   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0410 AM CDT TUE JUL 24 2007

   VALID 241200Z - 251200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NORTHEAST CA/NORTHERN NV/SOUTHERN
   ID/NORTHWEST UT/...
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR EASTERN MT/NORTHEASTERN
WY/PORTIONS OF WESTERN ND AND SD...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
LARGE UPPER-LEVEL HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL REMAIN OVER THE WEST AND
INTO THE CENTRAL U.S. WITH UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH OVER EXTREME PACIFIC
NORTHWEST AND SEVERAL MINOR UPPER-LEVEL DISTURBANCES MIGRATING FROM
SOUTH-SOUTHWEST TO NORTH-NORTHEAST AROUND THE WESTERN EDGE OF THE
HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM...THUNDERSTORMS MAY BE ON THE INCREASE IN THE
WEST TODAY AS MUCH OF THE WEST WILL SEE A NORTHWARD INCREASE IN
   MONSOONAL MOISTURE.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - NORTHEAST CA/NORTHERN NV/SOUTHERN
   ID/NORTHWEST UT/...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: DRY THUNDERSTORMS ALONG WITH GUSTY THUNDERSTORM
   WINDS

TODAY WILL SEE A TRANSITION TO MORE STORMS WITH WETTING RAINS ACROSS
MUCH OF THE AREA. HOWEVER SOME OF THE STORMS WILL LIKELY START OUT
AS DRY STORMS WITH LITTLE RAINFALL AND GIVEN THE EXTREMELY DRY
CONDITIONS OF THE PAST WEEKS...LIGHTNING STRIKES OCCURRING OUTSIDE
THE MAIN PRECIPITATION AREAS COULD ALSO START WILDFIRES GIVEN THAT
THE LIGHTNING IGNITION EFFICIENCY IS VERY HIGH OVER THIS AREA. IT
APPEARS THAT THE MOISTURE WILL SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE OVER MUCH OF
THIS AREA DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING...AND SOME PLACES MAY SEE
BENEFICIAL HEAVIER WETTING RAINS ALONG WITH NUMEROUS LIGHTNING
FLASHES. AT THE SAME TIME...SOME OF THE STORMS MAY ALSO PRODUCE
STRONG OUTFLOW WHICH WOULD PRODUCE SUDDEN AND ERRATIC WIND SPEED AND
DIRECTION CHANGES ON ANY OF THE ONGOING FIRES.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - EASTERN MT/NORTHEASTERN WY/PORTIONS
   OF WESTERN ND AND SD...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS ACROSS AREA WITH SOME DRY
   THUNDERSTORMS WESTERN PORTION

THIS AREA HAS SEEN PROLONGED HOT AND VERY DRY CONDITIONS WITH LITTLE
RAINFALL. STRONG SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST WINDS AROUND 20 MPH WITH SOME
HIGHER GUSTS DURING THE AFTERNOON AHEAD OF AN ADVANCING COLD FRONT
WILL INCREASE THE FIRE DANGER. ALSO...THERE WILL BE A STRONG WIND
SHIFT AS THE FRONT PASSES...WINDS WILL SHIFT FROM SOUTHERLY TO
NORTH/NORTHWESTERLY AND GRADUALLY DIMINISH DURING THE EVENING.

THERE IS ALSO THE CHANCE OF SOME DRY THUNDERSTORMS IN THE WESTERN
PORTION OF THE AREA AND LIGHTNING COULD TRIGGER FIRES GIVEN THAT THE
   FUELS ARE VERY DRY

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0451 AM CDT TUE JUL 24 2007

   VALID 251200Z - 261200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR NORTHEAST CA/SOUTHEAST
   OR/SOUTHWEST ID AND NORTHERN NV...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL BE NEARING THE PACIFIC
NORTHWEST WITH THE STRONG UPPER-LEVEL RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE BEING
DISPLACED FARTHER TO THE SOUTH. TEMPERATURES WILL BE COOLER OVER
THE NORTHERN ROCKIES. THE SOUTHWEST WILL REMAIN HOT WITH THE
UPPER-LEVEL HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM CENTERED OVER THE FOUR-CORNERS
   AREA.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - NORTHEAST CA/SOUTHEAST OR/SOUTHWEST
   ID AND NORTHERN NV...

PRIMARY CONDITIONS: WIDELY SCATTERED DRY THUNDERSTORMS

SLIGHTLY DRIER AIR WILL MOVE INTO THE AREA ON WEDNESDAY AHEAD OF THE
UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH THAT WILL BE MOVING CLOSER TO THE PACIFIC
NORTHWEST. THE MID LEVEL MOISTURE SHOULD REMAIN IN PLACE AND WITH
   INCREASING UPPER-LEVEL SUPPORT...WIDELY SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS
SHOULD DEVELOP DURING THE AFTERNOON. THE FORECAST TEMPERATURE AND
MOISTURE PROFILES INDICATE MOST OF THESE STORMS MAY BE
DRY...PRODUCING GUSTY WINDS AT THE SURFACE AND LITTLE RAINFALL.
