   DAY 1 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0421 AM CDT SUN JUL 29 2007

   VALID 291200Z - 301200Z

   ...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
BROAD UPPER RIDGE WILL REMAIN PREVALENT FROM THE GREAT BASIN INTO
THE NORTHERN PLAINS TODAY...WITH A SLIGHT SOUTHEASTWARD RETREAT OF
RICHER MONSOONAL MOISTURE TOWARD THE FOUR CORNERS REGION. HOT AND
GENERALLY DRY CONDITIONS WILL REMAIN ACROSS THE INTERMOUNTAIN
WEST...ALTHOUGH ISOLATED MAINLY DRY THUNDERSTORMS ARE AGAIN POSSIBLE
ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE GREAT BASIN AND NORTHERN ROCKIES.

...CENTRAL/SOUTHERN ID AND SOUTHWEST MT TO NV/NORTHERN UT...
AS WAS OBSERVED ON SATURDAY ACROSS ID AND WESTERN MT...A HOT
AIRMASS/STEEP LAPSE RATE ENVIRONMENT WITH HIGH HAINES INDICES WILL
FAVOR PLUME DOMINATED FIRES...WITH POTENTIAL FOR LARGE/FAST GROWTH
OF EXISTING FIRES DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS. LOCAL/TERRAIN-DRIVEN
   WIND REGIMES WILL BE DOMINANT.

IN ADDITION...OROGRAPHIC LIFT/AFTERNOON HEATING AND SUFFICIENT
RESIDUAL MOISTURE SHOULD AGAIN LEAD TO ISOLATED MAINLY DRY
THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE GREAT BASIN AND NORTHERN
ROCKIES. IN ABSENCE OF APPRECIABLE LARGE SCALE FORCING...DRY
THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE SHOULD BE ISOLATED AND PRIMARILY CONFINED TO
THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF WESTERN MT AND CENTRAL/EASTERN ID INTO NV.

   DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   0519 AM CDT SUN JUL 29 2007

   VALID 301200Z - 311200Z

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA FOR CENTRAL ID/WESTERN MT FOR DRY
   THUNDERSTORMS...

   ...SYNOPSIS...
WESTERN STATES BROAD UPPER RIDGE WILL GRADUALLY EXPAND EASTWARD
ACROSS THE CENTRAL U.S. ON MONDAY...WHILE THE NORTHERN FRINGES OF
THE RIDGE ACROSS THE NORTHERN ROCKIES IS DAMPENED BY A POTENT
SHORTWAVE TROUGH CROSSING THE WESTERN CANADIAN PROVINCES. THIS WILL
LIKELY RESULT IN AN INCREASE OF THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE NORTHERN
   ROCKIES MONDAY AFTERNOON/EVENING.

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER AREA - CENTRAL ID/WESTERN MT FOR DRY
   THUNDERSTORMS...

   PRIMARY CONDITIONS: DRY THUNDERSTORMS

GLANCING LARGE SCALE ASCENT VIA SHORTWAVE TROUGH CROSSING THE
WESTERN CANADIAN PROVINCES WILL LIKELY LEAD TO AN INCREASE OF MAINLY
DRY THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS/CONTINENTAL DIVIDE VICINITY
OF CENTRAL ID AND WESTERN MT ON MONDAY. MODEST MID LEVEL MOISTURE
ATOP A RELATIVELY DRY BOUNDARY LAYER AND FAVORABLE STORM MOTIONS
WILL SUPPORT A TENDENCY FOR MAINLY DRY THUNDERSTORMS WITH LITTLE
RAINFALL. THIS WILL LIKELY LEAD TO NEW FIRE STARTS MONDAY
   AFTERNOON/EVENING...WITH GUSTY/ERRATIC WINDS VIA THUNDERSTORM
DOWNDRAFTS POTENTIALLY ADVERSELY IMPACTING ONGOING FIRE CONTROL
   EFFORTS.

...MUCH OF MT INTO FAR WESTERN ND...
IN ADDITION TO A DRY THUNDERSTORM THREAT MAINLY ACROSS WESTERN
MT...SOUTHERLY WINDS WILL INCREASE ACROSS THE NORTHERN HIGH PLAINS
AHEAD OF A PREFRONTAL TROUGH/COLD FRONT CROSSING MT ON MONDAY.
HOT/DRY CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL IN THE AMBIENT WARM SECTOR ACROSS
   CENTRAL/EASTERN MT INTO WESTERN ND...WITH UPPER 90S/LOWER 100S HIGH
TEMPERATURES COMMON...ALONG WITH AT LEAST MARGINALLY CRITICAL RH
   VALUES.

   ...CENTRAL/EASTERN NV AND NORTHERN UT...
ON THE FRINGE OF RICHER MONSOON MOISTURE...ISOLATED MAINLY DRY
THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS PORTIONS OF CENTRAL/EASTERN NV AND
NORTHERN UT. LACK OF APPRECIABLE LARGE SCALE FORCING SUGGESTS THE
STORMS SHOULD REMAIN ISOLATED IN NATURE.
