
WINDS WILL BE LOCALLY GUSTY...AND MAINLY DRIVEN BY STRONG HEATING
AND CANYON/PASS ORIENTATION WHICH WILL ENHANCE GUSTS. RH WILL RANGE
FROM THE TEENS NRN SIERRA TO THE SINGLE DIGITS SRN CA. A HIGH HAINES
INDEX WILL FAVOR PLUME DOMINATED FIRES SRN SIERRA SWD.

   ...SRN WI INTO LOWER MI...
PRESENCE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL RESULT IN MILD TEMPERATURES IN THE
70S AND LOW RH NEAR 30 PERCENT. NLY WINDS AROUND 10 MPH WILL BE
COMMON WITH SOME HIGHER GUSTS WITH EXCELLENT RH RECOVERY OVERNIGHT.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0319 AM CDT SAT JUN 30 2007

   VALID 011200Z - 021200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER RIDGE WILL REMAIN SITUATED OVER THE GREAT BASIN AND ROCKIES
WITH HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS PREVAILING. A SHORTWAVE TROUGH WILL
GLANCE THE RIDGE...MOVING ACROSS NRN CA AND NWRN NV INTO ID EARLY IN
THE DAY ON SUNDAY. HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN OVER THE GREAT LAKES
INTO THE OHIO VALLEY WITH MILD BUT DRY WEATHER.

   ...AZ/CA/GREAT BASIN/WY/SRN ID AND OREGON...
VERY HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS WILL EXIST OVER A LARGE AREA WITH RIDGE
ALOFT. THIS WILL RESULT IN RH VALUES BELOW 15 PERCENT OVER THE
ENTIRE AREA...AND SINGLE DIGITS MAINLY OVER NV/UT/AZ/SRN CA. THE HOT
AND DRY WEATHER WILL RESULT IN STRONG INSTABILITY DURING THE
AFTERNOON WITH A HIGH HAINES INDEX. THIS WILL AGAIN FAVOR PLUME
   DOMINATED FIRES.

IN GENERAL...SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS SHOULD BE NEAR 15 MPH...BUT HIGHER
GUSTS OF 20-25 MPH WILL BE COMMON. THE STRONGEST WINDS WILL BE NEAR
RIDGE TOPS. GIVEN EXPECTED MARGINAL WINDS...A LARGE SCALE CRITICAL
AREA WILL NOT BE ISSUED AT THIS TIME ALTHOUGH CRITICAL CONDITIONS
MAY EXIST ON A LOCAL SCALE.
