   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0316 AM CDT SAT JUL 28 2007

   VALID 281200Z - 291200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
BROAD UPPER RIDGE OVER THE WESTERN STATES WILL REMAIN CENTERED OVER
THE GREAT BASIN...WITH A PERIPHERAL BELT OF MODERATE WESTERLIES
ACROSS THE NORTHERN TIER OF STATES INTO SOUTHERN CANADA. THIS
PATTERN WILL LEAD TO A SOUTH/EASTWARD RETREAT OF MONSOONAL MOISTURE
ACROSS THE WEST. OUTSIDE OF ISOLATED MAINLY DRY THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS
THE NORTHERN INTERMOUNTAIN WEST...RELATIVELY QUIET FIRE WEATHER
CONDITIONS ARE ANTICIPATED ACROSS THE CONUS THIS WEEKEND.

...CENTRAL NV/NORTHEAST ORE INTO SOUTHERN/CENTRAL ID AND SOUTHWEST
   MT...
SUFFICIENT RESIDUAL MOISTURE WILL ALLOW FOR ISOLATED MAINLY DRY
THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE INTERMOUNTAIN REGION AND PORTIONS OF THE
GREAT BASIN THIS AFTERNOON/EARLY EVENING. THE STRENGTH OF THE UPPER
RIDGE AND LACK OF LARGE SCALE FORCING WILL KEEP STORM COVERAGE
RATHER ISOLATED IN NATURE. OTHERWISE...HOT TEMPERATURES/STEEP LAPSE
RATE ENVIRONMENT AND MODEST BROAD SCALE WINDS WILL FAVOR
TERRAIN-DRIVEN WIND REGIMES AND PLUME DOMINATED FIRES DURING THE
   AFTERNOON.

   ...NORTHWEST/NORTH CENTRAL MT...
ALONG/SOUTH OF A SOUTHWARD SAGGING FRONTAL BOUNDARY...GUSTY WESTERLY
WINDS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS NORTHERN MT THIS AFTERNOON. SUSTAINED WIND
SPEEDS MAY REACH 15 MPH...ESPECIALLY IN AREAS NEAREST THE
MT/CANADIAN BORDER. HOT/NEAR RECORD TEMPERATURES WELL INTO THE 90S
ARE ANTICIPATED...WITH MARGINALLY CRITICAL RH VALUES.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0318 AM CDT SAT JUL 28 2007

   VALID 291200Z - 301200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
THE LARGE SCALE PATTERN WILL FLUCTUATE LITTLE INTO SUNDAY. BROAD
UPPER RIDGE WILL REMAIN PREVALENT FROM THE GREAT BASIN INTO THE
NORTHERN PLAINS...WITH THE RICHER MONSOONAL MOISTURE CONTINUING TO
GRADUALLY RETREAT SOUTHEASTWARD TOWARD THE FOUR CORNERS REGION.
SIMILAR TO DAY 1/SATURDAY...ISOLATED MAINLY DRY THUNDERSTORMS ARE
POSSIBLE ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE GREAT BASIN AND NORTHERN
   INTERMOUNTAIN WEST.

...NV/NORTHERN UT INTO CENTRAL/SOUTHERN ID AND SOUTHWEST MT...
OROGRAPHIC LIFT/AFTERNOON HEATING AND SUFFICIENT RESIDUAL MOISTURE
SHOULD AGAIN LEAD TO ISOLATED MAINLY DRY THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS
PORTIONS OF THE GREAT BASIN AND NORTHERN INTERMOUNTAIN REGION. IN
ABSENCE OF APPRECIABLE LARGE SCALE FORCING...DRY THUNDERSTORM
COVERAGE SHOULD BE ISOLATED AND PRIMARILY CONFINED TO HIGHER
   TERRAIN.
