   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0156 AM CDT MON JUL 02 2007

   VALID 021200Z - 031200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR SRN CA MTNS INTO THE ANTELOPE
   VALLEY...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER RIDGE WILL CONTINUE TO BUILD OVER MUCH OF THE WRN
U.S...RESULTING IN VERY HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS. A WEAK UPPER LEVEL
DISTURBANCE WILL SHIFT INTO WRN MT ATOP THE RIDGE WITH LOCALLY GUSTY
WINDS AND LOW RH IN THE YELLOWSTONE AREA. MEANWHILE...HIGH PRESSURE
WILL RESULT IN MILD BUT DRY CONDITIONS FROM THE LOWER GREAT LAKES
INTO THE MID ATLANTIC WITH LIGHT WINDS.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - SRN CA MTNS INTO THE ANTELOPE
   VALLEY...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: GUSTY WINDS...VERY LOW RH AND HOT TEMPERATURES

THERMAL LOW OVER SERN CA WILL RESULT IN TIGHTENING PRESSURE GRADIENT
ACROSS THE SRN SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY INTO THE ANTELOPE VALLEY. IT WILL
BE VERY HOT AND EXTREMELY DRY WITH SINGLE DIGIT RH...WHILE WINDS
INCREASE TO NEAR 20 MPH BY AFTERNOON. HIGHER GUSTS WILL OCCUR WELL
INTO THE EVENING WITH DRY GUSTY WINDS THROUGH PASSES AND
CANYONS...EXTENDING SWD TO THE SANTA BARBARA COAST.

   ...NV...NRN AZ...UT...
VERY HOT AND DRY WEATHER WILL PERSIST UNDER RIDGE. SINGLE DIGIT RH
AND VERY HOT TEMPERATURES WILL RESULT IN A VERY UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE
WITH A HIGH HAINES AND LOCALLY GUSTY WINDS. ALTHOUGH LARGE SCALE
SUSTAINED WINDS DO NOT MEET CRITICAL CRITERIA...PLUME DOMINATED
FIRES WILL AGAIN BE POSSIBLE BY LATE AFTERNOON.

   ...NERN ID...NWRN WY...SWRN MT...
A WEAK LOW AMPLITUDE UPPER DISTURBANCE WILL MOVE INTO WRN MT LATE
TODAY AND MAY ENHANCE WINDS AS STRONG HEATING MIXES THEM DOWN TO THE
SURFACE. SUSTAINED SWLY WINDS OF 15-20 MPH APPEAR LIKELY...WITH
LOCALLY HIGHER GUSTS POSSIBLE. RH WILL EASILY DIP TO NEAR 15 PERCENT
WITH HOT TEMPERATURES. THE SWLY UPSLOPE WIND UP THE SNAKE RIVER
PLAIN MAY RESULT IN AN ISOLATED DRY LIGHTNING STRIKE...WITH MORE
SUBSTANTIAL CONVECTION WITH RAIN FARTHER NE INTO MT.

   ...NRN SIERRA INTO WRN NV...
GUSTY WINDS WILL DEVELOP LATER TODAY IN RESPONSE TO WLY FLOW ALOFT
AND DOWNSLOPE. SUSTAINED SPEEDS AROUND 15 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS OF
20-25 MPH ARE LIKELY. HOT TEMPERATURES WILL RESULT IN VERY LOW RH IN
THE SINGLE DIGITS TO LOWER TEENS.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0200 AM CDT MON JUL 02 2007

   VALID 031200Z - 041200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
THE UPPER RIDGE WILL INTENSIFY EVEN FURTHER ACROSS THE FOUR CORNERS
AREA WITH EXTREME HEAT AND LOW HUMIDITY. AN UPPER SHORTWAVE TROUGH
WILL ROUND THE RIDGE AND EMERGE INTO THE NRN PLAINS/UPPER MS VALLEY
BY TUE AFTERNOON...WITH TRAILING LOW PRESSURE TROUGH FROM MN INTO
NEB AND NERN CO. WINDS WILL TURN TO NLY W OF THIS TROUGH...EVEN INTO
UT. MEANWHILE...WINDS WILL DECREASE ACROSS SRN CA ALTHOUGH THEY
   WILL REMAIN GUSTY.

...UT INTO WRN CO AND SRN WY...
HIGH PRESSURE TO THE N WILL HELP WINDS TO SHIFT TO A NWLY DIRECTION
ALTHOUGH NOT MORE THAN ABOUT 15 MPH. IT WILL REMAIN VERY HOT AND DRY
WITH SINGLE DIGIT TO LOWER TEENS RH. THE SHIFTING WINDS MAY CHANGE
FIRE DIRECTION...AND A HIGH HAINES INDEX IS STILL FORECAST FOR TUE.

   ...SERN AZ INTO SWRN NM...
EXTREME HEAT AND HUMIDITY WILL COMBINE WITH LOCALLY GUSTY WLY WINDS
TO PRODUCE NEAR CRITICAL CONDITIONS TUE AFTERNOON. WLY WINDS WILL
INCREASE TO 15-25 MPH MAINLY IN THE FORM OF GUSTS OVER PORTIONS OF
THE ERN RIM AND THROUGH PASSES IN SERN AZ...WITH SPEEDS OF 10-15 MPH
   FARTHER E INTO NM.

   ...SRN CA...
WINDS WILL DECREASE COMPARED TO PREVIOUS DAY AND ARE EXPECTED TO
REMAIN BELOW CRITICAL LEVELS. SUSTAINED WLY WINDS AROUND 15 MPH WITH
HIGHER GUSTS ARE LIKELY INTO THE ANTELOPE VALLEY AND INTO VENTURA
AND SANTA BARBARA COUNTIES OVERNIGHT. RH WILL REMAIN VERY LOW WITH
   POOR RECOVERY.
