   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0406 AM CDT FRI JUL 27 2007

   VALID 271200Z - 281200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
THE WRN U.S. REMAINS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF A BROAD UPPER
RIDGE...WITH THE WESTERLIES AND WEAK SHORTWAVE IMPULSES EXTENDING
FROM THE ERN PACIFIC TO MT. AS THESE SHORTWAVE IMPULSES CROSS THE
RIDGE AXIS TODAY AND A CUTOFF UPPER LOW OVER CNTRL TX MOVES SLOWLY
WWD...THE WRN RIDGE BECOMES CENTERED OVER THE GREAT BASIN BY THE END
OF THE PERIOD. THESE ADJUSTMENTS TO THE LARGE SCALE FLOW PUSH THE
NRN/WRN EXTENT OF MONSOON MOISTURE BOUNDARY SEWD...KEEPING THE MORE
ROBUST AFTERNOON/EVENING THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY IN THE SOUTHWEST AND
   CENTRAL ROCKIES TODAY.

ELSEWHERE IN THE NATION...A SHORTWAVE TROUGH CROSSING THE WRN GREAT
LAKES EARLY THIS MORNING ABSORBS THE PREVIOUSLY CUTOFF UPPER LOW
OVER ERN MI...ADVANCING TO NEW ENGLAND AS AN OPEN WAVE BY THE END OF
THE PERIOD. BESIDES THE INTERIOR WEST...SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
ARE ALSO EXPECTED FROM THE SOUTHEAST TO THE GREAT LAKES REGION AND
   NEW ENGLAND.

   ...SRN ID...
THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR ISOLATED DRY THUNDERSTORMS ALONG THE WRN
PERIPHERY OF THE MONSOON MOISTURE BOUNDARY...LOCATED ALONG THE
ORE/ID BORDER TO CNTRL NV EARLY THIS MORNING AND SHIFTING TOWARD WRN
MT TO WRN UT BY 00 UTC. A WEAK SHORTWAVE IMPULSE WILL MOVE FROM ERN
ORE TO WRN MT BY MID AFTERNOON...PUTTING THE FAVORABLE MOISTURE ZONE
FOR DRY THUNDERSTORMS UNDER WEAK SUBSIDENCE THIS AFTERNOON. THE LACK
OF LARGE SCALE FORCING COMBINED WITH THE ABRUPT MOISTURE TRANSITION
SHOULD KEEP DRY THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE ISOLATED THIS AFTERNOON.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0407 AM CDT FRI JUL 27 2007

   VALID 281200Z - 291200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
THE UPPER RIDGE OVER THE WRN U.S. BECOMES CENTERED OVER THE WRN
GREAT BASIN SATURDAY...WHILE THE WESTERLIES AND EMBEDDED SHORTWAVE
IMPULSES CONTINUE TO INFRINGE ON THE NRN PERIPHERY OF THE UPPER
RIDGE AXIS. THE LARGE SCALE PATTERN CONTINUES TO PUSH THE MONSOON
MOISTURE BOUNDARY FARTHER TO THE SOUTH AND EAST...WHILE A CLOSED
UPPER LOW OVER TX REACHES SERN NM BY THE END OF THE PERIOD. AN UPPER
TROUGH EXITS NEW ENGLAND SATURDAY...WITH A SURFACE FRONT BECOMING
STALLED FROM WRN NEW ENGLAND TO THE LOWER MS VALLEY. SCATTERED
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED IN THE INTERIOR WEST FROM AZ
THROUGH THE SRN AND CNTRL ROCKIES...AND OVER MUCH OF THE EAST AND
   SOUTHEAST.

   ...ERN GREAT BASIN/ERN ID...
SUFFICIENT RESIDUAL MOISTURE MAY ALLOW FOR ISOLATED DRY
THUNDERSTORMS ALONG THE WRN PERIPHERY OF THE DEEPER MONSOONAL
MOISTURE SATURDAY AFTERNOON. BUT THE STRENGTH OF THE UPPER RIDGE AND
THE LACK OF LARGE SCALE FORCING WILL KEEP STORM COVERAGE ISOLATED
AND CONFINED TO THE HIGHER TERRAIN.
